ELLSWORTH – Funeral services will be at 11 a.m Wednesday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel for Donna Rae Goddard, 77, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Briarfield Manor with her sons at her side.

Donna was born Oct. 13, 1934, in Canfield, Ohio a daughter of the late Arthur G. and Helen C. Francis Harger and was a lifelong area resident.

She graduated from Canfield High School in 1952 and was co-owner with her husband, of the former Stretch and Sew Fabrics Store in Canfield for seven years.

She was a former member of the Ellsworth Presbyterian Church, a member of the Red Hat Ladies, Canfield Chapter No. 16220 and had enjoyed flower gardening.

Her husband, Floyd L. Goddard, whom she married Nov. 2, 1952, died June 29, 2001.

She leaves her two sons, Rodney L. (Janine) Goddard of Ellsworth and Jeffrey l. (Pamela) Goddard of Berlin Center, Ohio; four grandchildren, Chad Goddard, Tonya Goddard, Carly Rivera and Erika Goddard; and five great-grandchildren, Dylan, Gabriella, Mikayla, Grady and Jayden.

Besides her parents and her husband, Donna was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl; an infant, son; and a sister, Glenna McCabe.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel

Please consider yDNA testing for male surnamed Goddards in your families! If they are related to the Wildwood Goddards and Granby Goddards it might answer questions for a lot of baffled researchers.

These families trace their heritage back to John Goddard and his (unidentified) wife, Thomas and Elizabeth Eulass Goddard, and Michael and Margaret McCleary Pignan Goddard, all substantial property owners in Scott County, KY. Genetic testing has revealed that descendants of all three share a direct paternal ancestor (and may be distantly related to the Connecticut Gozzards). Their founding fathers may have been brothers or cousins, but no definitive documentation has been found. One family tradition holds that the Goddards and McClearys immigrated from Scotland, Ireland and Wales in the 1700’s and first settled near Baltimore, Maryland.

Why do some show up as Goddard and some as Godfrey. For example the same Samuel Goddard you are discussing, and I am positive it is him, I know him to be (through family and cemetery websites) Samuel Godfrey. This seems to be happining quite frequently and vise versa. Hoping you can help.

I hope this helps somewhat, it seems peter has offered more detail on their lives than I can but I can give you what I know, I will be working from a different perspective, from my families perspective. I am also trying to find information on her too and keep reaching a dead end. Ok, Charles Harvey Godfrey (1855-1939) married Elizabeth Killey-Godfrey (I have the dates but not with me, I'm going by memory right now. Elizabeth was Charles Godfreys first wife and she is known as Lizzie on Ancestry.com. They separated (reasons to me, unknown, I assumed she passed away but now know that not to be true) she then had two children Mabel Godfrey (1876) and Clyde Godfrey (1879) Clyde married Addie Godfrey and had a son named Henry. Later on Elizabeth Killey shows up as Lizzie S Wier so maybe try that route she also appears as Eliza Godfrey. Hope this helps, but since I am looking for Charles Harvey side, this is all I have that's relative to you. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask

Looking for descendants of Dayton Eugene Goddard & Mildred Irene Warnock. They were married 5 Mar 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa. Dayton was born 21 Apr 1914 in Rose Hill, Mahaska, Iowa and died 5 Jul 1963 in Postville, Allamakee, Iowa. Mildred was born 24 May 1911 in Thornburg, Keokuk, Iowa and died 7 Mar 1989 in Johnson City, Iowa. Her parents were Jefferson Clark Warnock & Maude Ola McFarland.

If you are related to this family, you may be interested in the Warnock Family Photo Project. About 80 Warnock family researchers have shared photos of over 1800 different Warnock descendants. The goal is to gather photos of all Warnock descendants in a single source to be available to future Warnock family researchers. A DVD containing all available photos will be mailed to anyone who shares family photos with my project.

Frederick Goddard born abt 1850 in the 1881 census and he was also a professional musician. Lived at Earps Lane Theatre Royal and married Adeline and their child was Hannah M Goddard and she was 5 years old in this 1881 census. Hope this helps you out some.

I think what I have on Maria Swisher Davis' ancestors is correct but am not 100 percent positive that my gg grandfather John was her brother. I am 99.99 sure based on several things that I can go into about it if you e mail me... things that make me sure that my John was her brother. I contacted Bonnie Raitt and her secretary wrote me back but don't think Bonnie was interested in having any contact. She is probably too busy with her career. Hi Cousin. First I have to thank you greatly for confirming Maguerites' Lineage. Marguerite was my grandmother Alma C. Davis Hicklin, of Lexington, MO cousin. We have lots of paintings by Marguerit and pix as well. Let me know if you need any. I knew she was somehow a Davis but could not find a tie-in thru our reference books. I am working on the family tree under wiki- tree if you want to link in. Marcia Hicklin is my name. As to Marge's burial, I would contact the Orange County Friends Meeting, Santa Ana, CA quaker church. They posted a nice tribute to her in Wikipedia. I would bet they know where she is buried. Is anyone in Bonnie Raitt's family interested in their cousins? Another cousin, Bob Catron, here in KC, MO has a daughter who is the mirror image of Bonnie. Bonnie visited our home when she was a child but not since. Take care and thanks again.

Jane Crouch Williams, lead researcher for Sullivan County TN Goddards, said, "The Hugh Goddard family is one I have researched since the 1960s, hoping to connect to our William Goddard-Elinor Muncy family. In 2011, we still believe there may be a connection but have been unable to prove it."

In October 2011, Jane joined forces with the Goddard DNA Project to try and resolve the question with the aid of genetic testing.

If your family includes a male Goddard descendant of Hugh & Mary Avis Goddard, we suggest Y chromosome testing for him. According to Jane's research, likely candidates would be direct paternal descendants of one of these grandsons:

These Tennessee Goddards are an extensive family, many still residing in the state. Jane Crouch Williams is the chief researcher of the lineage, and you may find one of her books (now out of print) in a genealogical library. According to Jane, Samuel's parents were:

Wiley G. Goddard B: AUG 1841 Roane County, TN D: 21 SEP 1902 Harriman, Roane County, Tennessee
+ Mary Wetherford B: 23 JUL 1843 Virginia D: 30 JUN 1885 Roane County, Tennessee

They had ten children, most born in Roane County, TN

Samuel's wife is listed as Mattie Viola King B: DEC 1874 Roane County, TN, daughter of George W. King and Mary Elizabeth Hambly.

My Grandmother is Florence Nellie Goddard, born 24 April 1898, Brighton, Sussex. She married Albert Harold Hubbard on 9 April 1917, West Ham, East London.

Her parents are Alfred Goddard, born 1863, Brighton and Caroline Howlett, born 1874, Reigate, Surrey. They married on 17 March 1897, Brighton, Sussex

Alfred Goddard, parents are James Goddard, born 1831, Ovingdean, Sussex and Ann Vernon, born 1830.

James Goddard father is William Goddard, born about 1798, Ovingdean,Sussex, wife is Susannah Grinyer, born about 1798, Ovingdean, Sussex

I would be very grateful for any help or advice if you are connected to my Goddard family, thank you.

I am trying to locate relatives of Samuel Goddard. The information I have is limited..I do know that he married Martha (maiden name unknown) around the time of 1900 and 1910.I know they had a son Marvin Goddard most likely born around 1908 to 1910. Marvin was my grandfather. He married Robbie Mae Hinds around 1928. Marvin had several sisters: Rose Goddard m. to Tressler White, Kathleen Goddard m. to Goerge Lane, Mimie Goddard m. to John Martin, and the youngest: Ora Frances Goddard. My Goddard family who came from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, Eng. had cousins whose family had immigrated to the St. Louis, MO area. the immigrant was John William Goddard and his wife was Isabelle Bradford.

John was born in 1852 in Wisbech and died in St. Louis. they had 3 children, Grace, Edward and Tom Harry.

My grandparents immigrated to Elgin, IL about 1880. They raised their family in the Chicago area.

Do you have an Elizabeth Goddard b. 1777 or thereabouts in this line. I am researching this family for she is the mother of my gg grandmother Frances W. Cobb b. 1818 d. 1872 in AR. Elizabeth Goddard died in Morgan, TN in 1845? She was supposedly married to Charles Williams d. 1825 and then William Cobb d. 1843. Any information that you have would be great.

I have a John Goddard b. 1772. Son of John Goddard b. c. 1740 Wiltshire, England and Mary McTier b. c.1734 in France. Both died in Goddard, Fleming, Kentucky. Look for history of Goddard KY.

Hello,

I'm looking for information on William Goddard (the convict) born in Surrey around 1811, sent to Australia in 1838 on vessel Portsea. He was trialed in Old Bailey in London.

harold goddard grandfather died june/july 1975 had a sister in rugby and possible connections in irelandhe worked with hvisited his sister in rugby orses lived in theale @ tilehurst berkshad 12 children visited his sister in rugby but as yet dont know name father cyril but married allen

I have also been looking to find out who Sarah's family is. I am a descendant from her son with William Farmer. I have been looking in DeKalb county 1850 census records for Goddards since she was married there in 1844. I see two other Goddards who married in the 1840s in DeKalb who could be brothers? or cousins? not sure since I don;t have more detailed records.

Clemmons Goddard (b.1820) married Nancy Alfred in 1849.
James B. Goddard (b.1828) married Jane Harris in 1847.

I have found Clemmons and James in the 1850 in De Kalb county. Perhaps it is the same James in 1870?

I have seen records for a William Goddard (b. 1812) who married a Miss Richardson as well. Two of his sons (born in the 1840s) died in De Kalb county. An index of the 1850 census says he is also living in the Diamond district of DeKalb, but I cannot find him.

Sarah's son, John, lists her birthplace as Newton County, Georgia.

I did not see any Goddards in Newton County in 1850.
