Ens. Wilford Goldman of Hagerstown, MD 1943

Wilford is pictured in the 1943 Flat-Hatter, yearbook of the March 1943 class of cadets at the Washburn Naval Aviation Unit in Topeka, KS. He is a flight cadet. I'm not kin but thought this might help someone researching family.

I am looking for Looking for Peter Goldman b. 1808 Lebanon, PA married to Mary Bender Goldman and living in Findlay, Handcock, Ohio in 1850. In 1860 Mary and some of their children are found in Clinton County, Illinois but Peter is not with them. I have not been able to locate any death/burial information on Peter Goldman in Ohio, Indiana, or Illinois.

I have been in touch with Audrey Oconnor. She is the granddaughter of Andrew Jackson Goldman. She has provided me with information that I was looking for because my mother-in-law is also a granddaughter of Andrew Jackson Goldman.

John was married to Mahala. John died in 1936. Mahala remarried a William Spence in the 1840's. I have other information from Audrey that I would be willing to share if you are interested. holly@whatsupdave.com

Wow, I don't know what to say except thank you ever to much for taking the time to post these pictures. It is very much appreciated, it really is. What a fabulous watch, it has clearly been looked after especially considering it's age.

the watch was my uncles, he was Ukranian, Michael Nabola he married my Dads sister and the watch passed to dad when she passed away. it has now come down to me after his passing.

Isaac Goldman is my relative.
He was born in Poland in 1840 and married Naomi Samuel, granddaughter of the first recorded Jewish settlers in this area who were also jewellers and watchmakers.
He was Treasurer of the Sunderland Hebrew Congregation 1872, 77, 78 and 79.
I would love to see a picture of the watch!

Looking for information on my grand father Frank Goldman, who died in WWII Set 30th 1943 Royal Arittery rank of Gunner.

Wife Liilian G Meredith
Two children Marlene and Jacqueline,
Fathers name was Abraham.

Most of my families records were distroyed during the war as they were bomb out quite a bit and their children Marlene and Jacqueline were put in convents for protection.

* 1926 - Los Angeles City Directory; Mrs. Rae (wid Isaac) and Eve Goldman at 476 N Beaudry.

* 1927 - LA City Directory; Mrs. Rae (wid Isaac) and Eve Goldman again at the Beaudry address.

* 1929 - LA City Directory; Mrs. Ray, Eve, and Diana at 730-1/2 Edgeware.

* 1932 - LA City Directory; Daughter Rose with husband David S. Woolf, 238 S. Berendo.

* 1938 LA City Directory; David S. and Rose Woolf, at Berendo address.

* 1936, 1938, 1944, 1946, 1950, 1952, 1954 - Voter Registrations for Eve and Diana Goldman at 665 S. Cochran av.

* 1954 - Rose Woolf d. 9 Oct 1954 in Los Angeles at age 57. Obit: "WOOLF, Rose, beloved wife of David S. Woolf, sister-in-law of Morris and Anne Jacobs, sister of Neal Goldman, Mrs. Anne Geiger, Eve and Diana Goldman."

* 1972 - Neal ("Izzy") Goldman d. 26 Feb 1972 in Milbrae, San Mateo, California at age 76.

* 1982 - Eve Goldman d. 9 May 1982 in Los Angeles at age 78. Obit: "GOLDMAN, Eve., beloved sister of Diane Goldman and Anne Geiger."

It appears that Isaac Goldman probably passed away between 1920 and 1926. Rachel (Rae) Goldman probably passed away between 1930 and 1932.

Your grandfather was related to my grandmother May Bertha Sandhop Butler's. He was called Freddie. I had met your grandfather and remember Aleana too. My mother was Charlene Butler Bertino, g-grandfather was Edward Sandhop and Marie Goldman of Victoria. Betty Butler Othold is my mother's sister. She is living in Houston. I can call Aunt Betty and ask her if this is my grandmother's brother or uncle. I think he is her brother.

Mollie (Malke) came to the US on the SS Rotterdam from Rotterdam on May 3, 1914 with two children, Sonie and Cuvie. They came from Stawisk, Russia (Stawiski, Poland) and Malke's mother is listed as her closest relative - Dwoire Krasnitsky. It is hard to tell, but it looks like Dwoire lived in Kilus. I've attached the manifest, please let me know if anyone can help research this information.

He was the husband of the late Mary M. (Puskaric) Goldman, who died Dec. 4, 2000.
He was a member of Christ the Light of the World Catholic Church, Duquesne,
and was a retired ingot shipper for the former US Steel Duquesne Works. Louis was a sergeant in the Army and served in World War II. He is survived by a son, Louis M. Goldman, of West Mifflin; daughters, Paula Smith and Karla Goldman, of Vienna, Va.; grandchildren, Kelly and Jodi Goldman; and nieces and nephews. Private graveside service took place Saturday, June 18, 2011, in Holy Name Cemetery, West Mifflin. The Rev. Dennis Colamarino officiated. Morris GOLDMAN family, Minneapolis, MN

Looking for information on the family of Morris GOLDMAN, who changed his name from Mojeke KUTKOWSKY after arrival in US.

His wife Ruchel KUTKOWSKY (b. 1875) and seven children (Abram, b. 1896; Chajke, b. 1905; Smul, b. 1909; Joine, b. 1910; Daniel, age unknown; Prive, age unknown; Rive, age unknown) left Russia to join him, and sailed from Rotterdam on SS Volturno in October 1913. The ship caught fire in the middle of the Atlantic and three KUTKOWSKY children (those whose age is unknown) were drowned in the evacuation of the ship. A Red Cross relief fund report which did not give names but can, nevertheless, be attributed to *only* this family says that the father had a shoe repair shop and that the 17-year-old son was a tailor.

I have found what I believe to be this family in the 1920 and 1930 censuses, living on Plymouth Ave. in Minneapolis, even though there seems to be an extra child from those aboard the ship (not, of course, counting Ruth, born in MN):

1920 (All b. Russia but Ruth, b. MN):
GOLDMAN, Morris, 44, owns shoe shop;
Rachel, 44;
Ben, 22, Tailor shop;
Abe, 20, Tailor shop;
Ida, 13;
Sam, 11;
Harry, 9;
Ruth, 4-9/12.

1930 (all b. Russia, but Ruth and Max TILSNER, b. MN):
GOLDMAN, Morris, 53, shoe shop;
Gertrude, 39;
Ida, 23, stenographer;
Sam, 21, newspaper manager;
Harry, 19;
Ruth, 14;
TILSNER, Max, stepson, 15.

MN death index lists a Rachel Goldman that died in Hennepin Co. on 17 Oct 1929, which may be Morris’ first wife.

I'm looking for confirmation that the GOLDMAN census family is the same as the KUTKOWSKY family from the SS Volturno.

I am also interested in hearing any stories of the shipwreck, additional information on the three sons lost, and how it all affected the family, etc.

Hello. I am Bertram (Bert) Goldman. I am Syd's son. I'm 58 years old. My grandson is doing a report on my father and apparently found this thread. I'd be happy to provide information on my family. I'd also like to learn whatever others know.

My mother, Mae, passed away in 1998. She had sold Bertrams Pipes and retired to Sarasota, FL. along with Ed Foreman who was a close friend and former employee.

I'd be interested to know the connections that others on this post had with my family. And of course, my grandson would also.

Sorry, I didn't actually know the senior Syd Goldman as he died before I worked at Bertram's in DC. I did know his son who was called Bert - a child when I knew him. It is that person I was inquiring about, who would be around 50 years old now. Do you know him? I did know Syd's wife, Mae. Are we talking about the same family?

Saw post from 2006 by Mike Leverette about Goldman family who owned Bertram's in DC. My mother and I both worked there in the 60's and the son, Bert, loved to spend time at my parent's home, when he was a young child. I also wonder about the family. I suppose Mae Goldman might still be alive.

Hello! I am looking for anyone with additional information on the Goldman's who came to Minnesota from Russia. They lived in Minnesota for some time then went to Arizona due to Joseph's health. He died in Arizona on 2/5/1933 in Phoenix but the death certificate has his body as being shipped back to MN. I cannot find any information on the children below. (besides Mollie who did go back to Minnesota) I am not sure if they stayed in AZ, went back to MN, or went somewhere else.

I do not know the names of my grandparents parents. Albert Goldman was born in NYC about 1892 but spent most of his life in Philadelphia. Albert's son, my father, was named Lawrence Jacob Goldman. My dad passed last year and knew virtually nothing about his ancestry.

My grandparents were Albert Goldman and Bessie Kline Goldman of Philadelphia, PA. They had three children:
Gilbert, Lawrence Jacob, and Evelyn Goldman. Albert was born in NY in 1892. The only records I've been able to locate are census records that do not contain any information on whom Albert's parents were.
The census records do indicate that Albert and
Bessie's parents immigrated from Russia.

Perhaps we have a connection here.
