I've seen his CSA pension papers (which were filed in Trinity Co.) and wonder about his relation, if any, to the Goodmans of Trinity Co. Ella Goodman had children Thomas Aaron (b. 1868 in AR), Dora (b. 1876 TX) and John Franklin (b. 1881 TX). They lived in the Trinity-Houston-Angelina Co. area.

This is why the internet, and sites like this, can help you to find information to fill in the missing pieces and find family members, researching from the privacy and comfort of your own home.

We can't really help you without a few more names and dates. I suggest you start to build your family tree on ancestry.com with the information you do know, and it will soon grow with suggestions and hints which you can choose to accept or ignore. You could even take photos of your grandfather's information to upload to your family tree.

Please let me know if you do create a family tree - I'd like to see it because I am Dean of Westminster Gabriel Goodman's 10x great grand nephew.

i have found some interesting information with my ancestors, i have good reason to believe that gabriel goodman, dean of westminister is an ancestor of mine from my grandfathers mothers side of the family.
I was searching through some old bits and pieces belonging to my grandfather when i found he had highlighted information about Gabriel Goodman and his works in the 1500's.
i only know my grandfathers mothers name and cant work out how to trace backwards

Hi. I'm trying to find information on my mother's maternal and paternal grandparents, their parents, siblings, etc.

My mother's parents are Phillip Silverstein and Muriel (Forman) Silverstein from Oak Park, MI. Her maternal grandparents are Morris Forman and Bessie (Schlar) Forman and came to the US from Poland about 1910. Her paternal grandparents are Benjamin Louis Silverstein and Mollie (Goodman) Silverstein and they came to the US from Russia around 1910. Both sets of my mom's grandparents lived in and around Detroit.

MOUNT GILEAD: Dorothy L. Goodman West Sherbourne, age 84, of Mount Gilead, Ohio died Thursday evening, March 22, 2012, at the Woodside Village Care Center.

On January 4, 1928, Dorothy was born in Morrow County, Ohio the daughter of the late Robert Ray and Minnie Alice Merwine Goodman.

For many years, Dorothy was a driver for the Morrow County Council on Aging.

Dorothy will always be remembered for being very set in her ways. In her younger years, she was an avid Bingo player. She enjoyed working in the yard and planting flowers where she was able, bird watching, and putting together puzzles. She also loved being a people watcher.

Dorothy is survived by her three children: Charlotte (John) McLain of Marion, Ohio, Eddie (Vickie) West of Galion, Ohio, Patricia Augenstein of Marion, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, Charlie and William Goodman, both of Mount Gilead, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond M. West in 1977; her second husband, Charles "Bubby" E. Sherbourne in 1994; an infant son, Darreld West; and three brothers: Chet, Earl, and James Goodman.

Dorothy's family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead.
Services celebrating her life will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Celebrant Don Lockwood officiating.
Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery in Mount Gilead.

He married a lady named Irene Demaree (I believe) on 25 Dec 1883. These are my g,g, grandparents. I don't have much info on them. I believe JAMES GOODMAN was born in IL. ODIE V ROGERS in TN.

They settled and raised 11 children in Lake & Hays, Greene, AR. Children that I know the names of: Irene, May, Pearl, James, Ruth, Leona, Ida, Raymond, Junior.

However, it is my understanding that ODIE V ROGERS first married JOHN W GOODMAN, was widowed, then married JAMES L GOODMAN (John W Goodman's father). I have reason to believe that Irene, May, & Pearl are JOHN GOODMAN'S children.

If you have any info... on any of them I would really appriciate it.

Yes, there is a way to compare results for free - if you go to Ysearch.org, you can upload the Y-STR results from any company's test to the public database for free (there should be instructions there about how to convert from various companies' formats). Then we could compare marker by marker and see whether we match or not. My Ysearch code is R43HU, and I have two other close Goodman matches. You can search the database by surname or code.

Hi My name is Shelly and I was fortunate to have a direct male descendant of Goodman do the the ancestry DNA test for me. I noticed your family tree DNA site takes me to a testing site and was wondering if it is possible to compare or list my results with someone with out paying additional fees. My Goodman family resided in Perry and Maury county Tennessee, as well as Barren and McCracken County Kentucky. I am a direct decendant of Abraham Goodman, and like so many others, I am left speculating as to who his brothers were and unable to locate a father's names. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Our kit# for that project is 21112. As such, I'm afraid my response will not be helpful to you, in that kits 210660 and 21112 have a number of mismatched loci.

Our Goodman line allegedly descends through Bartlett Goodman. In that our only high res y-dna match thus far
has been with Goodman descendants in/from TN, I'd been trying to determine whether we in fact shared a common ancestor w/ Obediah. That seems less likely now.

I've spent some time this morning and could not find the original note. My best guess is that a relative has it now. But I do have a copy of the note which I've attached. I think the note was in my Rees family's scrapbook because they lived on a land claim at Butteville, Oregon; and the family's numerous daughters were probably friends of Adelaide. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

I am hoping someone out there knows something about Rena Goodman. She died in Crawford, Kansas in August 1981. I have been trying for years to find out about my aunt who was takent to Kansas by orphan train and this Rena has the right birthdate and lived in Kansas part of her life. I am looking to find out what happened to my grandfather, Louis Montague Goodman born in Ripley, England June 07, 1885. His parents were Alfred and Annie (Perrin or Pullen) Goodman. He came to Canada through St. Albans, Vermont, USA in 1909. He married in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Dec. 21, 1912. He served in WW1. His wife, Alice Violet Shuttle died on March 13, 1922. He left 2 children and was not heard from again. I have searched but cannot find him. I thought he may have either gone into the USA or back to England...but no leads.
I would appreciate any help/leads you may have.

Have you found any proof or other information to the parents and linkage between Overton Sr. Goodman and Overton Jr. Goodman (1793-1865). The Goodman's are down in my family line. Catherine (his daughter) married a Cox and that is how I am kin. Where did you find that sherrif's roll? Appreciate any help and will provide any I find. I just started working on this line and finding it to be challenging.

I just happened upon your post of March 2011. We had talked about this several months ago. I was wondering if you have learned anymore about my Uncle Nathan. You can probably get death certificates from the Schenectady City Hall of records. There may be a fee although I have heard that for genealogical purpose they would waive the fee. Not sure about this though.
