Hello Gayle,

Apparently we would be very distant relatives. I am a descendant of (William Goodrich and Margaret Richardson, John Goodrich and Margery Howes) William Goodrich and Sara Marvin, Ephraim Goodrich and Sarah Treat, Thomas Goodrich and Hannah Reynolds, James Goodrich and Susannah Hale, Thomas Goodrich and Ruth Royce, Aaron Goodrich and Affable Henderson, Mary Goodrich and Orson Eldred, Estella Eldred and Winfield Kelley, (Le)Roy Kell(e)y and Hazel Griffith.

Would you still have the Goodrich book and be able to provide any assistance to flesh out the various branches of this lineage for me, please? Is the Goodrich book available electronically online, web address? Thank you very much for your assistance. I appreciate it.

Kind regards,
Ken Kelly
kenkelly_98pa@live.com

Is there a common ancestor for Wm Goodrich family of CT and Thomas Goodrich of VA?? I thought I'd read somewhere on the web that they've found an ancestor that tied the two together. Can't find it now. Thanks, Nancy

I am also looking for information on his parents but I fear they may never be confirmed. From what I have read his parents are either 1. Henry Goodrich & Jane Savile 2. Richard Goodrich & Muriel Eure. I don't think there is definite proof of either. If you have any information one way or another please let me know.

lol im not GGD but Great grandson ed. my father was born in pensacola in 1936 to ellen burke and richard(Dick) Lowe. Ellen's, who was born in 1913,. parents were Cora (lathrop) Burke and James Burke. Cora came to Pensacola with her aunt and uncle Goodrich sometime around 1905 from Dodge City kansas although they may have lived a short time in kansas city kansas. Coras father was Jeremiah H lathrop. His sister fannie married Erastus Goodrich in Fort Dodge iowa. i have their marriage record if u want it. Jeremiah and Erastus for some reason alwYs lived near each other. they lived first in fort dodge iowa then in golden colorado then cripple creek colorado then dodge city ks. When jeremiahs wife left him Fannie and Erastus Goodrich took Cora to live with them. JeremiH moved to arizona with his son martin but died in 1908.

Lol. I suppose you are right. People are misled by others through online persona all the time now adays. It appears that she had many online admirers in relation to her blog world, but as you have said very few in the real world. But getting back to actual genealogy...I've noticed that Hartley A Goodrich and his family are absent in the 1910 census and that CS Goodrich is not living with his parents in Oklahoma in the 1920 census. This is odd?? Where would he be living at only 13 yrs old. I wonder if he was living with my grandmother's family at that time. Have you ever heard of anybody last named Burke in your family history. James and Cora Burke or their children. Also still would love to see a pic of Erastus and Fannie if any exist.

I assume that one of her kids did the obituary and I even disagree with that LOL I see things as they were nothing more......When MEG died she was all alone her children wouldnt even talk to her one child moved and didnt want her mother to know where to...Rob was out of the picture too as they had divorced...time takes toll on folks then we die lol

just goes to show that you cant really get to know a person from online activity alone. strange that she would leave comments portraying herself as a relation to the cadwalladers. i figured she was in a wheel chair based on the interview she did which i linled earlier. anyway sorry for all the questions. i am dilligently searching for missong links in my own research and i wind up getting sidetracked by tangently related material all the time. i become extremly fascinated by the personal stories of usually long dead people whom become the dust of history. many apologies to you for my mosplaced interest

I'm curious to know though what information you disagree with. There is very little information online to learn about his life overall. And the penscola journal does not have online newspapers for anything after 1910. There seems to be no doubt that he was involved in horseracing as the article from the pensacola journal says. Whether or not there was any motorcycle racing is certainly a question. There are online records for a "ray goodrich" racing and building trumph motorcycles but that ray goodrich lived in NY state. She says she was with her father in the two months before he died; for some reason I figured she got her info during these two months. As far as her mother being murdered; of that there is no doubt. As far as Dorothy Cadwallader being her aunt; it is hard for me to question something she so publicly put foward, though because I can't seem to aquire her mother's maiden name from any online records my research comes up short. Are you step siblings? Was your birth from a later(or earlier) marriage? Just wondering.

I've been doing a bit of research on Curtis Raymond Goodrich. I was trying to figure out why there was seemingly a disconnect between you and the posting person above named Meg about the facts of his genealogy.
It turned out that Megs name was Michelle Goodrich. Her parents were Curtis Raymond Goodrich and Willa (Somebody) I have not been able to find out what here maiden name is yet. They were divorced on April 11, 1973; and then Curtis Raymond got married again on August 8 1975 to a Doris Jean (Bradley or Glover---Florida marriage records actually have two separate entries for the same date for Doris Jean).
Michelle Goodrich had a very tragic life it appears. In 1970 her aunt Dorothy Cadwallader was murdered along with a family of four last name Ohta ,by a serial killer named John Linley Frazier in California. I don't know how she is related family wise to this woman, I only take her at her word from messages left on several forums saying this was her aunt. Then in 1988 her own mother was murdered by her live in boyfriend in Tennessee a guy with the last name Pennell.(google ["Willa Goodrich" Pennell] key words and see court case file as only search result) According to an interview she gave she had a stroke at a very early age which left her partially disabled. Later she had a filing cabinet fall on her in the office and her spine and knee were injured which left her in a wheelchair. Still in appears she was very successful. She was known web wide for a popular blog on "How to make web pages and blogs" a site named Mandarin Designs. She was known by her many friends as MandarinMeg.
One day Mandarin Meg stopped blogging and no-one knew why. It turned out that she had passed away, I suppose by her own hand, judging by various comments on sites paying tribute to her.
You say above that your father was Ray Goodrich too. I have done the research to show that Curtis Raymond Goodrich was definitely the ex-husband of Willa Goodrich; who in turn was definitely the mother of Michelle Goodrich, aka Meg above. Likewise, Curtis Raymond Goodrich(1928) was the son of Curtis Samuel Goodrich(1907)and Ethel Lee, who was the son of Hartley Augustus Goodrich(1884)and Flora ?; who was the son of Erastus Benjamin Goodrich(1860)and Fannie Lathrop; who was the son of Augustus Goodrich (1831) and Lavinia Beach.
My question now is whether you and Michelle were half siblings. I'm not trying to pry. Its just that I have obsessive tendencies when it comes to genealogy mysteries and research and I became very fascinated by Michelle Goodrich's story.
firstcaptain2003 we are definately researching the same family. When you get a chance go to LibraryofCongress chronicalling America and search newspapers in pensacola and dodge city Kansas for names referencing the following people (erastus Goodrich, E goodrich, E B goodrich, Mrs E B goodrich, Hartley goodrich, cora lathrop(my great grandmother and Erastus Goodrich's neice). You wouldn't happen to have any photos of erastus and Fannie?

Just a clue to offer. If you search in Googlebooks for "Phineas Goodrich", several books are listed that include people with this name. One of them "Genealogical and personal memoirs relating to the families of Boston and eastern Massachusetts, Vol. 2, by William Richard Cutter" speaks of a John Goodrich who was a shipwright. This John Goodrich [generation 5] of Haverhill, Mass married first Lydia Morrison, and second Polly Butler. He had 5 grandsons who were Captains of their own ships. It names the five and one of them [generation 7] is named "Captain Phineas Goodrich", but it gives no more details about where Phineas was born or lived. There are a few older Phineas Goodrichs born in the 1700's [maybe they named a son Phineus?] Do you know if your ancestor was a ship captain? You may also need to write to the historical societies where he lived, as there is still SO MUCH information that is not yet digitized.

I'm certainly a newbie here and am struggling to find the parents of Phineas Goodrich, b 1822, New Hampshire, USA. I can easily walk from Phineas forward to my grandfather.

Backward, not so much. I've even tried to work from an earlier time period with some of the Goodrich lines in New England and build them forward. In the end, none I've found have a Phineas Goodrich. I've tried Goodrick, Goodridg, Goodridge and related spellings, all to no avail. Welcome any assistance on the site since I'm rather at my wits end over this one. Thank you in advance.

Great great grandmother Marie Alfreda Goodrich died in Sulphur when I was about 13 or 14. Great great grandfather Homer W Goodrich and great great grandmother Marie Alfreda Goodrich had several children. Lottie was my great grandmother and had my mother's mother Cecilia. Have you visited my family tree for the Goodrich side? It begins with great grandmother Stanley, maiden name Goodrich My paternal tree is in the Goodrich patriarch website. I wrote an article for the Goodrich association about 4 Goodrich union solders buried in the Nashville National Cemetery. Then Dolores followed with an article about Elizur Goodrich. The Elizur buried at the cemetery turned out not to be my ancestor when we got there. But I wrote about FOUR Goodrich Union Soldiers buried there complete with pictures. I joined the association. Their next newsletter is due out soon. Raymond Goodrich is a second cousin and he lives in Lafayette. He did DNA testing and we are descendents of Ensign William Goodrich.

http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/goodrich/pats

Elizur Goodrich b. 27 July 1789, Durham CT, d. 1868, m.
The Charles Goodrich of Benton Co. and New River county are one and the same as the Charles Goodrich of Volusia County. The family lived there the remainder of the elder Charles' life. There is also a son Charles of Volusia County. Most census records give the elder Charles' birthplace as New York, whether New York state or city is still being researched by family members.

Re: Charles Goodrich/Henry Goodrich

My initial concern about the Volusia family of Goodriches was the greatmunber of different names in the 1870 Census not appeaaring before. After relooking at the 1889, 1885, and 1900 Censuses regarding W,A. and N.M. Goodrich families that shows head of household siblings, it now seems probable that is is the family from New River Co.
If anyone has info about the 1870 names, please let me know. Since relationship to head of household is not shown, some may be from other families. Charles always did takein boarders.
