Old York Town is now Toronto --- I'm trying to find the location of Whitechurch, York ...

Our direct line arrived after businesses were established in Ontario --- Paris/Brant/Brantford.

Our Robert b 1790's --- father of our direct line --- with children emigrating with him & after him (older children, m prior to the emigration in 1846) --- living in & working in business of John & James GRAHAM in Paris, Ontario. Since there were generations in Ontario, prior to the arrival of our direct line, do you have any details about the emigration pattern of your line?

George line lived in exact same regions & in Scotland & in the US ... where the son of Robert, our direct line moved to --- in Iowa in 1874. Fewer George names in the line than our Roberts/Johns/James, etc.

Sorry, my George was born in Markham Township,York County where his mother Rachel Mills received land as a Daughter of a United Empire Loyalist. He lived at Markham to 1818 then moved to Bloomington Whitchurch Twp. York County, then back to Markham Twp and finally to Uxbridge Twp, Ontario County,Ontario

Are you looking for Whitechurch or Whitchurch Twp,York County. If it is Whitchurch it is directly north of Toronto and on the east side of Young Street.

Trusting as you find the names of siblings & the generations, there will possibly be a direct link between our families.

Do you know names of siblings and parents of George & where they were born?

The title of the town now known as Toronto --- used to be York Town or Old York Town.

Prior generations were already in Toronto when our one direct line family (Robert & Jean PICKEN GRAHAM and about five of their known 10 children) emigrated to NY & on to Ontario, where they lived & worked with relatives, until they settled upon new land.

After being m in 1860 in Ontario (directly W in Howard, Kent, yet living in Warwick Village, Lambton counties), our direct line moved to new land in Iowa. Near our location is a family of generations of George GRAHAM. It would be the same area where our own direct line of the family pioneered in the US.

Parents of George
Robert Graham b 1765 d 1852/3 -- we think he was born in Pennsylvainia, know he died in Uxbridge Twp, Ontario County, Ontario. Rachel Mills b 1766/70 Sussex County New Jersey US died 1851/2 in Uxbridge Twp,Ontario County. Rachel received her land grant 1801 and was on the land by 1803 as Graham is listed in the Breczy census of that year

3: Edward b 1796 Pen US m: Isabells ( Emma ) Sheffield

Note , the first 5 children were born in Pennsylvainia

James is also a family name . Rachels parents settled around Grimsby Ontario but if there were other Graham's who came with Robert and Rachel I don't know. A number of her brothers and sisters received grants as children of a Loyalist and settled in Markham Twp. York County, Ontario where there are a lot of Graham's, Mills,Johnson's, Badgerow's living still.

I know that Toronto was called Fort York but York County is all around Toronto both east and west of Young Street which was a main road for travel from Fort York( Toronto ) to New Market and to open the lands farther north and east and west of there.

Possably if you could send me some names and dates it would help me find if we connect

Amazing --- early dates --- in the US?

Our Robert was b in 1790's s/o Robert & Mary SLOSS (we think ... Mary was the only one living around the children in the census records ... not sure what happened to Robert - she was noted as a widow as of the 1841 census in AYR, Scotland)

1846 our Robert emigrated with perhaps four or five of ten known children ...

In PA --- the records (?Jeri Burkett) on this message board --- show a GRAHAM m to BARR, etc., and the names & lineage details are appearing to be an exact match to our line.

There is a note in a 1901 obit that the oldest daughter of this Robert was "of Quaker ancestors" (a shock to our family --- many pastors & missionaries, yet not a "quiet" family) & I'm still researching ...

Our direct line, b Ontario 1865 was Robert Edward --- I've been looking for the Edward link of the uncles, etc.

IF your Robert was b so early in PA --- ???

IF your Robert was b in Scotland --- could be the uncle of our line ... a first cousin to our Robert ... do you have details about the Edward name & where it came from?

Hi Cousins,
at least by DNA by marriages we are related.

Am coming along so long behind all of you.
But have found tidbits.
Elizabeth GRAHAM, dau of Joseph GRAHAM and Rachel WARFORD of Warfordsville/burg PA and Jefferson, KY, I guess.

Elizabeth married Jonathan MILLS son of Samuel MILLS D: 1822 Jefferson, KY, sp may have been Mary MILLER is listed.

Rachel MILLS, dau of John MILLS - Rebecca SMITH of Sussex CO .NJ USA all of the other researchers of these lines says.

John's descendant, a male MILLS, and Samuel's descendant, a male MILLS, both did a DNA test, and they both match to my brother's DNA test. At least on the first 12 markers, and most on out to 37 that I did had done.

Others of our category 600 and 600a have gone on out to 67 markers. www.familytreedna.com under MILLS, haplo group I (eye).

At least that links the 2 GRAHAM families, unknown if are the same ones. Need help here.

As I am have not personally verified all of this information myself, am unable to travel.

On the web site, www.gencircles.com is this same GRAHAM family with references about Warfordsburg/ville, too, by duell@NETWORLD.COM, I missed writing down his name. Is anyone familiar with this email address/party??

Rachel WARFORD being the pivotal clue???maybe.

Any help appreciated. Would love to find who are parents of Robert who married Rachel MILLS.

And maybe with some luck, who are parents of John MILLS B: 1733 Of Sussex CO NJ, USA, Lewis MILLS of New Jersey, married Emaline HAMILTON, who also match on DNA markers.

Know that these families are also related by assorted marriages to other surnames, MILLS* - CLINE - SMITH - GRAHAM - WILSON/WILLSON - LOUKS - BOILS/BOYLES - ADAMS - ADAIR - etc.

Thank you

Patricia

*Matthew MILLS is father to Matthew MILLS who married Hannah BOILS/BOYLES, dau of Sarah MILLS and George BOILS/BOYLES. Sarah MILLS dau of John MILLS and Rebecca SMITH of Grimsby, ON CAN< formerly of Sussex CO, NJ USA per all the other reserchers "Out There on the Net".

Who is the father of Matthew MILLS, Sr. married Miss BOYLES/BOILS?

Do you know if there was an Allan George Grahams in your line (approx. date of birth January 6th, 1944 or 46)? I do not know my Graham family but am searching for them and they came from the same area you mentioned.

Thank you.
