Here in Scandinavia it probably comes from the Nordic Saga of Sigurdur. The Grahm sword was used by Sigurdur to kill the dragon Fafner. Probably a lot of scandinavian soldiers got the name Grahm due to their personality:
hard; harsh; severe; grim (spelled not far from "gram").

In Denmark there's a village and a castle named Gram. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gram_Municipality)

Sincerely,
Robert Grahm, Lund, Sweden
from Graham to Grahm?

If I have understood this correctly the name Grahm originates from Graham. So that begs the question - why take away the letter a?

And also - since the spelling/and the surname in general isn't as common as other surnames - is it possible that this spelling of the name (and thus all those who bears the name Grahm today) originates from a specific geographical location?(the same bloodline even?).

Best wishes/
Robin Grahm from Sweden
