Thank you! I did finally figure this out a few weeks ago thanks to a tip from my grandmother; she remembered my great-grandma giving her mother's maiden name (Gross) to a bank. I have now traced this tree to 1797:

Tiffin A Gross's father was William A Gross, born 1831 in Ohio. Tiffin was an undertaker and his father was a reverend. They owned their own business, "W.A. Gross and Son Undertakers and Embalmers." William's parents were, I believe, John Gross, born 1797 in Virginia, and Elmina "Emily" Todd born 1801 in Vermont. I am now looking for the parents of these two. Thanks again for the reply!

I know this was posted forever ago... but I believe I may be able to help. Yes, I do think John and Cornelius were brothers because John had a child named Cornelius. Since it wasn't that common of a name, I'm assuming he named his child after his brother. Which was of great help to me, because further lineage was available in OneWorldTree for Cornelius, but not John. Hope that helps!

Gram family of Ohio

Hi Everyone...

I am wondering if anyone else here is a decendant of John R Gram, born 1871 (parents Joseph Gram and Leah Nitchman). He was married to a Della P (b 1877) and for the life of me I cannot figure out what her maiden name was. I believe they married in 1898, but I can't find censuses with them from 1890 or 1900. That is a critical period which may have told me exactly where she was from. I know she was born in Ohio, and so were here parents. Anyone have information for me on Della or the Gram family in general? Thank you so much!

If you go Selma Rd from Pitchin to N River turn left, the Gram farm was located on the left. white brick farm house and barns on the right side of road. I believe they operated River Dale Dairy in Spfld OH at one time.
Pat( who loved thier ice cream)

I am researching two Johnson sisters who both married into Gram families.

Elizabeth Johnson married John Henry Gram on 4 Aug 1836 in Montgomery Co, OH. Eleven days later, Delilah Ann Johnson married Cornelius Gram on 23 Jun 1836, also in Montgomery Co, OH.

John Henry Gram was born abt Nov 1808 in PA. He died 17 May 1891 in Clark Co, OH.

Cornelius Gram was born 14 Dec 1813 (place unknown).
Re: Gram - Bavaria

I am looking for info on the parents of John (NMN) Gram, b. 1841 in Bavaria, Germany, married 1870 to Katherine (Catherine?) King/Konig. John Gram died 1922 in Iowa and had 7 children with Katherine King: August, b. 1872; Hannah Madaline, b. 1873 in Iowa; Ida; Amanda; John Peter b. 1883 in West Point, Iowa; Clara; and Arthur Herman. I don't know when John Gram came to the U.S. and would like to find out. John Gram had siblings Henry, Katharine, Christian, Elisabeth, Jacob, and Peter.

I would like info on John Gram's parents. I believe his father's name was John Christian or perhaps just Christian. He was born 11 Aug 1810 in Bavaria. Did John Gram's parents come to the U.S.? I believe John Gram's mother was Elisabetha Roth, also born 1810 in Bavaria. Is this correct? Who were her parents? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Robert W. Gram WW2 Army Airborne

Hi. I am looking for him or his family. (He would have been born probably between 1915 and 1926)

He was in the Army Airborne during WW2. He started out in the 17th Airborne Division/139th Engineer Battalion and possibly transferred to the 101st or the 82nd Airborne when the 17th was disbanded in 1945. He would have been in the Engineer Battalion, HQ & S or medical.

I am in the process of writing a book about the Battalion and would like to have him contact me. If he is no longer with us, I'd like the family to touch base with me to give me a summary of his life since the service. This also will be in the book.

I have also succeeded in getting these WW2 Heros to touch base again with their comrades after not seeing each other for almost 60 years. Their reunions have been wonderful.

This project is so important because 17 million personnel files were destroyed in the 1973 file in St. Louis MO. I want to make sure that these men will never be forgotten and will be put in the history books for generations to come!

Thank you for all leads to help me on this tribute to our WW2 Heros.

Sincerely,
Tammy Paynter

Henry was my grandfather, and Elmer was my uncle. Also had an Uncle Henry, Elmer's brother. My father was Fred. Elmer died in 1974, Henry 1965. My father, Fred died in 1975. Henry still has three children who all live in Canada, and Elmer has children living in Michigan. I live in Charleston, S.C. Henry, the (grandfather) married Louisa Barker, my grandmother. She died in the 30's. He remarried Flossie. They lived in New Sarum near St. Thomas, Ont, until their deaths. Henry died in Hyde Park, outside of London, Ont. Fred died in Port Huron, where I lived at that time. They all suffered from heart disease, but my father died of cancer, where the others died of heart disease. That is just about all I know of their health. Henry was middle 70's, Elmer was 67, Henry in late 50's, and Fred was 67. This is all I know. Thelma

Dear gregers, I concur with your findings on the family, I live now in Michigan,USA, Interlochen is the town.My family migrated from Canada in the 1940'S and we believe that we were expelled from the US after the Revolutionary War because we were United Empire Loyalists, and relocated or were driven from the Pennsylvania area by the Americans because of our loalty to the Crown. I have also discovered the village of Gram in the south of Denmark, and believe that this place is where my family ariginates.. or our family we are undoubtedly related to one another Great To here from you e- me back God Bless You Phillip K.
