Since your post is a few years old, I thought I would start by responding here and then try the email address if no replies come in.
The Gravatt/Skaggs/Saltsman line fits in to the family tree I have.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Rozella M. Clark - daughter of Lucinda Sue McDaniel

Your post regarding Rozella Clark Gravatt has really caught my attention !!
I have been searching for the McDaniel family of my great-grandmother Agnes Jane McDaniel Morgan for years and believe that Rozella Clark Gravatt may have been her niece. Other than my grandfather Morgan's fuzzy recollections of an Aunt Sue and Uncle Roy in Grafton, the only official documentation I have on Agnes Jane Morgan is as follows:

1). she was the first wife of my great-grandfather Charles DeHaven Morgan from California, PA

2). she is the mother of my grandfather James William Morgan Sr. born in 1920 Belle Vernon, PA

3). her WV death registration states she was born April 5, 1902, died April 23, 1923 in Clarksburg, was buried in Grafton, and was the daughter of James McDaniel (b:WV) and Rozellla Poling/Harden (b:Indiana).

From this information, I gather that your Rozella Clark Gravatt's mother, Lucinda Sue McDaniel Clark Lake would have been a younger sister to my great-grandmother Agnes; however, since Agnes died at such a young age, the only time she would have appeared on a federal census listing as a sibling to Lucinda Sue would have been in 1910. Unfortunately, all efforts to locate the James McDaniel family listing in 1910 has come up empty and I suspect this is why Agnes' name is not included in any James McDaniel family listings I have found on the web.

I am hoping that you may be able to fill in the gaps with any information regarding the James McDaniel family or perhaps you can refer me to someone who is considered the expert on the James William McDaniel family of Grafton, WV. Any information or suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated and helpful in my efforts locate Agnes' kin.

Thanks in Advance,

Gerilee Morgan Hoak
(gerilee@zoominternet.net)

John Grannison Gravatt was my great grandfather. My grandfather, William Harrison Gravatt, was a brother of Albert Francis Gravatt. One of Albert's and Phoebe's children was Florence Mary Gravatt. She married a Carr, and one of her children was a Terry Carr. Terry and I have been in communication for several years, and a lot of what I know about the Gravatts comes from him. I have a lot of info on the Gravatts, what do you want to know? I have very little info on Charles Francis Gravatt, Sr., or on Charles Francis Gravatt, Jr. Perhaps, we can trade info. Looking forward to hearing from you. Brent

I am searching for my husband's family. His 3rd great-grandfather was Isaac Gravatt born Freehold 1852, and died Sept. 1929 at his daughter's in Trenton, NJ. I cannot find Isaac's parents Family members say he was born in Freehold Township, but he does not show in any records until his marriage to Mary Jane Applegate 1875 at the Freehold Methodist church, and the 1875 agriculture census either living with or next door to his in-laws. Isaac is found from then through the 1920 census living in Freehold, Monmouth County NJ. Any help would be appreciated.

Still searching after 35 years for info on Nancy Cravatt/Gravatt of Green Co. Ky. she was born ca 1783 in VA, Cravatt/Gravatt is probably her married name, who was her husband? She gave permission for her dau. Nellie Gravat to marry Madison Reed (James M. Reed) in Green Co.Ky. in 1832, then thirteen years later gave permission for her granddaughter Nancy Mary Reed to marry Elisha Lane in Green Co. Ky. in 1845. She lives with the Elisha Lane family in the 1850 Green Co. Ky. census. Anyone researching the name Gravatt or Cravatt in Green Co. Ky. please contact me and we can share info.
Wow, in checking the Caroline County African American Married list of 1866, I found a possible link to my ancestors, Jacksons, and their last owner is listed as William B Gravatt. Was able to find him in the 1870 census, actually, 1860 as well. Wonder if these are your ancestors? And if so, would any old bibles exist, that might name slaves of the 1850's and 1860's.
