Graves around Cleveland, Ohio

Hello! I am looking for any information about a very hard-to-find gr gr grandfather, who went by W.D. Graves (William Daniel), who was born around 1854 in Ohio.

He married Fannie/Fanny Bucher/Bucker/Booker (b. ~1854 in NY) around 1876, and had children: Lillian (m. John Horsburgh), Howard (m. Alma Zeitz), William E (m. Louise Ursem/Urson), Maud (m. Vincent Cummisky), Sadie (m. Gilbert Crawford), Fremont (Freemont), and Henry William (my great grandfather, m. Mabel Smith/Schmidt).

They lived in Cleveland, and he won a prize at the World's Fair for his Electric Arc Lamp inventions (the Graves Arc Lamp). He owned the WD Graves Electrical and Manufacturing Co, also known as the WD Graves Electrical and Machine Works.

I know this is a stretch, but if anyone has the slightest bit of information that could point me in the direction of finding out where he came from, who his parents and siblings were, etc, I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

I was able to trace my g grandfather back to Bela (1750-1852) there, and then further back to John Graves who immigrated to Concorde, MA in 1635. I am a descendant of Bela's son Jeremiah, his son Curtis Parkhurst, his son George Frank, his son Daniel Curtis and his son James Ray.

Does anyone remember the name of the GREYHOUND BUS DRIVER that drove the SALINA-TOPEKA-KANSAS CITY ROUTES back in 1951 (there may have been other towns on that route and he may have driven other years besides 1951)? His last name was something like CRAVES, CRAVENS, or GRAVES. He was quite friendly and was well liked by everyone. He was married and had children. This is going back 61 years, but I would suspect lots of folks rode his bus. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Daniel Graves was married to Patsy Howel,1828,Rockingham Co.Va.His father was Dan'l in 1810 Census for that Co., and Daniel was a very young child. Daniel and Patsy had 4 children there:WJ( m.Eliza Jane Harless, Mont. Co.,George Wm(m Mahulda C. Harless),Elizabeth(m Wm Poole),Joseph(b 1837).When Daniel and four children moved to Mont.Co by 1840 census there was no Patsy. He stayed around Long Shop until after all the children were grown and lived with his daughter and her husband until he died between 1880-1890.He never, ever remarried. Other than Elizabeth, her husband and Daniel,no one else lived in the household, during the children's adult lives, and Daniel's old age.I do not doubt you may be related, but Great Grandpa George never mentioned a step mom to my dad.....??????Please recheck your authenticated data.

Looking for information about some family. We are looking for more on the Graves' because they separated and divorced from a Denslow in the 1960's or 1970's.

Lloyd Lafayette Denslow married Helen L. Graves. Helen L. Graves (b. December 10, 1904- d. August 8, 1985) is from the Albany, NY area. They got married and had a son named Alan Lloyd Denslow (b. October 22, 1937-current).

Helen Graves (a daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth Graves of 576 Clinton Ave, Albany, NY) also had a younger sister named Alice E. Graves who died September 2, 1918 at age 9 years, 11 months, 13 days.
Arthur Graves is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Graves.
Elizabeth Graves is the daughter of Mrs. Vandenberg.

Lloyd L. Denslow and Helen Graves Denslow raised Alan Denslow in Brooklyn, NY until he was a teenager. Alan was sent to Stratford, CT to live with Jeanne and Warren Tillbrook (Jeanne is a cousin to Alan). After separating Lloyd moved to the Chicago area, remarried, and died around 1982. He never contacted Alan again after moving.

Also have names listed on a newspaper clipping but no information: Mrs. Vandenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Graves, Helena Graves, Mr. and Mrs. William Graves, and Mary Hasledon (daughter of George and Harriet Haseldon of Argustville, NY and later Warnerville, NY. Harriet's maiden name is Clow.).

Any information would be extremely helpful!

Hi Larry, I too have been looking into the Ryan-Ryun ancestry. I have seen this picture before. Myrtle Graves daughter (Ara Bates, wonderful Lady) had the picture. That was back in the middle 70's, in California. She passed away in 2004 in So. California. She has a daughter and a son living. I am not sure, but it seems pretty probably they would have it. She also had other pictures which she shared with me. I have a snap shot photo of Abbigale and Jacob Ryun from her. Mary Agness is my mother's mother(or my grandmother.) Good luck , we need to keep in touch. Thank You so much for whatever you do. I am but a beginner but do love it!!

Hi Wanda,
I have been looking into the Jacob M. Ryun Family for years. You may have come across some of my posts.
I have attached a photo taken at the time of death of Abigail Ryun of her family. Robert and Wilbur are holding pictures that I am assuming are of Jacob and Abby. So far I have not been able to track down these portaits in Washington and Oklahoma. My thought is that they were handed down though Wilbur and Ruth kids Myrtle Graves and Agness Powers which may be related to you. Can you help locate these portaits?
Thanks
Larry

I suppose she gave the information on the death certificate, because Joe Powers was in Idaho, working and didn't make it back in time to do it himself. Their Dad Wilbur Fisk Ryan died in St. Louis(where Myrtle lived with her husband. He is buried in Crickett,Ark. ?? Do you know where this is at? His death certificate list a Mary as his last spouse. She passed away before him. I don't have any info on her. She must have been spouse after Ruth Ann passed away. Thanks for any help. Wanda B.

My grandmother, Mary Graves, was a child when her parents were killed (supposedly in an auto accident). She was born in 1904 and lived in Wayne County Nebraska. Mary had two older brothers and all three kids were farmed out to family friends or relatives and never saw each other again after their parents died. Her parents names as well as the boys (who appear to be about 5 - 7 years older than Mary) are unknown. Mary went to live in Sioux City, Iowa with a family named Thoma and eventually married Howard A Preston in Minneapolis in 1926. Any help?
