You didn't give me any dates,
and I cant think of any james Gretton.

Its a pity, because I cant find any info about Thomas Henry Gretton's father and before.

was my father
henry is from leicester wentto NZ in about 1904
his father was daniel gretton
so i dont know if there is any relationship.
I do know that daniel was disowned by his parents. he was a naughty boy and married a jewish girl and things went downhill when he took to the ( not just one either) bottle.
however there must be some relationship some where down the line.
Its hard to get info from this end though.

I've been trying to contact you for a while now. What info have you on Margaret, wife of James Gretton? I gather from Paul Gebhard that you know that she was called 'Pen'. she was my maternal grandmother and I'm having difficulty in tracing her ancestors.

Looking for info on a John Gretton born abt 1794 in Shelton or Stretton, depends on which source. He married Mary Sutton who was born abt 1800. They had Mary 1833, Fanny 1834, John 1836, John 1837, Frederick 1839, Barbara 1841. Thats all the children I know of.

I am looking for information on the children of Levi and Ann Gretton. Levi was my great-grandfather. He was born in Carlton, near Nottingham (UK) about 1819. He married Ann Adams in Newark-on-Trent in 1844, and he died in 1868. They had seven children - Henry (1845), Joseph (unsure of date), Sarah Ann (1849), Harriet (1851), John (1854), William [my grand father](1860) and thomas (1861). Don't know the maiden name of his wife Mary who died in 1919. Childrens names were Lucy, Evelyn, Elsie, Frank, Albert, Leslie and Clarence. Leslie was born on the 20.3.1904

Wondering if this line of enquiry will lead back to William Gretton chistened 25.5.1749 at Long Clawson, Leicester. His parents were John and Ann.

Hello there! I'm a descendant of John James Gretton. My mother was Lillian Gretton b 1902 d 1904(!) Her father was James Clifford Gretton and his father was Clifford Gretton. I'm trying to trace my grandmother's ancesters. She was Margaret Evans b 1870. I'm new to this - only started last week.
So are we related? I'd love to know the connection.
My mother moved down to Bournemouth during the war where I was born in 1945. I'm still living there.

Not sure if you've had any more info on this in the last year, but Frank Gretton was my Grandfather. He was a great bloke who didn't have much hair but made excellent raspberry/loganberry vinegar! He lived in Nottingham and I seem to remember hearing of connections in Liverpool ...

My great great grandfather was definately Alice's brother, Clifford Gretton born 1850, for your information Alice had 14 nephew's and neice's from Clifford and Sarah Ann (Siviter).

I am a Gretton from Birmingham, England. I have information of a relative Raymond Gretton who moved to Tasmania. Raymonds father was born in 1879 called George who married Gertrude....could Thomas Henry be from this strand of Grettons? If you think so and would like the rest of the family information I have please contact me. FYI George Gretton was one of 14 children!
