He married Maria Fasano.(1869-1961) My dad had 2 brothers, Al (Alfonso)(1895-1985) & Daniel (Donato)(1901-1954) Cannot find any records for Alfonso Sr. in USA. He & Maria came from Pennsylvania where my dad was born. Both Al Jr. & Dan were born in Italy, I think. Anyone have any info on this family?

Hello Christine,

Hope you still check Ancestry. My Grandmother, Vincenza Coppola and your Great Grandmother, Carmela Grieco were sisters. I speant a lot of time with your GM, as the sisters visited often. My Mother, Philomena Puso, was Vincenza's daughter, and a women ahead of her time because she drove a car from when she was a teen and took us all over. We lived in NJ and visited the Grieco's often. Elsie lived with Zie Carmela, there is Jenna, Carmela, Alfred (who I last saw in 1992, when I was in Florida) and the rest of the clan. Your Grandmother was my favorite, such a sweet women, I don't remember your Grandfather that much but do have many picture of them, especially when they went on vacation to Italy in the 1950. Would love to hear from you. I am writing a book on the family, if it never makes it to publication, at least the future generations will know the history. We do come from a loving a warm family that spent a lot of time together and have beautiful memories of them.

Hello Debra,
My grandfather was Tony Grieco. He came to the US around the turn of the last century. He had 2 brothers that I am aware of, one of whom was Csoimo and Ben MAY have been the other one. Tony married Virginia Pendolf, probably about 1908. In 1917, Tony and Virginia, with 2 children split up. Tony wanted to return to Italy and Virginia wanted to stay in the US. Tony went back to Italy, Barri area I believe, was drafted into the Italian army and died of blood poisoning in N. Africa. Barri was the home of either Tony or Virginia. Not sure which. Does this fall into place with any of the other information you have? Please reply, Allen Grieco

My great grandmother was Angela Grieco (we say it the same way as your dad) born in Terlizzi about 1883. She married Vincenzo Longo who setteled in Westchester, NY. She came to the US in 1906 but returned to Italy by 1910 with her 3 daughters. She died there between 1910 and 1921 when her husband went to Terlizzi to bring his daughters back to the US. ANy of this sound familiar to you? I have just begun to research this line and am afraid I have little more to offer. Paula

my grieco family

my name is melanie, and my paternal grandmother's name was AMELIA CRAGO. her fathers name (if i remember correctly) was ANTHONY CRAGO (it was GRIECO at one time but when he moved over here, to america, they changed it a lil' bit)...i don't have all of my notes with me because it's rare for me to find that many of us, linked or not, around....my family seems to have just "appeared" and that's about it....
but from what i can remember it seems as though AMELIA was born about 1905 in Rossiter, PA....and died sometime in the 1960's ...i either have a copy of her death certificate or some kind of notes to check by at home....and she was one of about 8-10 kids, her youngest sibling is still alive at age 82, Matilda (we call her aunt Til) Til still lives in Penn.
Amelia and her siblings were first generation americans from what i can gather...i have been told that her father ANTHONY came from italy------i don't know where, when, or if he was even married there or if he waited 'til he got here....
but anyway, AMELIA CRAGO then married GUISEPPI(joseph) VISELLI, who immigrated to america from Ripi, Province di Frosinone some time between 1910-1920....
i hope that someone out there can help me a little, i do have some scant notes at home, but they don't tell me much more than what i have listed here.....i'm just stuck i guess unless i can find something else....
but thanx for reading my post anyway....
melanie viselli

Finding the third brothers' family

My grandfather and two brothers came from Potenza Italy in 1901. One brothers name is Paul. The third brother died in a horse and carriage accident at an early age. I do not know what his name was. I would like to find the third branch of the family because we do know he had a wife and children. Antonio and Paul settled in Chicago so I think the third brother probably did too. Anyone with any information, please reply. My name is Deborah Grieco. Thanks.

My Grandfather was Charles Grieco. Our family lives in Rochester, NY. Do not know if there is a connection, as I do not my great grandparent's names. MY grandfather was married to Beatrice Fegadel (Fegatelli). He passed away around 1966. We have many Griecos here. Most are our family. The Fegadel side is much more spansive as my grandmother was one of 6 children. We have not gotten to know our grandfather's side of the family.

In my family background is the name Grieco. Our family name was Grieci, my great grandfather married a Grieco. They were from Melito Irpino, Avellino, Italy and some from Bonito, Avellino, Italy. Most of the messages I read do not indicate where in Italy your relatives may have come from. I have had very little luck tracing Grieci, except at the Mormon Family History center. There are so many Griecis and Griecos that it's difficult to distinguish who may be related and who may just have the same name.

I'm helping my dad locate any Grieco relatives hopefully trace his family back to Italy. My grandfather, Vincenzo, came to NY during WWI with his brothers Tony ?. He later sent back to Italy for Louise (Luiza?) Zolle, whom he married in Delaware. They had 14 children, 8 survived to adulthood. The children's names were Mauro, Florence (Firenza), Josephine, Jimmy (Vincenzo), Rose, Elizabeth, Virginia (Vincenza), and Eugene. If any of this fits in, please e-mail me.

Hi there, we live in New Zealand and are trying to track down our great grandfather, Giovanni Cuomo, from Naples or there abouts. We Know that he had a brother called Salvatore and we think that the Giovanni and Salvatore in your message maybe a link to our research. We know that Giovanni came to New Zealand in the 1800's, and apparently Salvatore went to America. We are wanting to know the dates of Giovanni's birth and his parents names, anything will help! Both were 12 years old and no apparent families were with them. They came through the Port of NY and settled in Hudson County, NJ. I'm hoping this info will lead to the birthplace of my great-grandfather, Antonio Spiotta.

Married Maria DiGiono (born? from Pisticci, Italy)

They had 8 children:
Frank
Jimmy
Leonard
Ralph
Vincenzo (James)
Julius
Margaret
Rosie

I am the grandaughter of Vincenzo (James) and there are three living children from that generation: James, Margaret, and Rosie.
At some point, the family went from NY to Chicago, after 1915?

In addition, I know that Guiseppe had a daughter, Guilia/Julia from another marriage (?). I know that she died in the US, but I don't know anything about her family.

Also, Giuseppe's father was Francesco Grieco (born c. 1850? and arrived to NY in 1904 from Craco).

If anyone can help, please email. I would really appreicate it.

Thank you - colette
