YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the L.E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home, for Ms. Teresa Law, 60, who departed this life Jan. 20, 2012.

Ms. Law was born May 21, 1951, in Jackson, Georgia, a daughter of Jesse and Mildred Foster Grier.

She was a 1969 graduate of East High and had attended Penn Ohio College.
She was currently employed by Youngstown State University as a Student Service Counselor. Ms. Law was a member of the Youngstown East Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses. She loved gardening, cooking and her pet dog.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Mildred Davis of Youngstown, Ohio; two daughters, Teresa (Antonio) Reid of Bedford Heights, OH and Teaza (Raymont) Ingram of Youngstown; a step-daughter, Brittany (Clint) Greer of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Raymont Jr. and Xavier Ingram; her former husband, Timothy Law; an aunt, Ethel L. Gamble of Youngstown; an uncle, Bill Foster of Boardman, Ohio; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse; her stepfather, Robert Davis; and her grandmothers, Anna M. Foster and Genevia Grier.

Friends may call one hour prior to the services from 10 to 11 a.m

This was my great great grandfather. They had 7 kids, John F Kleinz was my Great Grandfather and William was his son and my Grandfather. Chris Kleinz was from Philadelphia. I am also William Kleinz and my son is William. My brother is John F. Kleinz. We have just found other Kleinz's is the Philadelphia area. I hope this helps you with your need for information. My Uncle Earnest Grier attends the meetings on a regular basis but he will not attend this year an neither will i My Father Elmer Grier Jr passed away in 07 so... I was on here trying to get info on my Great Grandfathers father William Grier 1880's maybe I've seemed to hit a brick wall. thanks

I am your cousin Craig Mobley. I have not attended a family reunion since the one in Philadelphia a couple of years ago. I am not going to the Birmingham reunion this week, are you? I am pretty sure that we are related through my great grandmother, Nora McDowell Mobley. I think that there are several ways that we are related, but the only one tht I know for certain is through her sister Sally McDowell Watson, who had a dughter who married a Grier. I remember meeting her at some reunions some years ago. It would be nice to hear from you.

I have come across a box of pictures that contain some very old photos, most have no names or dates. Some that do are of an photo taken in March 1913 of Erma Blanche Grier age 9, Elsie Camille age 5, and Willis Cranford age 2. If any of the kids in these pictures are of your relatives, I would love for you to have and share these pictures. They belonged to a lady in Mena AR named Helen Byers Green who passed away several years ago. The box of photos came to me after the tornado in Mena in 2009.

My mother's maiden name was Grier. She came from Dover Street, Glasgow, Scotland.

Grandfather served in the Royal Scots Greys in the Great War.

Grier is a Scottish name - I think possibly from the Isle of Lewis, but couldn't be certain abt this.

Holy cow! Other Greer descendants looking for the old folks!
Samuel Tate Greer, born March 8 1814 in Tenn. is as far back as I can get and still believe I am in the right family. I get various spellings for his wife Maria(h) Carrey, Corey, Cary, but I am pretty sure she is one of those.

I am trying to figure out when my grandfather Cyril Evan Greer's family came to America, and from where.

So far I have my great-grandparents George B. and Myrtle Noyes (One or two of you are that close to me on the tree huh?) And I think George's parents are Jacob Whitman/Whitney and Letitia Erzelia Walker. Then I get stuck at Samuel T. Greer. Some people say his parents were William and Jemima but I cannot confirm it. Like I said, I want to know where they came from (before the US) and just guessing "MacGregor" isn't really good enough.

If anyone has PHOTOS online I can see of anybody back past my grandfather I would LOVE to see them. Please email me if we are on the same family tree, I have some info, maybe we can share! carljamesson@goldencenter.org

I am a direct descendant of Robert Grier's son Moses. I would love to exchange and compare information with you. There are several of us from his family working on him. I was interested to see that you had his middle name. We had never seen it on any documents. Of course, he named a son Isaac Robert, so it stands to reason that might be his middle name.

My son Harry Grier recently tested with Family Tree DNA. He is classified I1 within the Greer/Grier Viking Group. Our Georgia Grier branch descends from Robert Isaac Grier b. 20 Feb 1735 in Northern Ireland, possibly Armagh or Antrim. Robert was from a Quaker family. He changed his name from Greer to Grier after he arrived in America. He arrived in Pennsylvania in 1749. He returned to Ireland to marry Catherine Elizabeth McMurry Burns, a widow, of a different faith, probably Presbyterian. Robert and Catherine returned to PA and purchased land in Lower Chanceford, York, PA. They and 6 sons and daughters were in Georgia by 1773 where they remained. I can find no connection with the other Greer/Grier colonial families. If you can help we will appreciate it.

Also who else is collecting Grier/Greer/ Grierson Y-DNA reports? Harry is already participating in the Greer/Grier Project, McGregor Project and Ulster History Project,and Scottish Clans Project through FTDNA. We would be happy to provide report results to any group conducting Grier and related surname projects.

Need help on Alice Ellen Grier West b 1860 - Tennessee. Was an Orphan

I'm looking for any information on Alice Ellen (Ella) Grier West. She was born July 14, 1860 in Tennessee. She was an orphan and by what I have gathered, she was moved into missouri. She then had a daughter Armelia Leona Grier. I am thinking she might have been married before her marriage to Samuel M West March 15, 1890. After marriage they had multiple children. She passed away July 22, 1937 in Licking, Missouri. And she is buried in Licking Cemetery. Please any information would help.

John Oliver Grier was the brother of Arthur and Howard. I show he had eleven siblings. John married first Nellie Anna Wettlaufer in 1903 and second Lola A. Blodgett in 1918. Have you information on his first wife Nellie? Did they have any children?

I need information on this family. John Wilson and Sarah Cockfield Dennis were the parents of George Preston Dennis.
George was born Sept 12, 1869 and died Oct. 25, 1946. This information comes from George Preston Dennis' death certificate. I have that John Wilson Dennis was born about 1840. He is 70 yrs old on the 1910 census for Williamsburg County, SC...living with his son Preston Dennis and family.
I have no information on Sarah COCKFIELD Dennis at this time.
Trying to also find the parents of "Addria" Lillian Grier, the wife of George Preston Dennis.She was born about 1870.
These families could have also lived in Georgetown or later on Horry County, SC....

John Pernell Grier, Ossie evelyn Grier, and Augustis Grier. Osiie married into the Keys family from Virginia, Her husbands name was Linwood Keys, they went on to have 9 children

Peter Jerry Grier is my greatgrandfather.
He was married to Martha Alice Frankenfield.
They were married December 18, 1878 in Watsontown. Don't know what state. They had
six Children. There names were; Mable, Frank,
Harry, Nellie(married William Schleh),
Raymond, and Carroll.
Harry was my grandfather. He married Ethel D.
Miller. I don't know when, maybe 1910 or 1911. They had nine children and I know two
of them were born in Nebraska one was Clarence R.Grier born February 21, 1912 and the otherPatricia Lee Grier was born around 1915.I think she was born in Aurora, Nebraska.
Any help would be appreciated on getting infro on Peter Jerry Grier. Like when he
was born and where he came from, who his parents were.

David Greer did the DNA testing and so did Brown Grier and we are in this Greer/Grier line that has the Viking connection. Our line is James 1708, James 1738, Alexander 178?, John M. 1804 who went to MS and AR.

James 1738 b. Antrim Co was a brother to Thomas and an Uncle to James (Jimmy), son of John who stayed in Ireland.

I was told that all these Greers came to America at the same time. James & Margaret, Thomas, James, Jimmy, Mary and
another sister (Margaret or Martha). Do you have any info from Ireland?
