Oma L. Grimsley aka Eldridge Grimsley

I am looking for date of death and burial of Oma L. Grimsley
aka Eldridge Grimsley. Forums and kingsmeadow has him for some reason listed as Eldridge. No proof to why. Oma is son of J. L. and Polly (Hulse)Grimsley--Born in Jonesboro, Tenn., Aug. 23,1878. Married to Ella M. Herron, born in Zanesville, OH, in 1912. Kingsmeadow has him passing away on
Jul. 24, 1926, but I am not finding any evidence of this yet. I have no idea where he passed away at or when his wife died. There son John O. Grimsley was born in Los Angeles County 1916. John and his sister, Rosa shows up living in Swink, Otero, Colorado with their aunt Rosa Bowser on the 1930's census. Sadly, John O. died in 1931. Family story is that a young boy fell into a grain silo and we believe it was Johnny. I have no info on little Rosa. Did Ella remarry?
Oma L. was listed on the "Who's who in the Pacific Southwest: a compilation of authentic
biographical sketches of citizens of Southern California and Arizona". He had an office of LA. He owned New La Paz Gold Mining Co.; member Chamber of Mines and Oil; So. Cal. Automobile Assn.; Municipal League; Sierra Madre Club and
moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, S. A., 1900; engaged in mining in Andes mountains, 1901-03; operated Wild West Show throughout North and South America, 1906-08. Maybe, he is buried in South America?? Any info would be gretly appreciated.
There's a couple of people that got in touch with me through Genes Re-United regarding the Grimsley Tree - a Denise Soulsby - you'll have to look out for her.

There was a Beatrice Hewitt Marshall and she was living at 53 Pottery Street, Kirkcaldy when she died. Her only living child, Alexander Stewart Hird, was born at 5 Water Wynd, Crief.

Any information your wife have, however little, would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Tracey

Malinda Jackson and Littleton Grimsley had several children. It appears that she stayed in the central Georgia area. Her youngest daughter, Malinda was born in 1836, the same year Littelton died. Malinda Jackson died in 1850 when the youngest daughter would have been 14. I feel he stayed in the area since her son Thomas had a son named Emory C who died in Schley county. Schley is close to Merriwether county. Her parents were Coleby and Elizabeth. He was born in North Carolina. She was born in Germany. Emory C's grand son is my grandfather, Lester Coleby Grimsley. Hope this helps.

His e-mail address
is kingsley@ntin.net but I could not contact him directly.
I had to do a search of kingsley@ntin.net or the kings meadow
and then click on to the link that states "personal website
of Larry D.
Re Joseph Grimsley you mentioned in the last post. I find a reference to the following Joseph in the info supplied by Kent Grimsley to:

Joseph Daniel Grimsley, native of Highland County,
Ohio, Penn Township, New Petersburg; Fayette County in 1891, Concord Township, Washington Court House (b.4/-/1857) m.8/22/1880-Ellen Cunningham, aka "Ellie," native of Highland County, Ohio,Hillsboro; Fayette County, Washington Court House (b.4/-/1858)(Highland MR 10:219; Fayette Census 1900:10:85,86)

His father was:
J. Grimsley, native of Culpeper County, Virginia,Culpeper Court House; Rappahannock County (1835),Wocdville; Ohio
in 1845, Highland County, Paint Township, New Petersburg, farmer ( b. 1822 )m.-Elizabeth J. --- , Highland County, Ohio, Paint Township, New Petersburg, housekeeper (12/28/1822-11/25/1904)
(Culpeper Census 1830:.105:20; Rappahannock Ceneus 1840:35:10; Highland Cemeteries 431)

Could Elizabeth J be the Cunningham you mention?
I'd be happy to work on this a bit more for you if you send me more details on dates, etc.
diwag38@gmail.com

Since the locale is the same, I feel this person must be connected to your search. Do you have dates of birth for Miriam and Joseph?

Hello. I am in no way related to the Grimsley or allied families, therefore I cannot answer any specific questions.

A few years ago I bought a used car, and in the trunk...pushed way to the back, was a Bible. When I looked at it, the name June Grimsley was inscribed into the front cover. Inside this Bible was a handwritten page which listed the following:

Husband
Earnest Dale Grimsley
Wife
Nina Pearl Martin Grimsley

Their children (9) are listed as well.

I would like to return this Bible to a member of this family.
Thank you,

Yes, this is a lot of information.

I will add it to my tree.

I will also check out his site.

The 361 page document didn't mention either of them.

Rich

Yes, I have a copy of the original work published in 1976. Some of it has been updated and refined since then, but since it's in the original, I can send you info on that part of it...the ancestors back a few generations.
Please send an email address to me so I can send it direct and not clog up this message board.
Thanks.
Diane
