Hi,

my name is Sue Ballard. I am researching the family tree of Harold Joseph Grundy, son of Harold and Lily Grundy of Leigh, Lancs. I have come to a bit of a stand still. Harold Jnr had a brother named David and was stationed in Singapore during the WW2 and later settled in Stevenage Herts. Does this connect with your Grundy's in any way?

Thanks

Sue

If I am correct Robert is the fifth of seven children (perhaps more that I have missed) of William Grundy and Martha Kay mar 4 July 1846 at Stand All Saints. William and Martha being my 3rd Gt Grandparents along my mother's paternal line. I am descended from Thomas thier first son.

Maurice Hemingway

Hi, I am new to this but I am also researching the Grundy name.

My name before marriage was Grundy, my fathers name was Michael Grundy born 1934 died 1985 he came from Bury Lancashire, as far as I know so did his brothers Roy and Peter also their sister Susan, their parents were Victor Grundy and Elizabeth McConnell.

I have managed to trace the Grundys in my family back to a William Grundy born 1771, also managed to trace the McConnells back to James McConnell born 1823.

If anyone could confirm this information or if there is anyone who thinks they may be related to me please get in touch.

Yours

chel27

Jackie,

I'm helping a co-worker of mine do his family tree and I'm stuck with his John and Ellen Grundy in Union Co., KY. I'm wondering if they are the same folks. I have John born abt. 1848 and Ellen born abt. 1852. The last census I can find them in was the 1880 Union co KY census. I don't think they were married in the 1870 census and since they are African American its going to be very difficult finding them before that.

I'm hoping you are still out there as I see your original post was a long time ago.

Thanks,
Jenny

Recently I inherited pictures from my husband, Robert Northrup's side of the family. Through these pics, I have come to know the family of Lydia(Neusius) and Norman Grundy. It would be wonderful if I could connect with some of their decendants. My husband is the nephew of Bertha(Dominick) and Herman Neusius, the parents of Lydia Grundy. The names of Lydia and Norman's children are Sandra (Grundy) Clark and David Grundy. Their grandchildren through Sandra are LuAnn (Clark) Bowen, Chris and Billy Clark(Twins) and Beth Clark. LuAnn had a daughter named Mandy Lee Bowen. If any of the "Grundys" are doing family research and see this post, I would love to connect and get to know you. The pictures I have of Lydia and Norman, and their family are wonderful.

Thanks so much, Kim (Persells) Northrup

This family I believe is in the Saratoga/Middletown area. Have you ever heard of General Daniel Morgan and his sharpshooters at the Battle of Saratoga? The Grundys, if they are the Grundys of President Martin Van Buren, were traveling back and forth from England without papers of any kind.

We sure have a coincidence here.

Have you ever heard of Major Mordecai Myers of the War of 1812. He was the Mayor of Schenectady NY? His wife Charlotte Bailey was a cousin of President Martin Van Burens wife Hanna Hoes.

My research includes many people including Cardinal John McCloskey of Albany NY and William Cooper the Mayor of Albany New York. William Cooper was James Fenimore Coopers father. The Cardinal brother Bishop William McCloskey was the Bishop of Louisville KY.

The center of this is when William Myers of Kentucky married Caroline Grundy the niece of Felix Grundy.

Sorry I dunno if James is a surname. But here is what I do know. James Grundy b. 1855 Ireland m. Catherine (Kate) Unknown b. England?. I believed they lived in Liberty & Middletown in Sullivan County, NY. As far as I know they didnt immigrate with any family members. They had a daughter Julia 1878 and Joseph James b. 1880. Joseph James m. Helen Kerwood. Eventually the family ended up in Malta,Saratoga NY.
Please let me know if any of this connects with your research, I am at a dead end.If you need and Van Buren information. My husband has a connection there

My great grandfather James Frederick Grundy, born 1906, came from Lancashire to the United States with his father Frederick Grundy, born around 1879, married to Gertrude (born 1878). This is as far as I could find, does anyone have any further ancestry for these?

It is my understanding I am related to Attorney Felix Grundy through is niece Caroline Grundy who married William Myers.

I have been trying to sort this out for years. William Myers' father Jacob Myers born 1739 was a surveyor from Frederick MD. He seems to have a cousin also named Jacob Myers, also from Frederick MD, who with Ralph Morgan started an Myers Slate Creek Iron Works at Slate Creek Kentucky. The Iron Works later somehow ends up in Robert J Breckinridge's hands. Ralph Morgan started Morgan Station Kentucky. Robert J Breckinridge was related to General John C Breckinridge.

Seems the Grundy have a connection to George Washington when Caroline Grundy received some money or land from General Alexander Spotswood who was married to Elizabeth Washington.

Anyway, if you want to talk Grundys, I have lots of records sent to me by another Myers relative.

Hi Neal,

I am researching the Grundy line for a friend of mine. His original impression was that he was directly related to the famous Senator/Attorney General, but I don't see a connection.

The information given to me about my friend's Felix Grundy was that he was born in 1808, married Elizabeth PILE (Pyle? or Piles?) and had several children including another Felix (b: 1842) and Susan E. GRUNDY (1840-1931). If you have any information on these Grundys, I'd appreciate it if you could pass it along.

I read on the message board that you had a substantial file on the Grundy's that you might be able to email to me. Would you mind doing that? I tried contacting you by using your neald@centerville.net address, but that email bounced back.

Here's my email address: jeff@sengstack.com

John Grundy, Yorkshire

An ancestor of mine, John Grundy (my paternal great-great-grandfather) originated from the Huddersfield, Yorkshire area, according to our records.
He was born about 1826, apparently the son of John Grundy (labourer, born about 1791)) and Mary Taylor (from Ireland).
He married Ann Butt in 1848, in NSW, Australia, had 11 children and died in 1910, also in NSW.
My problem is he is the only ancestor of mine who suddenly “materialised” in Australia in about 1840. I can find no record whatsoever indicating how or when he actually arrived.
There are a couple of John grundy's in the convict lists, but none match the details i have.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

The Fred Grundy married to my GGrandmother was born in Michigan around 1884. I found a War Registration (Toledo, Ohio)that shows him born 1884, and the 1930 Census (Sylvania, Ohio) shows him born in Michigan around 1885. That is about all I really know. I am hoping to get some information about what happened to Lillie after she left Ohio. I have no death information on her.

Is this Fred Grundy do you know for sure if he was the Fred Grundy that m. Laura Davis in Ky. in 1908 and had one daughter, Bertha, they split very quickly after that. My grandmother was only 14 or 15 when they married but it does have he is from Michigan. I do have a photo of him with my grandmother but I do believe it was taken at the funeral of my aunt, his daughter, Bertha, who died in 1925.
Thank You
Roberta
