Hi My name is Madeline and I am hoping that you are the missing link. My mother, Juanita, is a Guardiola. Her father was from Arecibo and his name was Luis Guardiola, born in the 1800's. He worked in the Central in Carolina until his death in the 1940's. My mother described him as having curly red hair and green eyes, not very tall. His first wife may have been Antonia Figueroa. They lived in San Juan and Arecibo and had about 9 or 10 children. Some of the names were Evaristo,Lucia, Francisco, Eustaquio, Enrequeta, Carmen. His second wife was Cruz Osorio, my grandmother. If this fits in with the info you have please post it, or feel free to email me. Thanks.

Hi, My name is Madeline. My mother, Juanita, is a Guardiola. Her father was Luis Guardiola. He was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico in the 1800's. His family apparently came from Vizcaya, Spain. My mother tells me he had curly red hair and green eyes and worked in the Central in Carolina, P.R. until his death in the 1940's.
His first wife may have been Antonia Figueroa, and they had many children. The following are the names of some of their children: Evaristo, Francisco, Eustaquio, Enriqueta, Carmen, Ana.They may have lived in San Juan then moved back to Arecibo. I am still in the process of finding out more info. His second wife was Cruz Osorio, my grandmother. If you have more pieces to this puzzel, please feel free to post it. I have always heard there is only one Guardiola family who have obviously expanded around the world. Lets connect the dots and break the cycle of " aye mijo, uno no hable de esas cosas". God Bless you all!

I have foumd that my forebears came from Spain in the 1730's to Agualiuentes and then to El Benado (Venado), San Luis Potosi, Mexico. There are descendents throughout the state of San Luis. Some of those names are: Geronimo, Pilar, Jose Maria, and others I cannot recall. The Curch records of San Sebastian Martir in el Venado should have those records. I order them through the Church of Latter DAy Saints but was unable to read them because they were so dark.

Hi Jose,

I am Olivier, I am married to your cousin Martha from El Paso. We live in London. You may have seen us at Chantelle's quinciniada a couple of weeks ago. I have been doing my family tree in France for the past 25 years, and I have offered Martha to try to do some research on the Guardiola family, but as I do not speak spanish, this is actually quite difficult for me. I was staying with your aunt Carolina and she gave me most of the information I have got. I am going to try to put it on paper.
I also advise you to talk to your grandmother and try to gather the family paper and family story she may have. Then you should try to write to the city of Julimes in Mexico to try to get birth, wedding and death certificates of everyone your grandmother may remember living there.

Let's stay in touch,

Take care,

Olivier

Hi, another Guardiola here!

The name Guardiola is first found in Leon, Spain between 409-711 AD.

From there the name travelled through the caribbean, Mexico (where my father was from), and Central/South America.

The earliest heraldraic symbols within the traditional Spanish Coat of Arms seems to be Two Eyes over/under Sand, and three Fleur de Lis.

Your heraldraic symbols would of course use traditional Spanish and Mexican Coats of Arms, then include symbols denoting your close family history (yours, your fathers, grandfathers). Symbols that relate to important family events, accomplishments, and honorable family traits.

I included these symbols for my family which are a traditional Mexican Eagle, christian cross, Fleur de Lis, , Spanish Lion, and Castle.

My symbols touch my family's christian beliefs, Mexican heritage, Acadian, and Spanish roots.

Also, you should create a Motto or Statement that speaks for your particular family.

I hope this helps.

Ruben Guardiola

Hi my last name is Guardiola my father name is Osvaldo Guardiola and his father name was Pedro Guardiola. My father says that his grandparents came from a town called Parras Coahuila Mexico to Nava Coahuila. That is was two Guardiola brothers married to two sisters w/the last name of Contreas and from there we are a big family and any one that has my last name from that town is related to me. My great uncles fought in the Mexican revolution with the General Pancho Villa. I believe my family moved in the 1800's to Nava and we had several mayors in this town related to us, even now the mayor is my third cousin. We have had third cousins married each, but they do not have Guardiola as their first last name. I have cousins in IN, IL,CA, TX and DC and of course some still in Mexico. Oh more thing I have a sister name Gloria and an aunt.
Maria Guardiola

I'm yet another Guardiola looking for more information on my last name. I've tried searching online for more information, but really don't get anywhere, other than the Guardiola city in Spain. I don't know much at all about my grandparents as they passed away. The only thing I can add was that my dad, Jose Guadalupe Guardiola was born in Aug 1950 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and grew up in Matehuala, SLP, Mexico. My grandfather's name is Isidoro Guardiola. My parents have been in Houston for 35 years and I have 5 siblings all still residing in Houston, TX, North Side of town. Would like to get to know more of any Guardiola's out there and any/all information there is to know about Guardiola.

My grandfather, Pedro, was from there and his grandfather was Geronimo Guardiola, possibly from Moctezuma. I did research there and did not find his name. I just made contact with a distant cousin who also does genealogical research, and he says the family came from Spain to Mexico in the 1700's They wento to Aguascalientesa and then to Benado, San Luis Potosi.

My e-mail is gloria.guardiola@gmail.com.

Gloria Guardiola

Hi.

I've just wrote a blog post about your surname:
http://themonserratian.blogspot.com/2008/07/pep-guardiola.ht...
It all comes from a visit I did to the "Parque Nacional del Café" in Colombia and discovered a machine called "guardiola". So I decided to write about this name and other people with the same surname, like the current Barça's coach. I hope you'll find it interesting.
Regards from Barcelona, Juan Vicente Mañanas Abad.
