hmmm....I did find a record of a Gumecindo Rosas, from Jimenez, Chihuahua. It was a marriage register naming his wife and his parents. He was born about 1855 and was married in 1882 to a Marina Porras. The problem is that there is no way to determine if this was the man you are looking for, based on that record. Just for frame of reference this man's parents were Encarnacion Rosas and Nieves Morales. The bride's parents were Andres Porras and Longina Chaparro.

Stories have been told that it was a man named Gumecindo Rosas also from Chihuahua; but can't find anything on him. I have documented proof of children's DOB's but no father listed. Thanks for taking time to look.

I've noted that the birth you specified occurred in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico. So, I did a filtered search for all mothers with the name Gabriela Guerrero who lived in Chihuahua about the time of this birth/baptism. I then searched for any occurrance of the name Gabriela Guerrero who lived in Camargo. I came up with a series of names of children who were born within a few years of the child born in 1884. They were:

J. Wenseslao De Jesus Guerrero (baptized 16 Oct 1879)
Jose Manuel De Jesus Guerrero (baptized 15 Jan 1882)
Maria De La Cruz Pasada (baptized 28 May 1889)

In the case of the first two, the name of the father is not given in the baptismal register.

in the last record, the name of the father is the same as that of Jose Vicente Posada Guerrero, hence perhaps a sister.

Hello,

My name is Gloria Christine Guerero. I understand that my father, Gregorio Tiro Guerero came to the United States in the 1930s. My mother, told me that he had two brothers, Frank and Tony; and that one of them was a boxer. They lived in San Francisco and San Pedro, CA. My father married a lady from Texas and they had a daughter, Ruth. Then moved to Chicago, Ill. Following, he moved back to California.

I have a copy of my father's Social Security Card Application, dated Apri.?, 1939. He was employed by Coast Fishing Co., 1009 Fries Ave., Wilmington, CA. His parents were: Cipriano Guerero and Marcelo Tiro.

Thank you, Gloria

Hello,

I'm assuming that you have seen the 1920 US Census? There I found a record of a Cosme Guerrero (age 45) living with a son named Urbano Guerrero (age 10) in Limestone, Texas. According to the record, they emigrated from Mexico in 1911, making Urbano Guerrero, also born in Mexico. Therefore, it was sometime between 1910 and 1911 when his mother died.

I also found, according to the same record that they were neighbors to another Guerrero family, who also emigrated at the same time (1911).

These were:

Guerrero, Antonio (48)
"""""""", Matiana (49), wife
"""""""", ?Luisa (14), daughter
"""""""", Marcelino (11), son
"""""""", ?Juana (10), daughter
"""""""", Melia (4), daughter
"""""""", Perfeta (2), daughter

They may be related. Note that Antonio and Cosme's ages are only 3 years apart. Brothers? Possibly.

I also found a Texas death notice of a Cosme Guerrero who was born in 1874 and died on 30 Nov 1954 and buried on 1 Dec 1954, in Limestone, Texas.

Urbano or Cosme Guerrero

I'm looking for information on my grandfather Urbano Guerrero born 1910 in possibly Mexico or San Antonio area and his father Cosme born about 1875 in place unknown.

My grandfather was a quiet man and no one asked him hardly any questions. He died in 1992 when I was four, so I don't have much info heard from him. His wife Lavada died the same year.

Supposedly, his mother, whose name is unknown, died in a tragic laundry fire when Urbano was young. I heard my whole life he was born in the San Antonio area, but census records suggest Mexico. His birth record was filed in the 1930's, way after his actual birth, so I don't know if it's reliable.

Hardly anything is known of Cosme, besides the fact he died in Nov 1954.

These men have been a mystery my whole life and I would appreciate any information.

The Guerreros of Valparaiso (Malanoche, specifically) have relatives in Los Angeles, Baldwin Park, and Oxnard, California, and some in Tucson, Arizona.

For a little background, the Guerreros of Malanoche seemed to have had a connection with Adjuntas del Refugio, in Monte Escobedo municipality. In the 1930 Mexican census, of the 64 places which the Municipality of Valparaiso was divided, only three had Guerrero households, and the rancho of Malanoche seems to have been the oldest Guerrero settlement within the municipality. Hence, it seems that the Guerreros must have made their appearance there more recently, by perhaps 1840/50.
