I am NOT connected to this family at all: just looking through all Guertin (aka Yarter) posts and saw this.
All information is obtained from the Auburn newspapers.

1912 Personals mention:
Mrs. James Maloney left this morning for her home in Watertown after a 10 day visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Guertin of Seymour street.

February 29, 1916
Guertin—Quinn,
A quiet but pretty wedding took place at St. Aloysius's Church yesterday morning, when Mary Louise Guertin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Guertin, became the bride of
Frank Quinn of Romulus. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Francis M. They will be at home to their friends after April 1st at Romulus, N. Y.
Their many friends wish them a long and happy wedded life.

►MALONEY—Suddenly, in Baldwinsville. N Y., Wednesday morning;, June 14, 1916, James A.
Roberge/Guertin Connection?

Hello.

I just located my great x4 grandparent's (Ludger Roberge & Odile Adams) gravesite at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA. This after working my way up starting with my great grandparents. I was surprised to find the grave is owned by both my family the Roberge's, but it is also owned by a family by the name of Guertin (Frank Guertin/Ida Guertin)- there are 2 other Guertins.

Just wondering if these two families are related or not. The plot itself has 12 spots .

I also, by chance discovered my grandfather had a baby sister that died in 1932 - not named and most likely a still born. After having the cemetery research it, she is documented as being buried at this plot as well. This per their book index for 1932 deaths(it was written over the note "In Limbo") for Female Bennett, but not documented on the plot card. These would be her great grandparents (Roberge).

Any help with this connection would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

Karrie

Just spent a few minutes on ancestry.com: found a Maurice Guertin born 9 Oct 1744 married to Marie Marthe Goyet, but the reference is a family tree with no facts. They have no son named Michel, nor a father named Augustin. If you search by Augustin or Michel you get a lot of hits. My suggestion is you put some dates around these three ancestors (i.e. born about ?, married about ?, died about ?). Start with what you know, then dive into ancestry.com or if you're not a member and you believe all three were Canadian go to Library and Archives Canada:
"Genealogy and Family History - Library and Archives Canada: www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/index-e.html - Cached". Its free and has just about everything ancestry has. If they're in the U.S. you can get some census info on-line free, but again ancestry may be your quickest way to get what your looking for. If I can be of any other help let me know. Best Regards, Gary
I'm looking for information on the Canadian side of my family. The earliest names I have is Augustin Guertin and Josephete Tetreau. Their son Maurice married Marie Marthe Goyet, and their son Mitchel married Adelphine Lanoult. I have the names of some children of Mitchel's but that's pretty much it.

I've hit a block with this part of my family because there all from Canada and I've only found a few census with those names. I haven't been able to find any birth or death records either in the US or Canada.

If anyone can help out, that would be great, or share with me some advice on searching for Canadian records, I've tried looking on the site here.

I am researching my grandmother, Edith Guertin Aubin (wife of William Aubin). I believe her parents were Joseph and Eugenia Guertin. I believe Edith may have been a twin. I am guessing that her birth year was around 1890 - 1895. She had at least one brother, Henry. She may have had sisters named Rose or May.

Edith Guertin Aubin died in about 1949 in Auburn, NY. She and her family had lived in Auburn NY since at least 1910. I believe her family was from Canada, possibly the Quebec area, or the Hudson Bay area.

Any information on her, her siblings, or her parents would be very welcome.

I've been looking for info on Victor E Guertin, b Oct 10, 1867 in St Hyacinthe, PQ to Jean J Guertin & wife, Euphemie Guelle/Guiel. They married Oct 14, 1850. Victor remained a batchelor and was a barbor in Providence in the 1890s, in Pawtucket, RI in the early 1900s and in Attleboro after 1925. However, there was another Victor E Guertin in Pawtucket who married and had many children, one son was also named Victor E. and he-the father may have been a barbor. I believed Victor died sometime after his sister, Eliza died in 1936. He had a cottage at Oakland beach in Warwick, RI. He remains a mystery man.

The time frame seems correct for this to have been the same person. I have not been able to locate any records after the 1910 Census that show Leona and am wondering what may have happened to her.

Yetto-Guertin Family of Troy, NY

Hi there,

Well, as you know that this Yetto family as long before Pierre Yetto (possible of the father of Samuel Yetto) came in the U.S. His step-uncle was Jean Baptiste Guertin who came first from Canada and move in Essex County, NY(because one of his child who born in Essex County from NYS Census 1875) in 1838-1845? in short while then they move again to Troy, NY (it appeared in US Census 1850 in Troy, NY). His step-brother Francois Guertin(Yetto) came around 1865-1870 in Troy, NY (He appeared in US Census 1870 along with his wife and 4 children with them in the same unit along with Pierre (Peter) Guertin (Yetto). This information that I got from Beth Guertin (I want to thank you and graceful Beth Guertin, who able help us her research for our family history) from VA. I don't know about horse thief story to escape to America. Maybe Francois who was a horse thief or someone else in our family. We have to find the Guertin family criminal record in Quebec's archieves, then we will find who was criminal as horse thief or not. We are still working on this family in past year now as Oct 2000. If you have questions about this, please let me know about it.

Guertin-Charbonneau Questions

Hi Philippe,

Iam not sure if Adolphe was the middle name of Pierre Guertin. He lived in the Troy, New York area. His wife's name could have been spelled wrong. They showed up in
the 1870 U.S. Census in Troy, New York. It showed that they changed their last names from Guertin to Yetto for some reason. Peter(Pierre) Yetto(Guertin) was 25 years old and a carpenter and Philomene Yetto was 20 years old. In my great grandmother Rosanna's marriage certificate in 1896, it stated her name was Rosanna Guertin born in Troy, New York. She was 22 years old. Her parents were Pierre Guertin and Philomene Charbonneau.

In Rosanna's death certificate in 1913, it's similar, but the parents' names are slightly different....Peter Yetto and Philoneze Charbonneau.

P.J. Trudeau is my distant cousin's wife, and we have been corresponding about the Guertin-Yetto-Beaudoin families for over a year. We have been trying to fit in the Guertin-Yetto puzzle together.

Please e mail directly to me by this address.
william.mooney@verizon.net

Bill Mooney

Hi William,Peter Yettaw (Pierre Guertin) was my gg grandfather. He was married to Sophie Brickey (Vivier). My g grandfather was his son David Joseph Yettaw b. 3/28/1859 in Ellenburg, NY died 4/1/1925 in Keene, NH. David married Clara Barcomb (Berthiaume). My grandfather, David J. Yettaw,Jr. was born in Troy, NY and married Margaret Hevey of Keene, NH. My mother was Eleanor Marie Yettaw b. 12/31/1915 in Keene,NH who married Robert L. Story. I live in MA.I would be very interested in any info you might have and would share mine. The horse thief theory is very intersting and may fit in with stories my Mom told me. The name change was definitely for shady reasons in any case I think!!! Please contact me at mafoisy@earthlink.net

Dominic Guertin and Marie Anne Lefebvre info

I'm searching for information about Dominic Guertin born Jan. 4, 1811 (probably in Quebec) and/or Marie Anne Lefebvre who married on August 24, 1830 in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec. Any info would be greatly appreciated. FInding these parents on a death registration has been a real breakthrough for us but now we need to try to verify that we have the right Dominic and Mary Ann listed as parents of Olive Guertin in Jerico VT on 14 Dec 1844. Any information about other children also would be helpful.

My ancestor, Marie Anne Caron married Jean Guertin on Jan 21, 1828 at St Antoine sur Richelieu, Chambly, PQ.
Marie Catherine Caron married Jean Baptist Guertin on Sept 9, 1811 at St Antoine sur Richelieu, PQ.
My question is. Was she Marie Anne Catherine Caron or Marie Catherine Caron?
I believe the two Jeans were cousins. Thanks!
