There is a Thomas Gugliuzza in my family and his son Anthony used the name Willis. They are from Baltimore.Thomas had 2 sisters, Rosa my grandmother married Frank Cincotta and Domenica married Mariano Graziano.
Any connection ???

I'm Dave Johnson and I'm researching the Gugliuzza family for a good friend Sandy. Gugluizza.
Sandy lived on the SW side of Chicago, near Midway & went to Kelly HS.
She lived about a block from me & we all hung out together in our teens.
I ran across Sandy in Tulsa when I relocated to SE KS.
Her father was Luigi and immigraated to PA in 1906 and then moved points West. I can't find much about him, at all. But then genealogy is always a challange.

Sandy is not a menber of Ancestry. If you feel it would be beneficial to connect let me know email and I can pass it on to her.

I am writing to you because I am a decendant of this family. My dad is John Ulett which is the son of John Gugliuzza that changed the name with your grandfather Steve. I am John Ulett's daughter Margaret. I am writing to find out any other info. you might have on the family. We are planning a trip over to Italy this year and would like to visit Alia where the family was originally from, but would like to have as much info. as possible before we go. MY great-great grandfather was Stephano Gugliuzza born 1850 Alia. My great great grandmother died in childbirth 1875, My great grandfather Salvatora Gugluizza born in Alia of Palermo, Italy 1872 emigrated New Orleans 1897-- Brothers were Dominque, Anthony and sister Mary Grace. My grandfather Steve,born 1899 Monroe County LA moved to Clearfield PA 1915 then moved to St. Louis, MO where he changed the name to sound French in order to get construction jobs to -- Ulett. His siblings were John, Tony, Congetta,Josephine, Angelo, Grace, Joseph.They all changed their name to Ulett as well upon following my grandfather to St. Louis--except Grace who married and moved to CA. Any connections to these???

Sorry it's been so long. The storm threw me off a bit.
How did we do on your family history. I believe I may have picked up some additional information. Have we exchanged any info? If not e-mail me back.
Have you been able to contact Melissa? If I have this figured out correctly, she is Felix's daughter. I've read some of what he has given out to the local newspapers down here in New Orleans.
Anyway, don't know where you call home but if it's anywhere down here, hope you did O.K.

I did find where Louise Loicano and Joseph T. Gugliuzza had four children 1) Joseph T. Gugliuzza Jr., 2) William R. Gugliuzza, and the late 3) Marie G. Leonard and 4) Phillip M. Gugliuzza.

Have either of you been able to add to your ancestery.
I have Martin Henry Loicano (b. about 1872/73 in Italy) I'm guessing Contessa Entelina, Sicily. Several other siblings were born there. (d. Feb. 13, 1936 in Hammond). He married Mary Dearing (b. May 11, 1885, d. Sept. 13, 1972).
Martin's parents were from Contessa Entellina. They were Antonio Loicano (acct. spelled LoIacono) (b. April 12, 1825, d. Sept. 1888). He married Dominica Louise Schiro (b. May 5, 1842, d. unknown) on Oct. 7, 1860 in Contessa Entellina. Antonio's parents were Nicolo LoIacono and Caterina Del Buffa (Buffo). Dominica's parents were Giuseppe Schiro and Giuseppa Rosalia Plescia. All from Contessa Entellina, Sicily.
Hope this helps in some way.
P.S. I have more on this line. One of my great-uncles married one of Martin's sisters. Let me know if you would like to share.

Who are your grandparents? Are you related to a Joseph T. Gugliuzza Sr. who married Louise Alice Loicano? They were married in Baton Rouge in early 30s, but Louise died 23-Jan-1993 in New Orleans. Feel free to contact me privately if you wish.

We are looking for information on Salvatore Gugliuzza, born we believe, in Isnello, Italy on Sept 13, 1892. We are unsure of his parents name, but his Mother died when he was young and his Father remarried. He had 2 brothers, Anthony and John. The brothers came to America first, and Salvatore followed. When he first arrived at Ellis Island, (?year), he was sent back to Italy--he cried so much they thought he had pink eye. He returned again and was admitted. It is thought that at first he settled in NYC or New Jersy, later came to Buffalo, NY where he married Frances Runfola. They had one son, Joseph Nicholas who still resides in the Buffalo area. Salvatore worked as a concrete finisher and general foreman for Kemp Construction Company. We are interested in any more information about Salvatore--ie. when he came to the US, more information about his early days here, other family history

My original family name is Gugliuzza, but was changed years ago to Galusha. There is a number of us int the Rochester N.Y. area. My Grandfather, Frank, was also fron Sicily. I'm not exactly sure of the town, but I believe it to be Caltigerone( a guess on the spelling). It would be interesting to see if we are related. I never heard mention of any family in Lousiana.

The Gugliuzza's I'm tracing are originally from New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas, I have no idea where they came from before that, but I have it that at least one came from Sicily.
