My great grandparents were Benito Guillermo (Chinese immigrant who adopted the Catholic priest's name from what I understand) and Benedicta Dagta Guillermo (Filipina). I was hoping to find out our Chinese last name which got changed to Guillermo. My grandfather Leon Dagta Guillermo (one of the sons of Benito and Benedicta) was born in 1912 and most of the Guillermo's now reside in Legazpi, Albay, Philippines, nowadays. If anyone knows of a link to the Guillermo family, please send me an email to mhybork@gmail.com. Thank you.

Same here. Great grandpa died a long time ago. Great grandma died last year, we got the bit of intel from her. I had the priviledge of meeting some pretty old Guillermo, such as one of my fathers uncle Frank Guillermo, he was 110. Died around 1999 if not mistaken. But if you go to San Jose de las Matas a campo in Santiago you will find a lot of Guillermo. Just mentioning the lastname will get you plenty of info.

No problem. If I find any more info i will post it. I cannot get facebook due to occupation restrictions not a personal choice. If you find any more information from your grandfather it will also be helpful to know because it helps me know more of my origins. I am located in NYC and there are quite a few of us up here. I have met a few with our last name who I did not know and been able to trace them back through their parents and grandparents to the guillermo family from the cibao region.

Cesareo was my fathers grandfathers grandpa, if you can put that together. Candido Guillermo who was my fathers grandpa. Jacinto Guillermo was Candidos grandfather. And yes Cesareo was a caudillo for a very short period of time as i am told.
Do you have any faster way of communication such as AIM, aol instant messenger, etc.

Guillermo who resides in SD, DR. We have communicated a little bit over my paternal grandfather Federico's membership in a fraternal organization in DR (Odd Fellows).

Hi, my name is nelia perez guillermo. Im from dominican republic and a guillermo from my mom's side. While i dont know exact years, my grandfather has told me that there is only one guillermo family in the dominican rep., he says that there were 2 brothers that came to DR from spain, they both settled in the cibao region, specifically the city of santiago and san francisco de macoris. I am from san francisco de macoris, and all guillermo's in my town can be easily traced back to my granpa or one of his brothers. What i found most interesting about your post is that u mention a man named cesario, we also have a "cesareo" in my family, he was my grandfather's grandfather, he was also a dominican "caudillo" (they used to be kinda like presidents before the term 'president' was being used in the island) around 1879, he is briefly mentioned in dominican history. i know that the guillermo's from santiago are distant cousins, but i dont know much about them besides that; However, my grandpa is still alive so i have a chance at asking him more about the family. My family used to be very powerful in my town when my mom was a child, they used to own a lot of land, and they didnt migrate much so i really dont know if we had other ancesters in the USA. hopefully this can help you, who knows! maybe we are distant cousins too.
My grandfather's name is tomas antonio guillermo.

My name is Felix Guillermo, and i asked my father, and indeed he says there was some uncle named cesario guillermo, who was very close to becoming president of the dominican republic. Also had another relative named Pedro but he really does not kow much about them. They are all dead.
Looking for information on surname Guillermo from Puerto Rico, Dom. Rep.

Hello, I'm looking for information on Guillermos from Puerto Rico, Dom. Rep., Spain, Mideast, and Arab states.
My paternal grandparents were born in PR: Federico Guillermo married Isabella Vasquez in the teens or 1920's. They had 2 natural born sons, Benvenito and Pedro Cesario, one adopted, Rafael. Federico and Isabella were in Dom. Rep. in the 1920s for some time, moved back to PR and then moved to Bronx, NY in 1940s.
Any help you can offer, thanks.
My maternal great-grands: Maldonado - Vargas, Morales - Torres.

Guillermo

Keoni,
The Guillermo surname appears in my family tree. My grandfather was from the PI, his full name was Louis Guillermo Vicente. Children born to Filipino couples usually were given their mother's maiden name as the child's middle name. This makes my greatgrandother a Guillermo. I believe her first name was Saturnina. Contact me if you have any connections at madkat143@aol.com
Michelle Vicente-Korte'
