Hi Julie, I too am researching Henry Charles Banwell of Gundagai. He was my Great Grandmother's uncle, born in Gloucestershire. I have a deal of information on his earlier life and am trying to confirm whether he was a sailor as family stories have it. I see he married the daughter of a ship's carpenter, Catherine Ryder. I have been in touch with a Jenny, a local genealogist in the Gundagai area who gave me that information about the Bushman's Daughter Goldmine and details of Henry's death.

Gundagai, Banwell and Gold

I am searching for any information on the Banwell family that lived at Jones Creek, Gundagai and in particular any information on the Bushman's Daughter Gold reef that was discovered by Charles Henry Banwell. The family lived in the area from 1859 till about 1880.

Elizabeth Edwards who married William Edwards
in South Gundagai on 24/10/1868. Williams father was Charles Edwards. Elizabeth's father was William Edwards.
Elizabeth's husband, William died in 1883 and Elizabeth then married a Crane/Crain?
