Eugenio Gutierrez

The original grantee of the Los Ojuelos was Eugenio Gutierrez and he later granted a portion of the land to his son, Isidro. Eugenio's daughter Maria Petra Gutierrez married Ignacio Guerra. Ignacio and Petra's sons were Dionicio, Juan, and Jose Maria. It is these Guerra brothers who are credited with founding Los Ojuelos. Eugenio had to leave the land due to the Indians who raided the farm and livestock. 25 years later, Isidro returned but he also was "ran off" by the Indians. 40 years after that, Eugenio's grandsons, the Guerra brothers (Jose Maria, et al.), returned to the land and constructed a wall and built a church on the peoperty, thus having "improved the peoperty". Hence, the credit of founding Los Ojuelos. You may find this information in the Handbook of Texas online. I am a descendant of Eugenio de Cuevas y Gutierrez, original grantee of the Los Ojuelos grant. My descendancy is through his son Isidro.

I'm trying to find my husband's father and although I seem to have at least enough information to find SOMETHING, I haven't found anything! I don't know if I don't know how to do it or what. My mother-in-law gave me all of the information that she could remember about him.

His name is Ricardo Gutierrez born circa 1951. Birth place is unknown but he did live in Santa Ana, California in the 1970s. He was in the army and stationed in Panama City, Panama from approx 1971-1973. While he was stationed in Panama City, Panama, he lived in the Howard Kobe Engineering baracks. It is believed that he had already had one child before being stationed in Panama and may have been married.

How do I best search for this man? My husband really needs to meet him or find out if he has died.

Roco Family in the Philippines

Dear Pablo,

After almost 25 years of research, I finally found someone who has the Rocos of Alcantara in Spain in their family tree.

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Facundo Roco y Sagarbarria. I come from the Philippines where the Roco Family started in 1791. Over time, our family has grown and my own tree which you can view at http://rocofamily.info/ contains over 2000 names, including in laws of course.

My haplogroup is R1a1a. If you are descended from Bernal Roco, then we must be related.

I hope we can meet someday. Do email me at fsroco@yahoo.com. Or through this thread.

A little about myself, I turn 61 next week. I am the sixth of a family of 10, the youngest of the boys. My mother who is still around at 95 is third generation Basque but we never learned the language. We are Filipinos.

Do tell me about your family. I am so excited.

Best regards.

Facundo

Jose Gutierrez, his son, was born around 1878 in New Mexico but sometime after moved to Colorado. I have them in Colorado as early as the 1910s census. In the 1920s census, Manuel was living with Jose so I am able to without a doubt verify the fathers name.

In the 1910's census, Andrella is listed as Andrellita. In the 1920's census as Andrella. She was born about 1886.

Manuel is listed as a widow living on his own in the 1910s census... No record of a wife's name.

What I'm looking for here is if anyone has any assistant that they can provide on either Andrella's maiden name (or parents would be even better) or Manuel Gutierrez's wife/mother of Jose Gutierrez.

The origins of these should be New Mexico, but in the later census's they were living in Fremont County, Colorado.

Thanks if anyone has any assistance that they can provide here.

Obituary: George Soto Gutierrez

George Soto Gutierrez, 87, a Deming resident, passed away Friday, October 8, 2010 at Deming Mimbres Hospital. As per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Mimbres Crematory and no services are planned.
George was born February 16, 1923 in Hurley, New Mexico to Jorge and Guadalupe Gutierrez. He joined the United States Army in August of 1942. He served his country proudly in World War II. He received the Asian Pacific Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal, and an American Campaign Medal.
He worked and retired from the City of Deming as a Sanitation Engineer; he was one of the guys that hung on to the back of the garbage truck and woke you up by clanking trash cans at 6 in the morning.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Consuelo Chavez Gutierrez; 3 sons, Fernando, Richard and Carlos; daughter-in-law, Lori Gutierrez; 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; and his sister Lupe Marino of Los Angeles, California.
A lifelong musician, George loved to play the guitar, bass, drums, piano with various musical groups as well as just sitting at home and recording his music. George also loved a variety of television programs, movies and comedians. He also had the wonderful ability to tell a joke and was able to sneeze at an incredibly high volume.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and grandson, Carlos (Chuck) Gutierrez/Licon.
You check out Guitar George, he knows all the chords,
But it's strictly rhythm, he doesn't want to make it cry or sing
Yes then an old guitar is all he can afford
When he gets up under the lights to play his thing.
We love you "Pop"!
Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.
Gabino Gutierrez

Hola,

Me llamo Norma West.

http://www.genealogiafamiliar.net/getperson.php?personID=I44...

I wrote my question when my husband had just 12 markers analyzed. The question was based on comparison with one Gutierrez, Ysearch ID "74XHE", Christobal Gutierrez. He has just 9 markers, 8 were compared, distance of 0. His haplogrouop is N*. Now my husband has got the full 67. And he seems to belong to the Rurikid group. - Who knows, Gutierrez "74XHE" might have something to do with Vikings/Varjagians going to Iberia, long ago. But as long as "74XHE" has just 9 markers, quite impossible to know.
