This doesn't fit my Josephine Guyot either. In fact, an update is in order. I have traced my Josephine back a bit. She was born Josephine Dupuis in 1878 Toledo, Ohio. She married first to a Tony or Anthony Calson or Calsen. She is later found as Josephine Balzano marrying Fred Guyot in 1916! I still haven't found when or how she acquired the surname Balzano but wanted to at least clear up and leave my most accurate information here.

I have an Ida Jobin Guyot in my father-in-law's family. According to family stories, she was born in Canada, but I'd believe France is more likely. She married Alfred Guyot (also born in France). They moved to St. Louis before 1891 when their daughter Corrine was born. I also have Elizabeth, Joseph, Adeline and Albert as children of Alfred and Ida.
I know little else about the family. It is possible that Alfred's parents were Nikloas Guyot and Aurelia L'Amour (not sure of the spelling. Does this help you? I will also send you an email with the same information.

Hello-
Sorry it's been so long since your last post. I hope you've found the connection you were looking for. I'm not sure this is the same Guyot family, but I am researching my father-in-law's family which contains a Guyot branch.
I have an Alfred Guyot in this line, who was born in Paris, France, according to family stories. He married Ida Jobin from Canada and at some point emigrated to St. Louis where their daughter Corrine was born in 1891.
I have the following siblings listed for Corrine: Elizabeth, Joseph, Adeline and Albert. There may be others, but I haven't found them yet.
I have no siblings listed for Alfred, but his parents may have been a Nikolas Guyot and Auriela L'Amour (spelling?).
I, too am having a hard time tracing this family for some reason. Family information is scarce. If this helps, please let me know.

(marriage, children, grandchildren, dob, marriage dates, etc.) who emigrated via Port of Bremen to Philadelphia. I am looking for Adam's parents. I have hit a wall and cannot find any further information. Adam Guyot son Phillip Guyot, was my grandfathers great grandfather. We know they came from France, but nothing further. I am also looking for the any connection to Admiral Guyot who came over to England in the Normandy times of 1066. When the Guyot name was changed to Wiot, Wyat, and Wyatt when it was anglicised when they came to Virginia.

Hi leslie, I have found my Guyots in St. Louis city while I was in Salt Lake City just a few weeks ago. I was able to find my back Louis Guyot back to 1857. I had an "angel" that helped me get over the brick wall I have been tyring to break through for 5 years. The LDS Church has so much information that is available if you know what to look for.The only Josephine I found was born 17 July 1851 and died 16 May 1916. Cause of death for arteriosclrosis which is very prominent in my Guyot husband's line.

I have found many Guyot's in Perry County, MO but not so many in St. Louis. I want to believe that there is a connection with the St. Louis Guyots. If we just keep searching, maybe something will turn up.

I'm doing research on Guyot right now. Do you know anything about Louis Guyot and Mary Rouff who are the parents of Harry Guyot. My Leo was the informant on the death certificate for Harry Guyot on 24 Apr 1944 in St. Louis, MO and burial is at Memorial Park Cemetery. Is there a connection here? As for your Josephine the only one I have was born 17 Jul 1851 and her trade was a Laundress and died 16 May 1916. I know nothing about Valentine at this time. I hope this helps because we might have an inkling about the Guyots we didn't have.
Gloria Fisher

Gloria,

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I am looking specifically for a Josephine Guyot. She was born (according to her death certificate) in St. Louis in 1878. Her father is listed as Valentine Guyot, born in France, and her mother is an "unknown Appel" born in an unknown location. She died in 1940, and her son was the informant. She married a Dunsford. Our two people are certainly the right ages to be siblings, and they both ended up in St. Louis. Have you ever come across the Appel name or the name Valentine? I have found a Valentine Appel in St. Louis and I was starting to wonder if the son got his grandparents last names mixed up. This Guyot thing has been a big mystery to me for a long time!

I am looking for the parents of Leo Edward Guyot Sr. who was born in IL and lived after his marriage to Elizabeth in St. Louis, St. Louis, MO. I know his parents were born in France and I think that they came through Ellis Island around the 1850s. At the Ellis Island site they were listed as Monsieur and Madame Guyot. Leo Edward was born in 15 Nov 1880 and died July 1959. I was wondering if Leo Sr. had any siblings in the MO & IL. I don't know if this is any help but if you have any information that would aid me in my search I would greatly appreciate it.
Gloria Fisher

I have Leo Edward Guyot Sr. that lived and died in St. Louis. His parents were from France. Leo Edward Guyot Sr. was born in IL in 1880. I know his family eventually moved to St. Louis. His wife's name was Elizabeth McElory. They had 4 children: Helen, Thomas, Leo Edward Jr. and Arthur. I am trying to find Sr.'s parents but I have no idea who they were. Many of the Guyot's came up the Mississippi River from France and many settled in Perryville, Perry Co., MO. I was hoping to find some relatives that know something of this family.

I am also looking for a Guyot family in St. Louis. The daughter's name was "Josephine" and born around 1879. Her father came from France prior to her birth and his marriage. I have heard his name was Joseph, though I'm not sure. That would put him as arriving in St. Louis about the same time as your family. This is all I know so far. Do you think there is a connection?

Regret I have no new "old" info on my Guyot ancestor.
I can confirm my BAZILLE GUYOT
1)came to US in 1816, and settled at Long Falls, NY stating he was born in Troyes, France 12 Nov 1785.
2)In 1820 he married MARY (MARIETTE) FRANCES LeROUX/or/LaRUE at Long Falls, NY. They had children Adele, Minor, Bazille Jr., Joseph Victor, Harriet, Bazille 2nd, Sophia, Louisa, Josephine and Frederick.
3)in 1823, as a non-citizen, he was granted the right to purchase property in NY.
4)on 5 Sept 1826 he was naturalized as American citizen in Watertown, NY. I possess photocopy of his paperwork which does not give names of his parents.
5)He died at Carthage NY (once Long Falls) 15 May 1865 & is buried there next to wife Mary/Mariette, and children Josephine age 2, Bazille Jr. infant, 2nd Bazille aged 21.
I have visited their graves.

I possess his brief obit and obits for nearly all of his children, but not one mentions names of his parents and/or siblings. A local history book stated he spent some time in Paris before coming to NY - that is an avenue I've not yet pursued.

I need to spend some time at our local genealogical library. Philby's passenger lists contain Bazille's coming to US in 1816 and I need to confirm the name of the ship he came on.

With more than 40 years of researching, I have never found any links to Guyots arriving in LA or other states, so far.

Bazille and Mary's daughter HARRIETT GUYOT (born 12 March 1828 at Carthage )is my great-great-great-grandmother, who married SETH FRENCH, M.D. 10 Dec 1850 at Carthage.

My husband's illness and death curtailed my interest/ambition for some time, but I am trying to slowly begin again.

Plese stay in touch if you do find any links. Thanks. Helen.
