I have traced my fathers family McGullam to John Gullam, who emigated from Pembrokeshire 1870 est. and ended uo in the 1900 census in Brooklyn NY. He was born August 1852/53. I believe his father Richard Gullam was actually born Richard Gwilliam. My email is mocsi@netscape.net

Hi Mary
I have a site called the Gwilliam Surname, where I have been collating all manner of different ways of spelling the "Gwilliam" surname. I am in the process of transfering these details to Rootsweb. Up until now I haven't come accross a Richard "Gwilliam" in Pembrokeshire. Thats not to say that he wasn't there! Just that I haven't come accross him yet! The only ones I have are from Herbransdon -
Year 1822 - Date 31-Dec
Groom Firstname William
Groom Surname SAIES
Groom Notes Widower, Stainton
Bride Firstname Martha
Bride Surname Gwilliam
Bride Notes
Marriage Parish Herbrandston

They have Emily b abt 1833, and Charlotte b 1835 and possibly Alfred b 1826
died 1902 ( a carpenter)
It appears Martha is a publican in the 1841 Census aged 40 and is living in
Steynton. The girls are still alive in 1881
(ref: 1c)

Hi

I think I may have found your John Gwilliam and his father Richard in the 1861 Census. I am researching the family myself from Pembrokeshire. There are quite a few in the St Ishmaels area of Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire. Your John, if the right one, is in my line as well. His father was Richard Gwilliam (born abt 1824) and John's mother is Mary (maiden name Morse), born abt 1823. Email me if any of this rings a bell.

John Gullam was my great grandfather. The name is now McGullam in the US. Richard Gullam ( Gwilliam ) appears to be his father. I haven't come across an Arthur although I had an uncle Arthur McGullam and my fathers family seemed to stick with family names. I have collected quite a bit of info on the Gullam. Richards parents may be Phoebe Williams and John Gwilliam. I lose track of them after the births of their children.

Hello Mary,
I tried to e.mail you last week but it was returned address invalid. But iv'e found you here.
I am researching my sister in law's tree. Her grandmother was Catherine Matilda Childs born 1894 Monkton ,Pembroke. South Wales. Catherine's parents were John Childs born cc 1868 Milford Haven and Mary Jane Gullam-Gwilliam. born 1864 St Ishmaels. Mary's father was James Gwilliam born 1856 St Ishmaels ,brother of your John I believe. James's father was Richard Gwilliam born 1823 St Ishmaels.
I was hoping you may have information on John Childs .
Best wishes Karen.

2 of my Keating Cousins are buried in the McGullam Family Plot in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. Their mother's name was {Catherine} Ethel Gray & I believe her parents were Catherine Ethel McGullam & Charles Gray. I have a photp of the family headstone which was refaced to include the multitude of names.

Hi Joan. I tried to answer this earlier but it seems it didn't go through. If it shows up later just disregard this. I was at Holy Family Cemetary last week and for the first time I saw the headstone. My grandfather is John and bridgets son James. He is also buried there. I just started to do some research on the names, including your cousins. I am excited to hear from you and would be grateful for any information you would like to share. My email is mocsi@si.rr.com I'm rerally curious about how you came to know this info. I did take pictures of the headstone and was quite impressed by it. Do you know who had it refaced and if the spouses are also buried there. I was under the impression that my grandparents were buried together, but the only names that are there seem to be direct descendants. I look forward to hearing from you.

Just read your message. Mary Jane Childs was my Great Grandmother. I lived with her from 1939 soon after her husband John Childs died. If you read this please e-mail me on s.fuge3@ntlworld.com.
