Hi I live in St. Louis,Mo. My mom is Rose Sigears and her dad was Maurice Preston Hail who passed away last May. My great grandfather was Alfred Cleo Hail his father was John Preston Hail his father was George w (Wilson)? Hail. All of my aunts and uncles live in Tulsa. I am trying to obtain the most info so I can share it with the other family members. I actually have alot but you may have some more. Thank you!!! Cassie

This is probably information you already know, but I'll pass it along. The MCR on that number for Elijah P. Hail stands for Mississippi Choctaw Rejected.
I have a copy of Elijah P Hail's application. In it, Permelia Taylor, wife to William D. D. Hail and mother to Elijah P. Hail, states by affidavit that William D. D,'s parents were William Hail and Nancy Medlin.

I never knew my Grandfather, in fact neither did my Father know his father. All I ever heard was he had a Mechanic shop, no details...a dead end. I am sure he is deceased by now. I have given up looking.

My gggrandfather was L. Theodore Hale, older brother of Thomas Coger Hail. I have limited info on the family, including an affidavit noting the wife of D. D. Hail as Nancy Medlin. Glad to share/compare info.

That would probably make your husband and me, fourth cousins. If you're refering to a William D. Hale, b. 1845, his brother is my gggrandfather. William D.D. Hale was married to Permelia Taylor. I have data on her parents and siblings. Also, have affidavit info from another brother,Elijah Hale's application for membership into the Choctaw nation.He was denied membership but the application identifies his parents as Wiliam D. D. Hale and Permelia Taylor. I live in Okla. Glad to share info. You might want to use e-mail addy.

I am searching for information on the parents and birthplace of William W. HAIL/HALE, who married 2nd Nancy W. BASS removed from NC to Montgomery Co, TN Marshall Co, MS. Nancy W. BASS was b Halifax Co, NC 1800. William W. HAIL, b NC 1789. He migrated with an Andrew W. HAIL, b 1781-1788, who was probably a brother. The families probably moved to MS in 1838 William W. HAIL/HALE died there in 1873. Known Issue: Susan D (m William JOHNSON), Maclin B (m Susan T), George (m Henrie SCRUGGS), James T (m Eliza LEONARD Virginia), John L (m Mattie), Rebecca (m John NESBETT). Known issue with 1st wife: Mary J (m William K HINTON).

Another Hale group resided in Bertie County, NC at least from 1700s. A number of them moved to Halifax County. The history of Halifax County lists two Hale brothers who were given land grants near present day Scotland Neck.

I would be interested to know if the William to which you refer may have been the one located in McMinn County Tennessee who filed a Revolutionary War Pension application in about 1832.

I have information on the Hail family, I believe to be

was my husband's great grandfather born in Tenn. 5-20-1844,
married to a Martha A Booth and came to Oklahoma and he
died 12-7-1909. Sallie Becknell was possible his mother.
George was Cherokee also and his listed on the Siler Rolls
of 1851. I would love to hear from anyone.

Maybe Donnie can help you find some answers on your Reuben or at least allow you to be able to close the book on Rueben Hale for once and for all.

Reuben Hail 1802-1873

Reuben Hail was born 1802 in Tennessee. He appeared in the 1830 census of Smith Co, TN. A few years later he moved to Sparta, Christian CO., MO. Some of his descendants still live in this area. Reuben later moved (with some of his children) to California where he died in 1873. I have the names a some info on about 200 of his descendants. I would really like to find out who his parents were. I have a William Hale, born in TN, but my Grandmother related she thought his family was just over here and may have been "soldiers". I know nothing more of this branch except for his children. Wife was supposed to be Martha Hawks and his mother was supposed to be an indian (Cherokee) I presume. Any chance of a connection? He lived in AL for a time and party of the family is still there near Huntsville.

I have information that takes my family back to Virginia in the 1600's. However, I'm going to start out with more recent information and begin in Pulaski County,Kentucky where my gr-gr-grandfather John M. Hail Married Charity Heath on October 24th, 1831.

John and Charity would have at least ten children : William, Isaac, Permelia, Stephen, Elizabeth, Minerva, Austin, James, George and John. My great-grandfather was their son George. George "Berry" Hail was born on February 29th, 1852.

George would marry Martha J. Payne in Rockcastle County,Kentucky in 1877. They would have two daughters, Myrta born in 1878 and Lula born in 1879. * I never found out whatever became of George's wife Martha or their daughter Lula. But I did find out where daughter Myrta would marry Samuel Black in Laurel County in 1900.

I also know that George got remarried. George would marry Lula Mae Rutledge in Laurel County,Kentucky in 1884. They would have four children : Harry born in 1885, Wade born in 1888, Twins - Lillie and Dennis in 1896. Dennis / Denny was my grandfather.

Some time after 1900, George and his family would move to Bell County,Kentucky . George "Berry" Hail would die in Bell County in 1917. * I don't know what became of George's second wife Lula. The last place I have her documented is on the 1920 Harlan County, Kentucky census.

Denny would marry Anna Mae Johnson in Claiborne County,Tennessee in 1921. However they would be / were living in Bell County,Kentucky when my Dad was born in 1923.

For whatever reasons, George's sons and his grandsons would take up the spelling of their name as H A L E. But I have George's signature on various documents and he and his father always spelled their name as H A I L - Not Hale. But anyway, that's why my name is spelled Hale today.

If you are in some way a descendant of John Hail and Charity Heath and have information to share, I would love to hear from you.
