Re: Eleanor Haynes or Haines (1724-64) Conn/Vermont

Since my post, I have concluded that Jonathan Haines father was Charles Haines born in 1642 in New London, CT and that he married Mary and died in 1685. If anyone can confirm, refute or elaborate on this, your help would be welcomed.

I believe that Sarah Rogers' parents were James Rogers (15 Feb 1652, Milford CT to 8 Nov. 1713, New London, CT) and Mary Jordan (27 May 1632, Ireland to 7 Feb 1713, New London, CT),

I am a descendant of Eleanor Haines and I have backtracked my tree to her using records from my family and ancestry.com. I also used the Mormon website Familysearch.org. That's what I would recommend, but thank you for the info, now I have her parents names.

Thanks!
Matt

It has been many years since you posted your query, so you have likely already found the answer to your question. Forrest Calvin Haines was born 9 Jul 1897 in Decatur, Macon County, Illinois, son of William J. Haines who was born about 1871 in Bristol, Sussex, England and Alice Heiner, born about 1877 in Illinois. They were married 9 Nov 1894 in Macon County, Illinois.

Does anyone have any information on the death dates and places for Forrest and Grace?

I will post all the following info this time but I usually just post all my spellings under HINDS message board so please look there.

HAYNES, HAINES, HINDS, HINES--MARRIAGES listed in VIRGINIA -

usgwarchives.org/marriages.
I served directly under Capt. Haines in the Navy at NAB Coronado when he commanded Tactical Air Control Group One (1984). I was assigned as his personal driver/assistant. Commodore Haines seriously changed my life as a young 17 year old and have never forgot him. If for some reason you cannot locate his family, I would be honored to buy the POW bracelet from you.

There is absolutely NO substance to this rumor.

You can easily find the Rothchilds actual genealogy, instead of following false "family stories".

This is NOT rude, it is reality. I also tried to follow "family stories" that turned out to be completely false, in my early days of genealogy.

You can waste your time on this, if you choose, or you can choose to include totally false information in your "Genealogy". That is your right.

Personally, I prefer to only include information that can be substantiated.

This is pure bull manure, that all too many families have in their "history".

NO members of the Rothschild family emigrated to the States and did not remain VERY, VERY Wealthy. They did not marry commoners, and they did not refuse to pass on their wealth to not spoil their children.

These kinds of stories appear in a lot of families, and they turn out to be 100% made up, usually sometime in the 1890's-abotu 1910, when someone was looking for some "instant status".

Help!

There are records indicating that Jonathan Haines or Haynes married Sarah Rogers (1682-1776) and that they had a daughter Eleanor. Eleanor was born 16 Dec. 1724 and married Paine Turner. I am looking for the relevant dates or parentage of this Jonathan Haynes or Haines. I have found several Jonathan Haines or Haynes who are much discussed but no evidence that they had a daughter named Eleanor.
Is anyone aware of an Eleanor Haines or Haynes in the time frame reference above, i.e. the 1700s? I am trying to find her parents.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael
Re: Catherine Haines Lescalleet

Hello and sorry for the lengthy delay in responding! Below is my possible connection. Any thoughts/links you may have would be most appreciated:

Mary Cecelia Sargent was my great grandmother, wife of George Butler Wells. Her 1918 death certificate shows her parents as George Sargent, born in Massachusetts, and her mother as Laura Dyer, born in Baltimore. In the 1870 census, I find in one household: George H sargent (age 24, born Massachusetts) and Laura Sargent (age 18, born Maryland), plus Mary C Sargent (3 months), living in Baltimore with head of household Benjamin Dyer(52, born Pennsylvania) 'Feed Dealer', Cecelia Dyer (45, born Maryland) plus Henrietta Dyer (19).

Looking back to the 1860 census, there's a Benjamin (41)/Cecelia (36) household with Sarah (16), John (12), Rebecca (19) and Laura (7).

Jumping ahead to the 1880 census, we have Benjamin (60) 'Feed Store' and Cecelia Dyer (56) along with John Dyer (33) son, Alice Dyer (20) daughter, Carrie Dyer (11) daughter and Alice Sargent (6) relationship not noted. However Alice Sargent's parents' birth locations of Massachusetts for father and Maryland for mother are noted, which fit with George and Laura Sargent per the 1870 census.

Are these the same households? The parents are close but the children are all different, yet there is a Sargent connection in both 1870 and 1880. If they're the same, where were John, Alice and carrie in 1870? The 1880 John seems to fit with the 1860 John so he could have left home and come back again.... Also, I don't know if my Mary Cecelia had a sister named Alice.

Is Cecelia Dyer, mother of Laura Dyer Sargent, your Cecilia Lescalleet? Perhaps something in your information will help clear this up for me.

Thank you!
Sherry Wells Phoebus

Eleanor Haynes or Haines (1724-64) Conn/VermontEditDelete

Help!

There are records indicating that Jonathan Haines or Haynes married Sarah Rogers (1682-1776) and that they had a daughter Eleanor.Eleanor was born 16 Dec. 1724 and married Paine Turner.

I cannot determine the relevant dates or parentage of this Jonathan Haynes or Haines.

Thanks,

Michael
