Tamer Halstead

trying to locate more info on a Tamer Halstead. We have been showing her as a Koen that married a Halstead and then married our ancestor Deliverance Gray. However, we can't find any record showing there was a Tamer Koen. Even cked out Koen and Kin book which does show a Deliverance Gray being named in will of Rueben Koen. This is where some speculate that this is A male Deliverance married to a Koen girl but there is never mention of a Koen named Tamer BUT there is a girl listed as a dtr of one of the Koens whose name was Deliverance. So, I am beginning to think maybe our Tamer Halstead wasn't a Koen to begin with. So, does anyone know of a Tamer Halstead that would have been aged right to marry a Deliverance Gray in Tn in 1791-have seen copy of the marriage bond. any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

William Halstead and Jacob Halstead Trumbull Co., OHio

I am trying to find info about William Halstead he is listed in the Johnston Twp Trumbull Co., Ohio tax records of 1834. First is Jacob, Jacob Jr., David, Samuel, William and Charles. William surely is a son of Jacob. He named his son Judson Joshua Canfield Halstead born 1836 in Trumbull Co., Ohio this is according to a Navy Pension record. Jacob has a son listed in the 1790 census record in New York and is listed on the same page as Peter Jersey so I assume that the son belongs to Annie Jersey. This son also appears in the 1800 census. Does anyone know where the bible record that was in the Jacob Halstead bible that was returned to Isaac in the early 1900's from the pension office in DC? We believe that William must have died after 1841 because we know of 3 children Judson, Amanda and Laura all appear in Perry County Indiana after 1850 AND 1860. Any help would be greatly appreciated. William surely is a son of Jacob he gave his son the same name at Jacob's son Judson!
Eminel Potter Halstead, born August 13, 1833, died ca 1909, married Emilie M.______? Is this your man?
He served as a Captain in the Civil war for the Union from 1861-1865. Then he was employed with the Pension Department in Washington D. C.
Eminel P Halstead was my g.grandfather's brother, and I have some letters E. P. wrote to my g.grandfather throughout the
Civil War, and a letter penned in 1892 summarizing his military career. I find no reference to a wife, so I may not be able to shed light on the years you are hunting. W.

Have you checked his pension file? He was "slightly wounded" at Antietam (see http://www.civilwarhome.com/doubledayantietam.htm).

It looks like he later married "Mary B." and filed for an invalid pension from D.C. on 3 July 1890 and Mary filed for a widow's pension from D.C. in the 1920s. (Maybe you can read the writing better than I can). The pension index card (attached) has the pension application and certificate numbers. Drawing a pension for so long, it is sure to be a thick file with lots of info.

Bvelke,

Yes, he is the one I seek. I find patents in his name as well as some with he and his father-in-law, Richard C. Ball. (most dealing with planers and such) However, I lose track of he and his wife and daughter in Washington D.C. in the 1880's. Do you know what became of this family? Annie is the much older sister (and I believe birth-mother)of my gg grandmother, Mabel Ball.
Warmest regards, Renee

Go to MyHeritage.com and tell your connection to the Halstead family. Once you are a member, you can trace the whole tree back to England. And that includes Isaac's father, John. You can also add yourself and members of your family.

Do you have any records that link Isaac to his father John Halstead? Any help would be appreciated.

Have a wonderful day,

Johnna

Hi, I've been looking over my information and I have 4 George Washington "Halsted" 's (notice, no second "a"). All of them descend from an original George Washington Halsted (b. 1723), son of Caleb and Ann (Nancy) Spencer-Halsted.

At this time, this family totally lived in NJ. Doesn't seem to be a connection.

I'll keep looking though...

I also have an Isaac Halsted b. 1822 in NJ married to a Mary E. (?). I'll see what I can do.

Lew

Florence was my great grandmother's sister. Her name was Estelle Halstead. They both lived in Jersey City from @1860 - 1910. Trying to find relatives from the Halstead branch, including the Becks, Peetz' and Moores, who may have some information about the Halsteads. Estelle married Joseph Henry Jones. Her parents were Isaac Halstead and Rachel Kitson Halstead. They also had other children, including Charles Halstead. Please help if you can!

Hi Dwight,

The Josiah Halstead I am looking for was married to Mary Foster. He was born in 1812 as far as we know from our records. After Josiah Died Mary remarried a man called Jamieson.

My great grandfather (Josiah's son) was George Washington Halstead and married to emily mary hill (Daughter of John Hill and emily Douglas Douthat).

We have traced Josiah to Fiji & the Sunday islands but have been unable to trace his lineage in the US from Madison County or find out how he came to be on the Sunday Islands.

Any assistance you can provide would be invaluable to me as my Dad who was previously tracing this passed away last year and I have taken over trying to trace this side of our family in the US.

Tracey,
Being fairly new at this I have not spent near the time on my research that you have on yours about the Halsteads.

I read your post and am not sure if you're still out there since the last one that I have seen is dated January of this year.

Cora Halstead, one of Cornelius twin sisters, is my paternal great-grandmother. She married Rev Olla L Cross. When researching her background I to ran into the same issue with Samuel Halstead. So started through these posts and come across your note below from 2005.

Anyway, my question is how did Rosalie solve and validate your brick wall with Samuel and his parents etc and how did you solve the issue that Samuel's first name was really John? And lastly, did you hear from anyone about the validity of the information in the book 'The Story of the Halsteads of the United States?' Would it be worth me procuring a copy of it?

Thanks so much in advance for your assistance. I am willing to share any information that I have even tho it may not be anything that you don't already have.

Dan

It took me a while to stumble on these posts as well.
I am the granddaughter of Rosalie Halstead Brown, being the eldest daughter of her eldest son, Carl Brown. Grandma Rosie had two sons and four daughters, and all but one of them are deceased. Her youngest daughter lives in Ripon WI and I see her quite often. The second youngest daughter, my Aunt Mary Brown Briese, who had no children and died a few years ago, left behind the Halstead and Brown family histories research she had done in the 1980's. My cousin was given most of the Brown history and I was given most of the Halstead research, which is sadly out of date. Many of the names you mentioned sound very familiar, so I may very well be able to help you with some of your missing pieces. But, I'm pretty sure the info I have does not go back 15 generations, so you can help fill in lots, I think. I certainly hope you still check these message boards and that I will hear from you soon. Thanks.

I'm wondering if your George W. Halstead was a son of Samuel Halstead and Lois Winters Halstead? He would have had a brother named Jacob Halstead who came to Oregon by wagon train with Andrew H. Dray in 1852. Jacob married Britannia Malone in Lane County, Oregon in Dec. of 1852; he had a Donation Land Claim in Lane Co. She died in 1860 and is buried in McMinnville Oregon; I wonder if the "Dyton" referred to in Oregon is Dayton, Oregon, near McMinnville? I do not know a lot about George W. Halstead, other than that there is one buried in Tacoma, WA in the Halstead plot at Oakwood Hill Cemetery. Jacob is there; Jacob's second wife, Jane Constable Halstead; the mother Lois Winters Halstead, etc. Lois's husband Samuel Halstead died in Henry or Stark Co., IL as I understand it. My husband descends from Jacob's sister Phoebe Halstead Drake.

Halsteads of Bolton, Lancashire

I am researching the Halstead family of Bolton, Lancashire county, England. My ancestor is Mary Halstead, born 1809, who married William Jackson in 1834. In 1841 there are a few other Halstead and related families in Bolton: James and Martha, who were living with James' father, David Halstead; William and Ann and family, who look to be of the same generation as David, who was born 1777; Samuel and Mary (Halstead) Pearce and family; and Joseph and Sarah (Monks) Halstead and family. After about 1845-1850 I can't find most of these families. The Halsteads seem to have left. I find a lot of Halsteads in surrounding areas, but they seem to disappear from Bolton. Does anyone have any information about where the Halsteads came from before Bolton and possibly where they went?

Thank you!

I'm looking for information about William "Bill" Halstead. I believe he was born around 1932 and died in the mid-1990's of heart disease. He was living in the Oakland, CA area around 1950-2. That is all the information I have. If anyone has any leads, please email me at lcriggers20@gmail.com

Thank you!
