I cannot say. This original surname of this Hamm family was Hendrickham. Somewhere along the line, the family dropped the prefix - Hendrick.

Any chance this Hamm line is connected to Stephen Hamm of Virginia (1734-1811)?

I descend from John Hamm and Susannah Stout. John's father was Moses Hendrickham and his wife's name was Marget. I have not worked on this branch for a while but I do have a little bit of information. I only have 4 children listed but this may not be complete - John, Charles, Alexander and Benjamin F.

The best way to reach me is at momtms4@aol.com

Carole Sheppard Jones

Mary,

I am Susan's cousin and just noticed your post. I do not know if you will see this since it has been about 10 years, but I am interested in knowing if Susan got up with you on your John Ham.

I came across information about our grandparents. Our grandfather, David Lee Hamm, was born in Florida and his parents were born in England. Our grandmother, Ila Kay Diseker, was born in Alabama. Her father was born in South Carolina, and her mother was born in Alabama. All of this information I took off of an April 1930 Miami, Florida census.

I would like any information you may have.

Faye (Hamm) Storey

Hello all,

Bit late to the Hamm party but I am also a Hamm decendant but from Francis (my grandfather) who settled in Ireland having been born in Liverpool (Birkenhead) and spent a period of time in Australia. The Australian connection was always a bit of a mystery to us in Ireland but we understood it was business related??

There is still a big Hamm family in Waterford, Ireland and a book written by a cousin touches on part of the family history.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cissies-Abattoir-Eibhear-Walshe/dp/1...

All the best,

Andrew Keegan (son of Miriam Keegan nee Hamm, daughter of Francis Hamm)

Hi John,
I realize your query is several years old now...but as a descendant of Albertus Hamm's brother John Hamm (1837-1883), I've been researching this family intensively and have a lot of information to share. Several months ago I even visited the village in Germany where they emigrated from (Heddesheim, now part of Guldental, near Bad Kreuznach, Germany). Perhaps you also have more information on the family in the meantime too? Feel free to get in touch by dropping me an email at jill.warren@gmx.net if you are still interested.

Current GRANDMA says Dietrich Rempel's wife Aganetha Hamm was born 4 Mar 1847 Chortitza Colony to Gerhard Hamm and Agatha Braun born 22 Aug 1823 (a daughter of Gerhard Braun and Margaretha Sukkau). Dietrich Rempel is shown as born 27 Jan 1851, with note some sources say 1847. Gerhard Hamm, married 1844, is probably one who was born abt 1818 and died 1866, and contributors disagree whether this Gerhard is a son of Christian Martin Hamm 1780-1855 or a son of Christian's brother Martin Martin Hamm b 1782, died before 1850. I think Gerhard is probably a son of Christian Martin Hamm and his wife Aganetha born abt 1879, who is believed to be a Doerksen. The CMBoC record for Agatha Rempel Regehr says there was an uncle Abraham Hamm in California in 1924, and he will be the one born 9 Feb 1857 who immigrated 21 Jun 1892 SS Dominion, arr Quebec City, with wife Katharina Rempel 3 Aug 1864 to 1 Nov 1943 Reedley, California (death location as per GRANDMA, but California Death Records say she died Los Angeles County). See also my database for Agatha Rempel and some of her Hamm side. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...
