Hello,

I have been asked to help a friend with her family research. Her Great Grandfather was William Thomas Hanover, born 1855 Dowlais, Glamorgan, Wales. His parents were William Hanover (1819-) and Virtue Rowe (1829 -).

William T. Hanover married a Margaret (Lewis or Williams) in 1881 at Pontypridd. They had at least 9 children. Rachel Ann, Virtue Lily, William John, Sarah Jane, Evan Robert, Richard, Margaret E. Robert (her Grandfather) and Hannah.

I have started to collect some information on her family, but was just wondering if there was anyone connected to this family out there.

Regards, Malcolm

I'm researching Lulu Menolla LaFee, born in Wisc. in Aug 1881. She married Frederick J. Allan on 4 July 1898 in Marathon Co., WI. They had 4 children. In about Nov 1909 she re-married, to Robert Brotherton, also in Marathon Co. This union had a male child, Marion.

I'm looking for Lulu's(Lula) birth family. As she was born after the 1880 census, and married before the 1900 census...I haven't been able to connect her to the proper family. Any help would be appreciated.

Have no idea if the poster is still active or not. I was just doing some research on Hanovers in Delaware Co., OH and found this message. I've found a Betta Hanover (a male)in a census who was born Jan 1884 and was wondering if he could be this Lyman Bertrum Hanover. Seems likely as his grandfather was Lyman Hanover b Oct 1829. Anyway the older Lyman married into my Clark family and so I'm a 3rd cousin twice removed of Betta. I'd be glad to exchange info as I can.

Children of William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland

I live in the small town of Paxville, SC, named after Joseph Pack who received a royal land grant in the latter 1700s and settled with his wife, Louisa Alexander, in this area, where they proceeded to have 12 children. Being a descendant of Joseph and Louisa, I have often heard the story, as have other descendants< that Joseph was the son of William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, third son of King George II of England, and Mary Packard, a commoner. Joseph elected to take part of his mother's surname as his own, hence the name Pack. Supposedly, the land grant was given to Joseph because he was the cousin of King George III. Does anyone have information that would verify this story? Can anyone tell me where I might go to get information that might verify this story? Any help would be appreciated.

Leah and Sherri, My husband's grandmother was one of the 14 children of George Warren and Ada Lafee. I have done extensive research on this family. Ada Lafee was a Bradford so all 14 of the chidren and their direct line descendants are descended from Governor William Bradford who came on the Mayflower. I would be willing to share information with, but it will have to be after Christmas in January.

Karen
Bev,

My cousin and I are trying to do our family tree, we read in one of your postings that your great grandmother was married to a Lafee. Our grandfather was a Lafee, and we would really appreciate it if you could share any information you may have about the Lafee's. Who was your Great grandmother and who was she married to? that might help us out alot. Do you know what her relation to Ada and Warren Lafee of Colby Wisconsin was, we have discovered they had 14 children. We are particularily interested in which one of their children had a son named Raymond Lafee, we think it was most likely either Bert, Gerald or Raymond, can you help at all? We would be glad to share any information we have with you!

Hope to talk to you soon.

Sherri and Leah

Ho

I am getting really confused. 1900 census shows him in Warrick Co., Indiana, 1920 census shows him in White Co., Illinois under the name of Hanold. 1930 census shows them in White Co., Illinois under Hanover again. My granfather, George Minyard Hanover was born in 1898 and we were told he was born in Stoddard County, Missouri.

Here is what I have on George Nelson Hanover.
b. 4 Mar. 1827 in Munson, MA d. ? , but is buried in Benton County, IA.. I have looked for his headstone with no luck.

George married Elizabeth Church. b. 19 April 1828 in VT.
d. 17 Nov. 1911 and is buried in Shellsburg Cemetery.

They were married 28 Feb. 1847.

There was no further info about Frank or Hattie in the Newton family Bible.

. It is a mystery to me why there are in it and what the connection . Also, the Bible has Smealon instead
of Smealson ??? I did find a Frank Smealon living in Cedar Rapids in 1880, but not sure if any connection. Both spellings are not common suirnames.

Bob

My ancestor Joseph Stuckenberg was born in 1837 in Hanover Germany, migrated eventually to Richmond, Va., Where I still reside. He was married to Ann Lizzie Stuckenberg who was also born in Germany in 1841. They had several sons one of which was Bernard. This sounds similiar to your information and may tie in at some point. Please e-mail me with your opinion.

As far as I know, I've never seen a connection between my Newton and Hanover lines. But the family Bible has Frank and Hattie Hanover as keepers of the Bible at one time. Do you know of any connection between the Hanover's and Newton families in Benton County?

Thanks, Bob
I am also looking for the same name. However I was most recently told that the Lafee name was changed when they came over from Quebec, either Hull or Gatineau. The original name being Filiatreaux
or Phileautreaux. I am at a total loss. I do know that an uncle of mine who had been in the war had all of his birth records on him at the time of his death and the true name is of the latter. Why the name was changed is unknown since it is not relevant or anywhere near close to Lafee. Have you heard of any name change? If so get back to me.
Thanks,
Rita
