I have the Harbert name in my family (grandparents and mother) but my grandparents came from Prussia and I believe they had a different way of spelling their name - may never really know. Good luck with your search.
Darlene

Hattie L. Harbert (1892-1967) would have been my great-grandfather Cicero Castle Harbert's (1897-1963) sister. Hattie indeed married Glen H. Schisler (1893-1982), and both are buried in Astoria Cemetery. They had 2 children, Charles and Lois.

Charles Schisler (1867-1904) and Ellen "Ella" Davis (1866-?)Schisler were the parents to Glen. (edit* previous post I mentioned that Hattie married a Rev. Charles, however that was incorrect-thanks for pointing it out)

However there is another Hattie Schisler, who was born to Annanis and Louella (sp?) Schisler in Schuyler County...but no relation that I know of.

Lea,
Now I feel really stupid. I went to my parents and looked over their genealogy files, and well...found what you listed here. You are correct, I am sure Emily would have been also nicknamed Emma.

I guess, seeing the obit of William listing only Amanda had me thinking only one sibling. Yet now I think maybe she was the only living relative or only sibling living in Illinois.

I also have something thay may be of interest to you. I have a copy of a Civil War letter (Apr 27 1865) that was written by Marvin to his sister Martha(aka Mattie). To which I would be glad to either post here or send by a email. My dad also transcribed the letter- since hard to read some of it, and also gave some irony about the letter (wrote Lee surrendered and after Lincoln was shot)

A 1880 census shows Marvin was living in South Dakota.(Bobtail Gulch and Terraville, Lawence County, Dakota Territory). However I also have another census from 1880 (Casey Township) that shows Marvin was living with Mattie (Martha's) family, to which Isaac/Martha's last name was spelled Pierce)

Mikki

mikkimoose@sbcglobal.net
My husband is descended from Martha Harbert who married Isaac Griffin pearce in 1859 in Clark County, Illinois. William Harbert married Alice Smith in Clark Co., Ill.
Vicky,
Sorry should have introduced myself. I am Mikki (Michelle) Buhl and the Harbert relation is from my mother and her mother.

I will be glad to email you a copy of the obit, which is not the best image. As some of the words are dark and fuzzy.

However now I am puzzled as, I (nor a cousin from AL) know of a sister named Emma. Unless she is a sibling that died in infancy. As the obituary for William only list one sister, Amanda. Yet I believe there may have been a step brother name Marvin.

I know Amanda's father-Daniel was a Baptist Minister and her brother-William C. (my great great Grandfather) was a Bretheran Minister. Plus William's sister-Hattie married a Rev Charles Schisler (unsure of church affilcation). So I wonder if there might be a family cemetery at a church?

Mikki Buhl mikkimoose@sbcglobal.net
Great to hear from you, I'm not sure of your first name. It's good to hear from a cousin!!! The obit is accurate my great grandmother Amanda Parmelia Harbert White lived and died in Powell, which is in Knox County Tennessee. The strange thing about it is I live in Knox County and cannot find where she and her husband are buried. That is my biggest "brick wall".
Would it be possible to send me a copy, via email, a copy of the obituary? I have pictures of Amanda and Emma, her sister, so if you would like copies, I would be happy to send them to you. But that is the only photos I have of the Harbert family. I would like it if you could email me at twilson0558@comcast.net Thanks, Your cousin, Vicky White Wilson

Harbert is my great-great grandfather.

I am not sure where Daniel, Nancy or Amanda is buried, however Rev. William C. Harbert (son to Daniel and Nancy) is buried in Astoria Cemetery. In William' obituary (March 1920) it list his sister Amanda White living in Powel Station, TN.

In 1844, this part of Dearborn County on the "other side" (SE) of Laughery Creek became Ohio County.

Jane's father was John Harbert b 1799 in Fayette County, PA probably in Bullskin Twp where his parents, Ebenezer and Mary Magdalena (Wallick) Harbert lived before coming to Dearborn Co. John died 1877 in Clark Twp, Johnson Co, IN.

Jane's mother was Elizabeth Cory b abt 1800 in Pennsylvania and died abt 1834 probably in Union Twp, Dearborn Co. as noted above. Elizabeth's parents were John Cory and Susannah Lyons.

Per Ancestry.com PublicMemberTrees, Squire and Mildred (Farnborough) Farley are listed as parents of Benjamin Farley as you have suggested.

I could find nothing on Freeland Anderson's parents.

JIM Herbert, EdD - gggrandson of John and Elizabeth (Cory) Harbert

Hi,
Just read your entry on the notice board. Bennett Crafer was my gt,gt,gt grandfather. My line of Crafers comes down from his daughter, Mary - born in Ware, Hertfordshire and eventually to Barkingside, Essex, where my great grandmother was born.

I hope this is of some interest.

Regards,
Lin
I realize you posted this question years ago, but James Harbert Wooten, Jr. is my great uncle. I've asked my dad about this book and he is not familiar with it, but he is going to ask his cousin (James H. Wooten, III) if he knows about it. The Harberts that I am related to all settled in Columbus, TX or Colorado County, TX. I'd imagine the book would concentrate on the decedents of Thomas Harbert (married to Sarah Crockett in 1792) and his children who eventually settled in Texas. I suppose there could be another James H. Wooten, Jr though with ancestors in California?

My great uncle did record some information about the Wooten Ranch (in Columbus) with information about William Harbert and his children, which I could sent you a copy of. He also helped write some information about the Harberts in a series of books called The Colorado County Chronicles. (Or, something like that.) Feel free to contact me for more information!

He was knocked to one side, receiving a fracture of the right clavicle near the shoulder and an ugly gash on the forehead. He was attended by Police Surgeon LANDON, and removed to the City hospital. He was resting easy at a late hour last night, and it is thought he will recover in a few days.
Hi
My maiden name is Harbert. My mother and father were Fred and Rose and visited Stella Harbert in Runwell. They also spoke of Roy who had a sister Joan. My parents went to a wedding of one of Stella's children in Essex. I have a few photos of Roy and Joan as children. I have been looking for relatives of Stella's for a long while as Roy is listed in my family bible. I also have a couple of photographs of Joan's wedding.
Pat Somerfield.
