Thanks for answering my message. I come from the John Skelton-Mary Rebecca Harbour line. Mary Rebecca's father was Esaias Harbour. I found the family burial plot in Franklin County Ga. I have some photos of his marker and also a few other family members. As far as I can tell Esaias' Grandfather (Thomas Harbour 1691-1768) was from Wales and his GreatGreatGrandfather (Abner Harbour 1649-1700) was from Penbrooke Wales. My Grandfather X 8 (William Skelton 1650-1700) was from Featherstone Yorkshire England. He married a woman name Isabelle. I believe her last name was Sanar.
Henry Eason
Auburn Georgia

Do you have the book "The Harbours in America" by Louis Williams? It has much information on Thomas Harbour and all the Harbours who followed. His son Elisha and wife Margaret have 5 children listed but the commentary says that though Elisha, Elisha Jr. and Joseph all received land grants in Christian County, Kentucky between 1799-1813, the researcher is not sure these "candidate" children were Elisha and Margaret's offspring. Can you shed any light on this? From the book are Jeremiah, Amos, Elisha Jr., Micajah and Joseph Elisha's children or children of Talmon and Mary Wright Harbour. A little bit of a mystery! Please let me know what info you have. Thanks.

I am looking for documentation on the Thomas Harbour and Sarah Witt line. Is there a will? If so, where can it be found? My next descendant is their son, Elisha Harbour who married Margaret---. Also looking for documentation on this line. I have ordered several backorders of the Harbour-Witt newsletter for clues. Any help would be appreciated.

There are special deals from ancestry.com. Last week they had a deal to pay $49 for six months. Sometimes it's free for two weeks. The book I'm referring to is titled "The Harbours in America" by Louis J. Williams. Unfortunately it is out of print but is available on ebay. Check around with the other relatives; someone may have this book. Many editions were sold. Anyway I've copied the pages pertaining to James Monroe and Martha Prudence Willingham Harbour; also found a page regarding the grandson named James Monroe. The elder James Monroe was married twice so for the grandson it will show the second wife Mrs. Mary Ann Yarberry Harbour. I would be willing to mail these pages to you. Would you send your mailing address to me by private email? My email is daleenkay@gmail.com. Great to make contact with another Harbour!!!
If anyone is interested I found the Harbour Cemetery just outside of Carnesville Ga. It has several unmarked graves but there are 3 markers. One is listed as Mary B. Harbour, wife of E.J Harbour, another is listed as Mildred Harbour, daughter of E.J. Harbour but the main one is the grave of Esaias Harbour (1747-1833). It said he fought for a Virginia Company in the Revolutionary War. I have it posted on my family tree.

I don't recognise any of the names or occupations, so I don't think there is a link unless it is way back in the mists of time! There do seem to be quite a few coincidences though. I said I had not so she looked for me and came up with the following info.

2 Inwood Road Hounslow - where Dad grew up.

Head of Household Esther Elizabeth Perryman Widow Age 39 Born 1872
Daughter Esther Elizabeth Harbour 22 Born 1889 ) Married less than 1 year So married in
Son in Law Joseph John Harbour 24 Born 1887 ) 1910

SONS OF HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD
John Perryman Son 16 1895
Leonnard Archer Perryman 12 1899 This is the uncle my Dad was named after - I wonder if he was killed in the 14-18 War.
William Perryman 4 1907

EEP and JJH worked in market gardens
John P. was a carter

I do not know if you had any other information. I know my Dad did not have any contact with his father and it was rumoured that his parents were not actually divorced and Esther's second marriage was bigamous. She was known as Esther Briggs when she died.approx 1972

Looking at your original query I noticed you gave Dad's Birthday as Jan 21st We always thought it was Feb 21st.1913.

Please let me know if any of this is of use. Were you looking this up for John? I remember that he was quite interested. He does carry on the Harbour name.

Best wishes Rosemary
Hello Alan,
I don't recognise any of the names, but it all seems a bit of a coincidence! My father's brother was Thomas Leonard Harbour, Known to all as Len. Joseph was a name that went down several generations of our family, coming from Rye to Hastings to Lewes, then to Horsham and ending in London. I wonder if there is a connection way back somewhere? I didn't know of any other Harbours in Hounslow when I lived there.
Do let me know if you find any connections.
Kind regards,
Gill English.

Hi Gill

I did not expect an answer to this posting after all these years! Unfortunately, your Harbours don't mean anything to me but I have asked my cousin, Rosemary Harbour. She replied that there were several Harbour families in Hounslow - Pat Harbour was in her class at primary school but she was no relation. However, she will now ask her Mum and, if there is any more information, I will let you know.

I'm afraid that I do not know the marriage date for John Joseph Harbour, only that his son, Leonard Archer Harbour, was born on 21 Jan 1913.

By the way, I also now live in Surrey

Alan

Hello Alan,
My maiden name is Harbour and my brother is Robert. We lived at Heston, a couple of miles from Hounslow in the 1940s and 50s. We had several Joseph Harbours in our family, but I don't know of any Joseph Johns. Do you have a date for the marriage you mentioned?
It would be good if we have a connection!
I now live in Surrey UK and my brother is in West Sussex.
Regards,
Gill English.

Would love to have any and all info that is available for any of the allied lines. Also, could you provide info re: Harbour reunion. Anything would be most appreciated. The fatherest line is Thomas Harbour who married Sarah Witt. I go no further back than Thomas. Would love to have more info on him. On Sarah Witt, I go back to John Witt/Whitt, b. circa 1645.
Hi Dorla,

Just discovered this site but in my research travels have seen your name. I have copies of Jess's list of children and wives dates from the family bible. He listed Rozina as having been born November 2, 1811. I also have a land purchase certificate for William McIntire re land in Champaigne county in 1831.(78 acres) I also have the same for Jesse Harbour on that same date.(79 acres) Both in same township but Wm in section 1, Jesse in 18. If I recall correctly, a census showed McIntires as next door neighbors to Jesse(assume his father-in-law. Don't know if they are connected or not. How great that you have a copy of Jesse's and Jane Hall's wills. Could I trade you a copy of that for the Bible copies(in Jesse's hand)

Judy

I am trying to research the Harbour or Harber family who were related to the Ward/Rodgers/Stephens family from Buda, Texas. I know there were relatives living in San Antonio about 1960's and a Lucille (who married a Jim Dyer)was friends with a Jackie Stephens about that time. Part of the Harber family lived in South San Antonio and one of them (I believe the name was Joe) taught at the college there. Any connection? Thanks, Pat

We have an annual Harbour Family reunion August each year in Patrick County VA. For more info contact me!

The oldest info we have shows Thomas Harbour being the first Harbour to imagrate to the uninted states in 1720's. It is believed that all the harbours in the US decended from Thomas Harbour. He was born in Whales between 1705 and 1725. He married Sarah Whitt.
