Hi

I've just found your posting regarding Hardware's from Staffordshire (although I appreciate that its actually 9 years old).

I am also researching the Hardware's originating from the Staffs area and have possibly got back to 1600. I would be interested in exchanging notes if you have had any success (if not you are welcome to see my info).

By the way - are you Eileen and Harry's son Garry? If so we're related.

Helen

Hi Sara

Thanks for your response. I'm trying to trace the parents/siblings of John Hardware, who was born in 1814/1816 (unclear which) in Birmingham, possibly died in 1887. He married Susannah Atkins (of Bethnall Green) in 1834 at St John's Coventry.

I think that they had about 6 children (Henry - born in Coventry 1835, Maria -b. Derby 1841, Albert Frederick (sometimes just Frederick, or the other away around) b. 1850 in Coventry, Eliza Atkins b. 1832 out of wedlock) - can't find my notes on the others but they might have been John and George.

I'm a descendent of Albert Frederick.

I used to have a family tree which showed that they came from Cheshire, so I was aware of that (I believe that 2 were Mayor of Chester - something I never got to confirm when I lived there) but it didn't connect to the line I'm from.

If you are able to help at all that would be great. I've been banging my head for about 4 years now and don't seem to be able to get back beyond John Hardware.

Many thanks

Helen

Hi, I note that there was previously a posting on this subject some years ago.

I'm trying to trace the Hardware family backwards from John Hardware who was born in 1814/1816 in Birmingham (he married Susannah Atkins in about 1834), however I keep drawing a blank. I'm fairly new to this so if anyone can help I'd be really grateful.

Many thanks

Helen Hardwae

Dear Kathy,

Many thanks for your reply. Our families meet at William Hardware, born about 1731 who was married to Jane(Jenny)Selvester, the Canadian branch of the family meet here too.All the Hardwares, about 900 that I have traced so far,are directly related. We all go back to Cheshire, where we were famous and Lancashire in England as you probably know, the bulk of us settled in the English Midlands. We are also a family of both Black and White people. The first Black Hardwares pre date our arrival in Jamaica and I would love to know who the first Black Hardware was.On one side of the family from Cheshire I have gone back to 650ad.Part of our French ancestry.I believe both sides originated in France prior to Lambert Hardwareman in the 1400s because of our Cistercian connections. If you or your husband would like to share information I have a tree on my computer which you are welcome to but you would need the FREE edition of GenoPro to open and read it,from www.genopro.com I am presently packing my computer etc to go back to Australia from England so I am afraid it will be offline in a day or two so you are welcome to contact me direct on my yahoo email. alanhardware@yahoo.ca

Regards,

Alan.
Kathy,
As I was digging around on the net I checked for any HARDWARE emigrating to America around 1850. The only one listed was a WILLIAM HARDWARE listed on a CD of passengers leaving Ireland for the States. It is a FAMILY TREE CD and only accessable if you use the FAMILY TREE programn. Maybe you use it or you may know someone that does. Hope this little helps
Gerry
BIRMINGHAM UK
