Re: obit for Johnie Harlen of Atkins, Arkansas

My family line crosses paths with Mr. Harlen. I'm looking for information on this Harlen line. Mr. Harlen's father William J. Harlen had a brother John Harlen that was killed in a cotton gin accident around 1909-12. This John Harlen was married to Beattrice Mitchell and they had a daughter named Beattrice Harlen (my grandmother). Beattrice Mitchell passed away around 1908. It is rumored that John Harlen remarried between the death of his wife Beattrice and fathered another daughter before he died. I'm looking for this daughter and her family as well as information on John Harlen's line of ancestors if anyone has any information. Any help will be appreciated.

Clementine Harlen?

I have a marriage license issued to an ancestor of mine with his mother listed as Clementine Harlen(?). It is handwritten of course and hard to decipher and the name is H-A-R/S-L-I/E-N/W. Only the HA_L__is really legible and the other letters are best guesses. This license was given to John B. Bright and Mary E. Hamilton in Hopkins county, Kentucky in 1852. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Harlen Family

I just recently started researching my husbands' maternal line. We discovered that his gggggg-Grandfather was John Blackburn from Ireland, who married Rebecca (Harlan)Harlen, also from Ireland. They both immigrated to Pennsylvania along with other Irish Quakers.

This is what I have so far:

John Blackburn b.ABT 1643 in Ireland d. 1723 in Ireland.
+ Elizabeth------------

--John Sr. Blackburn b. ABT 1670 d.1752 in Adams Co. PA.
+Rachel Morton m. 5-16-1717 --

--John Blackburn b. Ireland d. PA
+Rebecca Harlan (Harlen...I've seen it both ways.)

--Margaret Blackburn b. 1740
+ Solomon Shepherd Jr. b. 1740 PA

and more decendents down to my husband.

If any of this sounds interesting, e-mail me and I will send further info.

Cat (I also have ancestral lineage for Rebecca)
