here gos nothing.parents of nancy c hurless b 1868 is her side william and mary sheets.her husband and his side were william hurless,his parents are sam adama d b1836 d 1896 and susan hurless b 1840 d 1918.sams folks are richard b 1799 d 1858 and mary b 1801 d 1896 (foltz)hurless.

Yes, that appears to be the same James and Nancy Harless Ewing. Laura Fenimore's gedcom shows their son James Whitley Ewing as born 1854, died 1932, but doesn't show Lucinda or any other siblings:

I have been researching my grgrgrandmother Lucinda Ewing Gobble's family line and i have been trying to pin down her parents. i know her father was James Ewing b. 1812 in virginia and her mother's name was Nancy. I found a James Ewing married to a Nancy Harless on Rootsweb and was wondering if they could be the ones I am looking for. Lucinda had siblings. I found a James and Nancy Ewing on the Mormon website (1850 census) but it didn't give Nancy's maiden name. Lucinda's sibs were: Mary, Sarah, Amelia, Jas, Catherine, Susan, and Samuel. any help would be great. thanks Lisa Widner

I don't believe the Benjamin you have is the same one I have. Mine is Benjamin Lawson Harless, b. 25 Mar 1896 in WV and died 26 Jan 1969 in Ohio.

I am interested in learning more about the PRESTON family. My 3G-grandfather born in 1799 was named Hugh Preston Wilson. He was the second-born son of David Wilson and Jane Weir (Wear). I have long suspected kinship to the PRESTON line, but I do not know of any specific connections to either David or Jane.

My Aunt Wilmoth Cantley married Benjamin Lawson Harless in WV.
(Lawson) was born 1895 and died 1985 in Brounland, WV (near Charleston, WV). They had 5 sons, and one daughter. Are these familiar to you???

Hello, My name is Marlene Lilli Estep. My great grandmother was Louisa Harless, she married Archibald Estep. My grandfather was William "Willy" Estep. My father was Leland Lester Estep.
I was always told that my great granny was pure Cherokee Indian. Is that true?
I found a Louisa Harless on the Dawes Rolls, but I'm not sure that my greatgranny is the same one on that list.

I've just started looking into my Harless ancestry and found that I am descended from the line that includes Johan Philip (1718-1772), Martin (1738-1820), Philip (1760-1850), Harrison (1824-1907), and Preston (1860-1932).
I'd love to hear from anyone with stories, pictures, papers, or any other info any these men, their wives, or others in their families. I've read much of what is in the Pritchard "Harless Genealogy" book about them and have found a few other things, but it would be great to hear and read more. Any info you might have, or just a quick word telling me how you might fit into my family tree would be awesome!
By the way, Preston is my great-great grandfather through his son, Harry.

Henry David Thompson Harless

Henry David Thompson Harless first married Malinda Foust 1841, married second Frances Ann Wisdom 1851, married third Mary Ann McClinton 1871. All these marriages were in AL. I find him easily on the 1860 census in Shelby Co AL and the 1880 census in Coryell Co TX. I cannot find him on the 1870 census. According to other’s research he is still in AL in 1870 because he got married there.

I am interested in his children with Frances Wisdom. What happened to Martha and Lucy? Did they move to TX with their dad and stepmother? Martha would have been 15 in 1870 and Lucy would have been 11.

Willoughby Fullen married a Harless (no one in the family knows her name) just after 1870 and they had a son named Henry. After a couple more children, she died and in 1880 Willoughby was a widower living in Bell Co which is the next county over from Coryell where the Harless family lived.

Willoughby then married the sister of the Harless woman and her name was Lucy. Willoughby died in 1893 but Lucy lived until 1947. Lucy Harless Fullen’s death record says she was born 12-24-1857. Her tombstone only reads 1858-1947. HDT Harless’s daughter Lucy was born 12-15-1859. Whether the birth date is 57 or 58 it is not right for this Lucy to be the one Willoughby married unless she was confused about the year.

Any ideas for solving this mystery would be appreciated.

The reason this picture was taken was because it was in a cemetery that I photographed ALL the tombstones.
