Cornelius W Harris - death date and place?

Various ancestry family trees give a death info for Cornelius W. Harris (b. Covington, GA 1837) as Stamps, Arkansas 1887. But he appears in the 1900 census (Broken Arrow GA) as a widower; I have a family photo of him that has to have been taken after 1900 because of the other person included (posted on my public tree McBride-Collins) and the newspaper obit of his son Cornelius Jefferson "Jeff" Harris (d. 1910) mentions that the father survives him.

I believe that John's parents which are Elivra S. Jones Harris and Thomas B. Harris lived in Isle of Wight County Virginia. I am not sure who Thomas parents are, but I working on it. I do know that Thomas probably pasted away sometime after 1905, but I am not sure when. Please keep an eye on this message board.
My great grandmother was Sarah E Harris, born in Georgia in 1832. She married David A. Blackston in Chambers County,AL in 1850. They lived there until sometime after 1880, having nine children. I can find no records of any kind of her or David after 1880. My mother, now deceased, left notes saying David and Sarah were buried at Mt. Hickory Primitive Baptist Church in northern Chambers County, but I can find no records supporting that. If anybody has any information regarding Sarah or David I would appreciate hearing about it.

My grandmother was a Harris and gave me a family booklet which has the following:

"William Harris, who married Temperance Overton, died March 8, 1687. He was buried in Old Colonial Church at Weyanoke on the James River, VA. A bronze tablet marks his resting place. The Old Church long since gone to ruin, on July 1, 1875, the tablet was found and moved to Norfolk, VA to St Paul's Old Church. Engraved on the tablet, 'Here lyeth ye body of William Harris, who departed this life ye 8th day of March, 1687, aged 35 years.'

To William and his wife, Temeperance Overton were born three sons: Christopher, born 1671; Robert, born 1673, and Overton, 1675."

I have s tad bit more and can mail you copies of this little family book printed in 1928 by Milus Harris, my grandmother's uncle. Cheers.

Hi -my great-grandmother was Olivia McClure Harris (1850-1928) m. to John Newton Cross. She was the daughter of Thomas Banks Harris (1818-1904) m. to Margaret Dun Thompson (1828-1888). This line is susposed to descend back to Robert Harris and Mourning Glenn but I am not quiet sure how it does.
Is it possible to get a copy of your booklet? I would be willing to pay any reason cost you might incur. Or possibly you could scan and mail me the pages that pertain to my line.
Harris, Rowena wife of Phineas Pierce

Would like information on who Rowena Harris' parents were. Rowena was born 1778, supposedly in Plainfield, Conn. However, she does not seem to "belong" to any of the Harris families there (wills, land records, Harris Genealogies). Rowena married Phineas Pierce around 1795. Phineas removed to Mansfield, Conn., and, it is said, also lived in Sterling, and Rockville, Conn. Rowena died April 10, 1850 and is buried in Mansfield as is Phineas.
Will share research if desired. Thank you. I am in receipt of the Birth Cert. for Sarah Charlotte HARRIS born 17.08.1849 at 21 Hereford Street, Lisson Grove, Marylebone showing Father Robert HARRIS a Coach Smith & Mother Elizabeth nee ROLFE.

These details are correct as they tie in with what I already have. Are they any relation to your HARRIS'S.

Maggie

Dear Margaret: I may have some useful information for you. My father was John Wesley James Harris, who was born in Baring, Knox Co. MO in 1898 and was the oldest son of John Simpson Harris, II (b. 2/18/1851 in Kenton Co. KY and d. 1/19/1943 in Baring, Knox Co. MO) and Emeline McNabb, who he married on 7/1/1886 in Edina MO. They had 8 children including my father.

John Simpson Harris II was the son of John Simpson Harris (b. 2/28/1812 Louisville, Jefferson Co. KY and d. 4/23/1882 in Baring, Knox Co. MO and is buried at Slocum Cemetery) and Mary Jackson Price (b. 1/19/1815 in TN or PA and d. 1/8/1894 in Baring, Knox Co. MO and is buried at Slocum Cemetery). They were married 10/30/1834. They are listed in 1880 Census as residing in Greensburg, Knox Co. MO and employed as a 68 year old farmer with 3 children, John 28, Mary 24 and James 22 (clearly George, Nancy and Stephen having already left the nest). The 1880 census for Greensburg, Knox, MO lists John’s father’s birthplace as England and his mother’s as KY. See Census Film T9-0697 Line 98 page 635.

They had six children: (1) George (DOB 9/9/1835 in Kentucky), (2) Nancy Levina (DOB 2/16/1842 in KY), (3) Steve (DOB 3/6/1848 in KY), (4) John Simpson II (info above) (5) Mary Isabell (DOB 2/27/1855 in ILL and d. 1939), and (6) James Richard (DOB 3/19/1857 in ILL and d. 5/17/1886).

The 1870 Census for MO lists John and Mary only with Stephen G (21 yrs old), John (19 yrs old), Mary (15 yrs old) and James R. (at 13 yrs old) but lists Mary’s birthplace as TENNESSEE whereas the 1880 census identifies it as PA???. I have been looking for information confirming Mary Jackson Price’s birth and parents as well as John Simpson Harris’s.

Ira James Harris, Esq.
LAW OFFICE OF IRA JAMES HARRIS
One Camino Sobrante, Suite 208
P.O.
Re: ROBERT HARRIS - CAN ANYONE HELP

Obviously I cannot guarantee if Robert HARRIS & Co went to the States although I have done some research. The only other thing I know is Robert HARRIS snr was still alive in 1863 when his daughter Elizabeth Ann HARRIS was married & his name appeared on her marriage cert. & deceased was not inserted so I take it he was still living & still a Coachsmith.

I have checked your relevant message board posts & names do not seem to tie up.

Thank you so much for your trouble.
Regards, Maggie

Do you know if your Robert and Elizabeth Harris came to the United States? The parents of John P Harris? Could they have been here by 1854?

Thanks
