I am looking for information on Joseph Harrison born about 1770 in Virginia. Died late 1827 or early 1828 in Jones County, GA. He married Charlotte ?? (1795 - aft 1850). Charlotte has often been listed as Middleton but I can find no documentation to that effect. She was born in either NC or VA and died in GA.

Does anyone have any information about the daughters of Benjamin Harrison V. ? I'm especially interested in his daughter Ann (possibly named Nancy Ann) who married a David Copeland or Coupland in 1775. Did Ann and David have a daughter also named Ann (or Annie, Anna - born in Virginia abt 1785) who married William McDonough in Bledsoe County Tennessee abt 1810 or 1811 .

Re: Benjamin Harrison Signer of Declaration of independence

I have been doing research because our ancestor used to say that the presidential Harrison were his cousins. What may explain this is that the link is actually back before Bejamin Harrison the first. According to some history I found about Benjamin Harrison he had several relations with the Harrison surname who immigrated to America with and/or because of them, and that at the time of the American Revolution many of the colonists with the Harrison surname in VA, but not all of them, were in fact, cousins, add to that people of the settlements intermarrying and you would end up with many connections between people through blood or marriage. My great grandfathers name was Thomas Harrison also, his parents were born in Virginia and he served in the Blackhawk War as a captain. He owned property in Monroe County and St Louis Missouri and according to family lore Wm Henry Harrison once visited the family when campaigning in the region. His farm flooded in the 1830's so badly that he moved up to the hills in Jo Davies County, Il, near Galena, because the country would not be prone to flooding. His son John B. Harrison served with the Il 45 under US Grant and was killed at Vicksburg. What we do not have is the name of his father and mother which is lost in the Westward migration. If your relatives were in the territories during the late 1790's and early 1800's records will be sparse and you will have to rely on accounts of early settlers/settlements obtained from county historical societies and connect the dots with the information you do have.
Father of Thomas Harrison b.1812 East Firsby, Lincs

According to all the English Census Records Thomas Harrison was born in East Firsby, Lincolnshire in 1812. On his marriage allegation to Elizabeth Parker in 1832 in Reepham, Lincolnshire, he stated on oath that he had obtained his father's consent to the marriage, his father being named as Thomas Harrison senior.

However, the only Thomas Harrison I can find who was born in 1812 in East Firsby, Lincs, was to parents Joseph Harrison and Susannah Kemp. I have Joseph and Susannah's marriage record in 1809 but no ages are given which makes it very difficult to tie Joseph into any particular Harrison family.

Does anyone know of this particular family or can suggest which way to go from here please. Any help much appreciated.

John Smith & the 1st permanent English settlers in 1607. Also the site of the 1st Thanksgiving, declared by the King of England, or ordered by him to be practiced. Not from Iowa, grandson from Indiana and stayed at Berkeley Plantation prior to traveling to Washington, DC for his inauguration as Pres. of the US.

Benjamin Harrison V, signer of the Declaration of Independence was born and died in Virginia. Benjamin Harrison I is referred to as "the Immigrant". He was born in England around 1594 and came to Virginia in 1622. He is considered the head of the "James River Harrisons".

There are several Thomas Harrisons in other Virginia families, but none that I remember in this line. Lots of Benjamins, Johns, Nathaniels, and Henrys, but no Thomas.

And there are many, many Harrisons who lived in other states!!!

There is a book entitled BURKE'S PRESIDENTIAL FAMILIES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA that has an extensive pedigree of the American Presidents. William Henry Harrison, the 9th president, is in the direct line with Benjamin the Immigrant. He is the son of Benjamin V. And one of his descendents is Benjamin Harrison, 23rd president, so the information continues in a direct line until about...well there are descendents born in the 1970's and 1980's. If your family is in direct line, they might be in there.

Good luck with your search.
