I've been looking at my family tree and think I may have found a link. August Joseph Hartmann was born to the Berlin actor Wilhelm Hartmann on Dec. 17th of 1812 in Stuttgart. I know nothing else about the man but August would then be about 2 years younger than Wilhelm Jr., the owner of the piano factory. If August had a son, Adolph Max, who had a son Arthur Herbert who gave birth to your father, the time line would work.

I recently met with newly discovered Hartmann relatives from Berlin and we discussed a relative with a history of being in Australia. They discussed it in the sense of "it was rumored." But if you are connected to Wilhelm Hartmann, owner of The Hartmann Piano Factory, then we are indeed related. And, yes, I'd like access to your family tree. Hello Harvey, my grandfather (Arthur Herbert Hartmann)was one of four children born to Adolf Max Hartmann, Adolf came to Australia in the 1800s and married Emma Frances Currell.
I have been told that Adolf had something to do with the Hartmann piano factory in Liepzig Germany,if this fits in with your g g grandfather, we may be related.

Edwin SCHMIDT married Marie RUDOLPH.
Helmut SCHMIDT married Ellen BURKHARDT, they had 2 children,
Ellen M SCHMIDT born about 1916 and Walter W SCHMIDT born about 1919.

Frank Hartmann's mother was Christiane Moscherosch, born 7 June 1874 in Sindelfingen. She probably emigrated after 1888.
Frank Hartmann visited his Moscherosch relatives in Germany in 1962. That's all we have so far.

I am searching for any information on Johann Hartmann, born January 2, 1874 in Assweiler, Germany. He moved to San Francisco about 1904 and the information is that he continued to write his sister after the 1906 earthquake. He was a carpenter by trade.

Ethel Elizabeth Zweber b.2/1/1918 in New Market to John William Zweber (1889-1961) and Frances Emma Sauser (1893-1972)was previously married to a Timmons. She died 9/30/2008 in St Paul.

We have her ancestors back to Prussia if you are interested.

Carole, I believe this is a connection to your family. He is listed as Johann and you refer to him as John in several of your corrections to the Ancestry.com records. I have seen your name several times for my own records and I know that Iverna Johnson is the granddaughter of Ole and Wilhemina Jensen. (Annie Jensen is Iverna's mother). I hope this helps. Pam

I know who Iverna Johnson was. Ole and Wilhemina Jensen were my ggg grandparents. Their daughter, Annie Jensen, married William Steinhaus. Their daugher, Ole and Wilhemina's granddaughter, was Iverna Steinhaus Johnson. Her husband, Clarence Johnson and their children are listed on the 1930 census of William Steinhouse as son-in-law and granddaughters. Strangely, Iverna is not listed at all, although she died in 1933. I hope this is helpful. I did not know she was buried with her grandparents so I appreciate the info! Pam

Sure would be. Hartmann is very common.

My family is from Sprendlingen, Hessen, Germany. They came in about 1906. However, the sister was already here. My guess is others also came first.

Other surnames in my Hartmann line are Schlamp, Storck, Heppel, and Schmeelk....just in case you come across some other possible connections.

Hmmmm...no, Even John was born in United States (N.Y.) but his parents and his wife's parents were born in Germany according to census, but I don't know where. Guess this is another dead end. Darn it! But thanks for the note. If we can connect them, it would be great!

I don't think so, but might be.

Thomas E would be the right age to be a brother of my Emil. But Emil was born in Germany and his father was Valentine Hartmann, born about 1856.

I have only one sister for Emil, Augusta. Maybe there were other brothers that came here or uncles? Is your family from Germany? If so do you know what town?

My grandfather was Thomas Edwin Hartmann, Sr., born 1883 in Queens, Kings cty, New York, died glen Ridge, New Jersey. He had four children, Christine, Myra, John and Thomas Edwin Jr. My great grandfather was John Hartmann, born abt 1856. Think there could be any relation?

Wow so close, but wrong names.

I wonder if the families are related? I don't know if my great grandfather had siblings, but he may have. He was Emil Hartmann. Lived in Woodhaven with his wife Lena. Their son Harry Hartmann and his wife Mary lived in Bellmore in the 1940's. My mother grew up there. Harry was born in 1903. So maybe a cousin? Maybe Emil and Frank Sr were related?

Course there are lots of Hartmanns. My family was from Sprendlingen, Germany.

Looking for any family related to Emil Hartmann (1879) from Sprendlington, Germany or his wife Lena Storck (m, to Jean Heppel, then Emil Hartmann) from Hannover, Germany or their two sons, William (1901) or Harry (1903).

William m. Mildred Bernstein, had a daughter Elizabeth (1926).

Harry m. Mary Antosh, children Lillian, Harry, Richard, Thomas.

The family lived in Brooklyn, later Queens. The children lived in NJ and later Bellmore, NY.

Christie or Christian lived in NY. His parents were Fritz & Auguste Hartmann. Fritz died in 1880, his mother remarried. After the marriage he was also known by his step-father's surname: Riedel.

Rose or Roselle was born abt. 1917 presumably in Manhattan. They later moved to Queens. I believe her father died in the 1930's. Her mother's name was Margaret.

I am looking for info on Peter Hartmann brother to Valentine listings here. Peter is his older brother. He died in Scott Co and burried in Marystown, one of the oldest graves there. Michael, Peter and Anton all married Misslin women.

In his family was wife Kathernia, 3 sons, a daughter, and his father, Nikolaus with his third wife Brigitta. This family was from Kleinliebental, Ukraine, Russia. Their sponsor was Peter FIX also from Klienliebental. ------. This family first located in St. Joseph, Buchanan, Missouri, until 1909 when they moved across the Missouri River to Doniphan County, Kansas, to farm. Joseph and Catherine are buried in the Catholic Church Cemetery in Wathena, Doniphan, Kansas. -----. Ancestors of Josef HARTMANN left the area of Seigen, Alsace, about 1804 to relocate to the Catholic Colony of Kleinliebental near Odessa, Ukraine, Russia.

Hi My brick wall is a Charles or Carl Wolf born in Bramstedt and I wonder if yours is the German spelling of Wolf. I don't have a lot of solid info but I think he was born around 1812 or so and he or his father might have been a tailor. They might have lived in Illinois or LA. Conrad or Melchior might have been family names. My g grandfather who was born from Maria Louise "Charlotte" Eilbracht of near Waterloo Illinois and Charlie Wolf could yodel but was mostly raised by relatives.Anything sound familiar please let me know.
