You have the wrong John Haselwood. My John was born in Virginia which became Grant Co, Kentucky.
This John"s father settled the area that is now Grant Co, Kentucky. Became Kentucky around the 1790's
This John married Sarah Jarvis
Jewell

The spelling was first Haselwood and then they changed the name to Hazelwood.
In 1780 there was a marriage bond to a John Haselwood to Mary. The state was virginia but then later became Grant Co, Kentucky. My feeling is that These might be My John Haselwood parents
Do you have any information
Jewell

My grandpa (whom I have never met, seen a picture of, etc) is Neal F Haselwood from Kansas and I'm trying to figure out who his parents are...from what I've heard, he is from Seward, NE. I've tried different lines and I can't figure out why I can't find him on any census records. Was he adopted or something? I would really appreciate any solid leads!

death of Noel Henry Haselwood, 1943, Sicily

Glasco Sun, Cloud County, Kansas, Sept. 16, 1943, page 3:
CORPORAL NOEL HENRY HASELWOOD
Noel Henry Haselwood, aged 31 years, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Haselwood of Silver Lake, Kansas, lost his life in the Sicilian campaign some time in August. He enlisted in the Army, October 22, 1939, at Fort Riley, and received his training there and at Fort Benning, Ga.
Direct word of his death came from Capt. Anson Haselwood, now serving in General Patton's Seventh Army, who, after learning of his brother's death, talked to Company commander, who stated he wished all his men were as conscientious as Cpl. Haselwood had been. He was lost doing his duty.
After two years of separation, the brothers had met in Africa last winter. Their companies had landed at the same time in Sicily.
Noel was born near Glasco, Kansas, May 5, 1912, and received his schooling in the Cloud county schools.
In June, 1942, he was married to Miss Lucille Wessel, of Bennington, Kansas.
He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, his parents, three brothers, Anson, of the U.S. Army; Dale, of Topeka; Everett, Jr. of the home; one sister, Martha Alice of Topeka; an aged grandmother, two nieces, two nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Just read your post on the Haselwoods. Our line comes down from James, one of the brothers of Willis and Thomas A. I have a private family tree (Glover-Downing-Haselwood 2010) that I would share with you. We may have some information you would find new and I am certain you have information on your line that we do not have.

Thanks

Just read your posts. This might help you sort things out.
John Haselwood and his wife, Sarah Jarvis, had seven children. Four of them were boys: William, James, Thomas, and Willis. Our Haselwoods come down through Willis, and I think your Haselwoods come down through Willis's brother, Thomas.

Thomas A Haselwood, b 1816 KY, married Frances A Dance. They had nine children....one of whom was Henry New Haselwood. Henry, b 1848 KY, married Martha Beagle and they had six children. Their second child was Fred Haselwood, b 1878 KS. Fred married Edith and they had at least six children. Their eldest was your grandmother, Vivian, b 1907 KS.

I think you can check all of this out on Ancestry.com....
see for yourself. You can see that "Fred" was "Ferda" in 1885 Kansas census, "Ferd" in the Kansas 1895 census, "Ferdinand" in the 1900 US census, and "Ferd N" in the 1910 US census.

By the way, as far as we know, Willis never had a child named Ferd or Fred!
Please let me know if I can help again.
Barbara

I am trying to put together a family tree. My Gradmother is Vivian Haselwood. Her dad was Ferninand,(Ferd or F.N.). Ferd's dad was Willis Green Haselwood, His Dad was John Haselwood married to Sarah Jarvis. I think his dad was Thomas Haselwood married to Francis Dance, but here I start to get confused. Somewhere on this board someone said Thomas was married to Sarah Jarvis. Any info would be helpful. Also my Grandmother is still living,(103!!) and still remembers lots, I just have to jog her memory a little. Thanks!

I think that I may be a descendant of the John Haselwood mentioned. Also of the Thomas mentioned, as well as Robert (John Robert?). Can you connect data pertaining to Little Berry Haselwood/Hazelwood/Hazlewood? I don't have much info, but am from the Johnson family that was interconnected to the Hazelwoods (all three spellings). John Wesley "Shug" Ha---wood, buried in either Prospect, TN, or Pettusville, AL, was my Great-Grandfather. It seems that twice or three times the Johnsons and Hazelwoods (cousins?) intermarried.
There are both Johnsons and Hazelwoods/Hazlewoods buried all over North Alabama and Tennessee. Send me an e-mail with phone number if you wish and I'll get in touch.

This is taken from a narative written by my husband's Grandmother Ethel Sarah (McClellan) HASELWOOD:
"Henry Newt HASELWOOD, son of Thomas and Nancy (GASKILL) HASELWOOD, was born 1 November 1847 in Kentucky and died at Eureka Springs, Arkansas 14 November 1914. Martha, daughter of Euell and Rebeccas BEAGLE, was born near Williamstown, Kentucky 9 March 1848 and died at the home of her daughter, Eva WAGGLE, at Osborne, Kansas. Both were buried at Glasco, Kansas. She died 14 November 1929. They were married 6 January 1870 in Kentucky, had two children there, Edgar and Ettie. They went to Illinois..."

Thomas and Nancy had eight chidren: John, Jim, Robert, William, Alvin, two daughters and our great-granddad, Henry Newt HASELWOOD. The census records do not confirm this information as being accurate, so am trying to verify the name of Henry Newt's natural mother. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Very willing to share anything I have that may help you.

Dear Amy:

This may be a long shot for both of us because the name Haselwood is not so common.
I have some Hassalwoods(note difference in spelling). The information I have derives from death certificates of Elizabeth Hassalwood Middleton who died on 3/16/1923 in Watertown, Mass. The certificate shows her father to be Joseph Hassalwood b. abt. 1815-20 in Boston(Lincolnshire), England. His wife was named Kitty Walker Hassalwood. Their daughter was, I think, my great aunt, Elizabeth Hassalwood Middleton born April, 1840 in Liverpoo, England. Her husband was named Thomas Middleton.
My great aunt's sister may have been my great grandmother Maria(Hassalwood?) Hammond born in England in 1853. The town in England may have been Perth. She married a man named John Hammond in North Carolina.
I am not positive about all of this but in event it might help us, I send it to you.
Respectfully, Claude D. Davis E-Mail--cdd31fay@aol.com Fax--(1512) 263-7963

Hope to hear from you.

Hassalwood/Haselwood/Hazlewood

I am still looking for Joseph Hassalwood born in Boston, England and his wife, Kitty Walker, born in Leek, Staffordshire, England.

Kitty Walker Hassalwood's first name is probably "Catherine." I am fairly certain, judging form info recently sent me by a relative, that she was in Montreal, Canada and died there in 1886. Catherine(Kitty)Walker Hassalwood and her husband, Joseph had at least one child whose name was Elizabeth. Elizabeth married Thomas Middleton who was also born in Liverpool, England. Thomas Middleton died prior to 1923. His widow, Elizabeth (Hassalwood) Middleton, died in 1923 in Watertown, Massachusetts and was buried in East Kirkwood, Missouri.

Elizabeth(Hassalwood) and her husband, Thomas Middleton had a child, Percy Howe Middleton, an engineer in Boston, Mass. He died in 1964 Wellesley Hills, Mass. His attorney was a Leonard Clark of Boston.

Appreciate any info on these people.
