Looking for Newton HATCH who was born about 1798 in Coventry, Tolland,Connecticut. The Hatch book says that he died in Georgia, but I am not sure that this is right. He was some kind of sailor and died about 1829. He married Margaret Ann JOHNSON about 1825 and we think that this was in Cape May, New Jersey.
Cheryl C.
Did you check the Hatch book (Genealogy and History of the Hatch Family)? Dan is listed (#135, starts on page 146) and four of his sons are followed farther and some information is given about the daughters. Are you looking for a specific line?

Lots of years later, but here is my question. Looking for info on Barnabas Hatch 1802-abt 1860. His first wife Polly is buried in the South Grove Cemetery in DeKalb County, IL. From what I can tell most of his children were born in Ohio. Do you have information on this Barnabas as I then find him in Sauk County WI with his brother Jonathan and then he disappears. His siblings as I know them at this point are: Jonathan 1793-1879; died in Sauk County, WI; Nathaniel 1792-1860 died in Iowa County, Wisconsin; Waterman 1801-aft 1870 unknown; Alfred 1804-1876 died in Ohio.
Barnabas Children: as far as I know: Nathan 1829-1902; Lucy 1825-1863 died in DeKalb County; married Henry Harrison Barber; Sherman 1827-1893 died in Oregon; married and divorced Mary Elizabeth Worden; had one son William Sherman who was raised by Mary and Henry Mace; Mary Elizabeth 1832-1881 married to Augustus Thompson in DeKalb County,IL; Jonathan 1838-1892 died in Ohio; married to Lenora Blain; Elzey 1846-1922 married Elizabeth Hollingshead; buried in South Grove Cemetery,DeKalb county,IL.
If any of this is in line with who you have from DeKalb...please contact me. Thanks for reading.

I just discovered that the mother of one of my ancesters was an Anne Hatch, living in the parish of Collon, Cty Louth in 1821. The info I have is from a baptism record of my third great grandmother, Catherine McCabe. Her father is listed as John McCabe and mother as Anne Hatch and the baptism took place on 26 Nov 1821. Is she someone you have any info about?

Thanks.

The book "Genealogy & History of The Hatch Family", on page 148, lists Harlan as the 12th and last child of Dan and Lucy, born 16 Sep 1804. Unfortunately the book does not give any supporting sources. I could find only Dan and Lucy's first three children in the Barbour Collection of Connecticut Vital Records. Two possibilities come to mind: either the other nine children listed in the book are not their children or the couple neglected to register the births of the rest of their children. The book is known to have errors, but a closer look at the actual records in Tolland would be a good idea.

Hello Nicola

Thank you for your patience and help. I have discovered that Mary was Catholic and on looking closer at her death certificate no father is given and mother is named as Mary Hatch so unless this is a typo it may be that my Mary was the illegitimate daughter of another Mary Hatch. I will chase this up and would also appreciate it if you could help throw light on it. This may explain why there are no leads and the family name is not that common. This may also explain why she was so alone in the world.

REgards

Wendy

I have since discovered that Mary Hatch was part of the "Excessive Female Emigration" to South Australia on 1855. This almost certainly means she came from a workhouse in Louth. I would love to hear from any other Hatch researchers that have a family of that time who were badly affected by poverty. Perhaps other members of the family went to the US or Canada.
Many thanks

Wendy

This is 10 years later than the post I find in Ans.com
I have been looking for a break through here for at least that long. They are my Gr-Gr Grandparents.

Dave Parker - Walter Parker - Charles A Parker & Violetta A Pemberton - Wm John Pemberton - Peter Pemberton & Henrietta Hatch.

I have made no real progress and I know God didn't just drop them off in Levis, Quebec and say, "You two are on your own, go have fun".

I have not been able to find a Peter Pemberton [born in Scotland] birth record or census record.

I spent 15 hours one night looking through every Hatch in the 1841 and 1851 census and only got two possiblities but those Henriettas had the wrong birth years. [Looked at each family household seperately]

Have you had any luck? The only thing I have found is a Pemberton Valley in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland, and I can't even find [so far] why that valley was named Pemberton Valley
I will need your mailing address to send you an invitation and then I can send you an invitation to our family reunion for next year if you'd like to come.
Geraldine should be there, some of Elwood (Bud)Hatch's family came last year and a few more came this past reunion. Our next one will probably be the last Sunday in August, that's the day we've had it on the last several years.
I really am interested in getting to know family members that I've never met. A little about myself, I will be 58 in December, I'm married to my high school sweetheart going on 40 years now. I had 2 children, lost our oldest to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1996. Our youngest child, a daughter, lives in Huntingdon with her 4 children, ranging in age from 13 to just turned 1 in August. Well, I guess I need to go, the youngest grandbaby in cleaning out his mom's cabinets. Talk to you later, Vickie

My grandmother Dessa Hatch died when my mother was 7 years old and she went to foster homes after that, so I don't know anyone from that side of my family, except one of my aunts, Lena and her family.
