Haug from Stuttgart to New Jersey

My gggm, Anna Maria HAUK/HAUG, (b. 1827 in Baden, d. 1902 in Newark, NJ) married Friderich SCHAAN (1826-1901). In 1851, their son, Wilhelm was 2 years old, and came to the US Catharine HAUG, presumably his maternal grandmother; she was born in 1792. I am trying to trace back her history, her husband and her parents, etc. I have found in FamilySearch.org a Christiana Katharina SCHOENGAR (born 03 Nov 1792) who was born in Stuttgart. She marriedd Johann Friderich HAUG (born 03 Feb 1797), and he was born in "Hohen Aspag," which location I cannot find. Perhaps it is Asperg, not far from Stuttgart? I have also found her Ancestral File record giving her death date as 04 May 1854 in Stuttgart. I have no indication she returned to Germany, nor do I know if she is the mother of my ggm. Does anyone have any ideas or information to share?

Thanks for the comeback. I agree that my Haugs were of Catholic faith. I do have a John Baptist in the line we're following. Also he had a cousin with the same name. Our John Baptist was born 1842, Wurmlingen & died in Seneca, Kansas, USA. JB had 20 children of which 12 of them came to USA.
jessemc

Sindelfingen, Darmsheim and Duerrmenz are protestant places in Wuerttemberg, whereas your HAUG appear to come from Hirschau and Wurmlingen, which are in the catholic area around Rottenburg. I have seen a Johann Baptist HAUG on familysearch.org. You can look up these places on Google Maps for example. It is unlikely that these two HAUG lines are connected. The name HAUG is thought to stem from Hug or Hugo, a germanic first name, the surname is not uncommon in Southern Germany.

Olaf Haug came to Solor Township fra Grafton, North Dakota in 1898 in company with his brothers: Peter and Theo Haug. They took homestead claims close to one another in what became known as the Haug community in Solor. He became an auctioneer and insurance agent, as well as a farmer.

His first wife, Nellie, passed away in 1904. They had three sons: Oliver, Elmer and Martin. He was later married to Emma MELDAHL. Their children were: Mabel Haug HALL,
Olaf, George and Lawrence.

O.E. Haug was a very community-minded man. He gave a parcel of land to Oiland Congregation for a building site for the church and for the cemetery. He was often in the forefront when things needed to be done.

O.E. Haug passed away in 1966.

*I am not related to the above persons. Thank you.

Joseph Haug married Rosalia Duffner in Germany I don't have the marriage place on me started with Grossle......I know its around Hohenzollern,Hechingen, Baden all that area and I think it was in 1813 I know they had children:
Nicolas, Sophia,Benard,Adelbert, not sure of the other names material not here with me. But NIcolas was born around 1822 or so. Not sure of Joseph's siblings or parents. Would like to find the connection. I have done dna and my sons with smgf . org so our Haug line will be on that site. Its free if you want to see what Haugs you are related too. Val

Hello,
I am trying with no luck to find any information on my great grandparents. I am 99% sure her name is Catherine Huag who died in 1978 and born around 1890. She died in youngstown. I have a picture of my grandfather that said his name was otto herbert haug born july 31, 1886 and died in may of 1928. My grandmother's name is Rose Marie Mayfield, their daughter. She married Charles Ernest Mayfield in 1941. She was born in 1919 but unfortunately do to medical problems and being 89 years old, she can't even remember her parents names. I am pretty sure my grandmother, Rose, was born in Youngstown, but not 100% sure. Anyone with any information or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Mitchell, Would you happen to plan to visit Brussells this year? Have a request if so. It may help both of us.
Could you check on a home stead about 1/2 mile south of St. Matthew's. I know that isn't much help. But it is the old homestead of my Great Grandfather August Krause. He bought it from a Fred Kinder in 1887. I believe it may be owned by a person by the name of Hager ??. I didn't know of it until 3/4 years ago. It was still there at that time. I have been trying to get a picture of it ever since. Elmer and Leona Krause Kinder lived there until 1995. I would deeply appriciate it if you are any of your relatives know of this homestead and could get a picture of it. Nancy
I do not have your Kinder's in my Kinder list or in the Kinder cemetery. There is a marriage date in the Calhoun County Courthouse on film #1305044-1305045 for Christian and Sarah on May 15, 1884. Perhaps if you can get a copy of that you may get her parents names. They are also in the 1930 census w/Edward 19, Benjamin 17, and Selma 8. Immigration 1882. In 1930 there is a census for Edward and wife Lizza and Velma 16, Herbert 13, Clifford 10, and Vera 7. If you don't already have this info. I hope it will help some. Did they live around Brussels? If so, try St. Matthews church. I thought I had a cemetery list but I couldn't find it.

My grandfather was Charles Haug .his parents came from Germany in 1854. to Wilmington,Delaware Heinrick Haug (Hugg) 1827 he was from Baden and Wilhemina also used Emma,(looking for her maiden name) 1833 she was from Wurtenberg .he had a brother Jacob and I think his father,s name was Jacob. they moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1900,to work is the ship building field. they changed the name to Houck .I never found any connection to Illinois in any of my research, I am going to continue the research to Germany next. I would be interested ,if there is any connection. Thank you.

My surname is Haug and I've done a bit of tracing back on my ancestors. We would be considered the Illinois Haugs. If you would like the information I've gathered just let me know.

I am looking for information on Gunnerius/Gunder/Gilbert Halvorsen, born in 1839 in Norway, who immigrated to the US in about 1869 and settled in Minnesota. Could he be one of Gunder's children? I have no information, other than guesses, about Gilbert's past.
