The last one I can determine (Moses Elsemore 1760-1842) resided in Machias, Maine, US. He was married to Lydia Andrews (1769-1855). Prior to that I am not sure - though there are records in Virginia and the Carolinas, but I am not sure how they are related.

Have been researching the Elsemores from Washington County,Maine.......back to Moses and his father, William, but have not been able to go beyond to England. My great, grandfather was William H. Elsemore. Elsemore has been spelled Ellsmore, Elsemore, Elsmore.......in my research.
Very interested in learning more about our ancestry.

We have been in touch before about a Charles Hawdon but there was no link there. (Possibly there is one before 1640).
However, as both myself and my wife were born and brought up in the Forest of Dean, we both have links with many Forest families including the Elsmores, Astons, Prices,Pages,and especially the Carters.
My wifes great Granny Sophia Morse 1864 had a brother Richard 1850 who married a Lucy Elsmore 1854, Daughter of Edwin Elsmore 1825.

How are you linked to the Elsmores and more so the Carters?.

My name is Dave Hawdon and most of my ancestors came from the North East, Gateshead, Newcastle area. None from Stcokton as far as I can tell.
I have gone back to 1640 and was wondering if there is a possible link between us somewhere down the line?.

Samantha, when you said the date married, I assume you meant 1875? I am from SSM, Ontario and I know many of my relatives lived on St. Joe's Island. Hope this helps.

Hi, I figure we might be connected. I am descended from Helen Mabel Hawdon (born June 27, 1889 - Died December 15, 1937), who married John Charles Caufield (Born May 24th, 1876 - Died May 8th, 1962). They had 4 children, my grandmother Blanche Caroline Caufield (later Patterson after marrying Claude Hubert Patterson), Wesley Whitfield Caufield, Harold David Caufield (died at the age of 8 by drowning), and Arnold Charles Caufield.

My name is David Hawdon, but before you get excited I don't think I have a connection with Charles William Hawdon born 1850. As the name Hawdon is quite unusual I was wonderng how far back you have managed to research.
I can go back as far as a John Hawdon 1640 born in Whickham North England near Newcastle. Do your ancestors come from hte North of England?
If you think that we may have a connection somewhere in the past I would love to hear from you.

Hi, my name is Samantha Hawdon (Ontario, Canada). I am descended from Charles William Hawdon, born in London, England on Nov 13 1850 and died in St Joseph Island, Ontario, Canada on September 15, 1935.

He married Isabella Margaret Lampman on January 1, 1975 in Oxford, Ontario, Canada and they had 5 children (Anne Elisa, Lottie, Peter Crozier, William Edward, and Helen Mabel).

His parents were John Crozier and Eliza Francis Hawdon.

Hawdon-Thirlwell-Marshall

In 1818, a family group consisting of people named Hawdon,
Thirlwell and Marshall, from Durham, England, emigrated to the U.S.
The family story goes that they landed in Quebec, then went down the lakes
to the Allegheny(?) River and wound up in Pittsburgh, PA. Some of
them stayed in that area, some went on to Ohio (Marshall) and the
Thirlwell's, after a short stay in Cincinnatti, went on to Louisville,
KY. Looking for descendents of any of these families. In 1941, a letter
was sent to all the Louisville Thirlwell family members from Herbert C.
Marshall of Washington, D.C. He said he was descended from the Marshall
family that went to Ohio. Unfortunately, none of the Thirlwell's answered
the letter, but they kept it, and eventually I got a copy.
