Dear Thomas,

Now that Wendy has found Thomas John HAWKE's marr to Esther HUTCHINSON in 1896 (sorry I hadn't looked that far back!) I find I have his tree already done back to Robert HOCK who married Mary Ann UNK and had a son Richard in 1833 in Tywardreath, CON. He travelled to Northumberland, where he married Catherine SEYMOUR on 22 Jan 1866, then to Ireland, then ending up in Burnley, where Thomas John was born in 1874.

I am happy to share the tree with you if you contact me on hawke@one-name.org

Best wishes, Jenny

Dear Thomas,

I am sorry, I do not have any records that fit with what you have told me, and I have tried HAWKES and HAWK as well. Your father's birth is registered in Burnley in the 2nd quarter of 1919, with his mother nee HUTCHINSON - but I cannot find his parent's marriage. If you have any other information that you think might help, please get back to me on hawke@one-name.org and I will try again.

Best wishes, Jenny

I have a tree for Lord Hawke of Towton and his descendants. I think the one you want will be the 2nd Lord, Martin Bladen, who received the peerage in 1781 and died in 1805. He lived in Hampshire and was a MP for Saltash, CON. He was succeeded by his son Edward Harvey. I have no information on Col Robert Kelly in relation to the Hawkes, but there are a couple of TNA references to him.
Please contact me at hawke@one-name.org for further details.

None really had a date of death or a burial location which was why I was asking

Her birth date is 10-13-1711 in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts The birthplace appears to be in dispute among some researchers.

I can add a little about Mary Ellen HAWKE, b. 1852 in Gwennap, Cornwall (reg'n. info: Redruth Vol 5c Page 236 Qtr 3)to John HAWKE and Ellen Skinnner HAM (b abt 1831), who married in 1849 (reg'n: Redruth Vol 9, Page 263 Qtr 3). They had other children: John Charles b. 1853 and James b. 1858, also in Gwennap. Ellen and the children are in the 1861 census in Gwennap, Ellen shown as married and a farmer. No sign of father John. Does anyone know approx year John was born? If so, I may be able to find his parents.

I am trying to research the HAWKE family from Lezant. John Hawke was born abt 1765. One of his children Richard Hawke b 1802 Linkinhorne married Jenipher Pollard in Roche. Their daughter Charlotte married Joesph Growden. Richard died in St Germans in the 1860s and had another daughter to someone else (an Ann) who was conceived in Kent (her name was Henrietta). Would really like to hear from anyone else who may be researching this line.

new e- mail and queries

HI, All you Rodery's and descendants. Have been out of the loop for awhile, but I'M baacckk! Note new e-mail, please.
Also have a couple questions.. Does anybody know who had John Georges' Civil War records? I have copies, but no one seems to know which of his relatives or children had them and then shared with the rest of us! I was told last year that the "iodine stained silk handkerchief" was with the records.
I still would like to know who Calvins' first wife was. I think she would was the mother of Elmira (Jane), or Jane and John George . I have a copy of the 1840 Cape Giradeau Co.,town of Union, census which lists Calvin, wife and 2 daughters, but wife is not named. Both girls were under 5 years old.
Since Calvin and Charlotte were married in 1848 ( Henry C. TN.) she cannot be the childrens mother. In addition John George was born in 1842- so does anyone have the answer?
Thanks, Beverly Rodery Reagan

Since posting my last message I have found some more details about Richard Hawke. He was born in 1838. His parents were Richard Hawke and Maria (nee Parr). They emigrated to Australia in approx 1840 where they had 3 girls. Richard married Elizabeth Hart in 1867 Hartley and they settled around Mudgee then Bathurst. He died in 1887 and is buried at Bathurst Cemetery.
I suspect that there was other family around other than his sisters- from family stories that I've heard. My grandmother had cousins living near her that were Hawkes, especially in Molong.

Recorded on his marker was: his name, "California Wagoner, 81 Infantry, 16 Division, W.W. I. Mar. 17, 1888 Mar. 17 1953. Also there were two other Hawkes: Arthur amd Lloyd. It appears that Arthur was the father and Reginald and Lloyd were brothers. For further observations and information refer to the message given to Mary Harrelson.
Today I visited the grave sites of: Arthur Hawke, Reginald Arthur Hawke and Lloyd Hawke at the City Cemetery at Chinese Camp, CA.
The stones read:
Arthur Hawke, Died Jan. 23, 1904 Aged 46 years Native of England and the stone had the Masonic emblem and the words In my Fathers house there are many mansions.

The stone for Reginald Arthur Hawke read: "California Wagoner, 81 Infantry, 16 Division, WW I, Mar. 17, 1888, Mar. 17, 1953.

Lloyd Hawke's stone just had his name and the dates, 1898-1951.

I checked the California Death Records and found: nothing for Arthur as he died before the date for computerized data;

Reginald's last name was spelled Hawk and showed that he was born 3-17-1888, mo. Benetto, d. San Joaquin, 3-17-1953.

Lloyd's middle name was listed as "Scottie" and he was born 10-23-1898 in California of Benitto. He died 4-28-1951 in Tuo. County.

That makes Reginald and Lloyd brothers and probably sons of Arthur Hawke.

Gladys Geraty-Hawke is in an unmarked grave next to her former husband, Reginald (personal knowledge. She was my aunt). I hope this information helps answer some of your questions.
