Hello. Though it is fascinating to think that ALL the Haygarths are related [and they probably are somehow],
I don't think there is any direct link with my husband's immediate family. There is a very old bible in the family which shows my husband's branch of the Haygarths as follows:

Thomas Haygarth
ca. 1520
Dent (Chappell)

William Haygarth
ca. 1550
Dent (Chappell)

Thomas Haygarth
ca. 1580
Dent (Chappell)

[gap]

Matthew Haygarth m. Isabel Holme
ca. 1663 ca. 1750
Dent

[gap]

Matthew Haygarth m. Ann Handley
ca. 1726 ca. 1780
Garsdale Pinfold

John Haygarth m. Lydia Fishwick
1801 ca. 1799
Garsdale Casterton, Westmorland

Thomas Haygarth m. Margaret Thompson
1829 ca. 1882
Garsdale

John Haygarth m. Jane Wilkinson
1855 - 1927 1865 - 1920
Sedbergh Witton Park

Their children were:

Jennie Haygarth
Edith Haygarth
Thomas William Haygarth
John Edward Haygarth
Elizabeth Haygarth
all born in County Durham

Jennie Haygarth is the mother of my husband.

I have verified these through the Mormons database. But it has been some time since I worked very diligently on this and I am a bit foggy. I will check out your Samuel again, and see.

Thanks for the message.
Hello

noticed your posting for samuel Haygarth. I have a family of Haygarths who lived in Garsdale as opposed to Dent. My line includes John Haygarth b 1806 married Margaret (Peggy) Harper. John's father was James b 1778. I have lots on Haygarths in Dent but I cannot make a link to Garsdale. Do you think that we are linked?

westsmith

Chris,

I don't have a lead on your marriage, but I can refer you to an earlier one, the marriage of Matthew Haygarth(1639-1718) to Elizabeth Hodgson( -1716). These families lived in Garsdale, but might have also lived in Dent. Matthew and Elizabeth had a son(if not many) Thomas Haygarth(1683-1762) who married Elizabeth Thistlethwaite( -1761).
As Haygarth and Hodgson were common family names in the Dent/Garsdale area, along with Burton, Sedgwick, Thistlethwaite, Dawson, Capstick, you will probably find these names popping up in several generations.
regards Crichton Burton ( one of those Dent descendants).

I also am researching the Haygarths and have found a Thomas born 1836 in Halbegh(census spelling)York. He was married to Rebecca Mort born 1839 in Tranmere Cheshire. His father was Thomas (no birth date) and he was married to Elizabeth Agnes. Thomas and Rebecca raised their family in Tranmere (1881 census) These are my great grandparents. Perhaps this can add to what you already have if indeed it's the same family.
Carol
