Re: Looking for info on William Henry Haynes

Hello Don,

My name is Galen Barrow and I live in Haralson County, Georgia. I apologize for sending this to you seven years after you first posted your inquiry, but I just now saw it. I'm sure you've probably already attained this information since 2005 but in case you haven't I'll send it to you. William Henry Haynes was my great grandfather on my mother's side. I've been trying to research her line and have run into some of the same roadblocks that you have. However, I do have a little information for you.

William Henry Haynes was born in Georgia on July 2, 1875, and died, in Carroll County, Georgia on August 23, 1956. His wife's name was Rhoda Lelabell Walker (March 20, 1881-July 9, 1960). She was born in Alabama and died in Carroll County, Georgia. They are both buried at Liberty Methodist Church in the Lowell/Clem area of Carroll County.

I don't have a lot more information on William Henry Haynes from that point except that I do know his mother's name was Martha (I don't have a maiden name) and that she and her father were both born in Georgia. Her mother was born in Alabama. Martha was born around 1853. I got all this information from the 1920 U.S. Census. At that time she was living in the household of William and his family in the community of Lowell.

As for Rhoda, her parents were John Heflin Walker (July 4, 1849 - 1914) and Louisa Johnson (October 1856-1923). They were both born in Alabama and died in Carroll County, Georgia. Like William and Rhoda, they are both buried at Liberty Methodist Church in the Lowell/Clem community of Carroll County.

In my family it has been believed that William was at least part indian, if not fullblood. If that is true that may be why it's hard to find any information. My next step is to see if I can find a death certificate on William. If I can I believe it would give his parents name.

I have pictures of William, Rhoda, John and Louisa if you're interested.

I hope this helps!

Good luck,

Galen

I found this file while researching my family and the focus is on your (possible) family instead referring to a Haynes line in the states of Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, etc. There is a society called the Tipton-Haynes Historical Association which has requested contact from Haynes family members. You can google their website, follow them on facebook or follow this link: www.tipton-haynes.org/. There's some good Haynes genealogy in a publication called Ansearchin in the 1989 publication as a free .pdf at this URL on pgs. 57-58: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:-fKqS426SQAJ:....
My name is Carolyn Haynes Nelson ,(Terri Nelson Borden) is my daughter) I just read your post. For any one else reading this. William Luther Haynes (born June 1923) was my father . My mothers maiden name was Eulah Marie Tinnel, not Walker. Walker was my grandmothers Maiden name!! I still dont know where or what has happened to my father. I did find my Grandfather's death certificate "Walter Lewis Haynes". Walters parents were listed as William Luther Haynes SR and Marideith Berry! Walter was born In Boise,Idaho in 1887 so I know his parents were probably born abt 1868 at the earliest. They are very elusive, of course Marrideith could be her middle name & like my father who always was known only as Luther by his friends. BTW Boise was not town named, It was written " Boyd,Idaho" I checked there is no town of Boyd in Idaho!! They all have strong roots in Clay county, WV and My father was born there.Information on any one of these People is needed! Thanks, carolyn Nelson

From a site online, I find that Wilkes County, NC's Aaron Canady names in his 1845 will daughter Jane Roberts. This fits my increasingly favorite theory that Sarah Jane Canady, married ? Hains, had a child Miles Haynes; ? Hains dies young and Sarah Jane Hains marries Thomas Roberts.
They remove to TN and have children. Thomas was the brother of Sarah Roberts who married John Hanes. These people are all in Wilkes County, NC in the 1790-1822 era.
In 1802 Aaron Canady entered a deed adjacent of John Poe. In 1816 Aaron Canady and Raleigh Poe are named administors of Joel Cannady, decd will. In 1816 Sarah Poe m Joseph Hinds(is this Hines/Hanes).
Aaron Canady's will also named his grandson Harrison Haines. Harrison does not seem to be a child of Aly Canaday Haynes and Abram.

Elizabeth Jean Haynes

I am looking for information on my grandmother. She was born Betty Jean Haynes, November 16th 1931 in or around Memphis Tennessee. She changed her name to Elizabeth Jean when she married my grandfather, Richard Arthur Pleffner in 1948. I know that her mothers name was Catherine and she had a brother named Joseph. I was told that her fathers name was Adrienne, however he could have been her stepfather.
She died when i was about 2 (sometime between 1987-1989) and was buried at Arlington National Cemetary. I have searched just about everywhere i can think of and still no luck. Any information would be greatly appriciated.

Hi Brooke

My name is James Arthur Fields and I am a Haynes on my mother's side. My grandparents were Edna Haynes and Fred Wilbur, great grandparents Robert E. Haynes and Lida Stark, great great grandparents Robert Patterson Haynes and Elizabeth Darst.

I think that makes us 4th cousins once removed!

I grew up in southern California where my great grandparents moved in the late 1920s and where my grandparents followed from Idaho where my mother was born. I currently reside in Austin, TX.

Do you have any information on Robert P. Haynes' lineage? I'm fairly new to this so it's very exciting.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Take care,

jim
Hi I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to do a look up on John Haynes and Mary Figgus married 15 Jan 1810 in St Clement Danes, Westminster, London, Eng. I am wondering if it tells any other info apart from there names and where they were married. I don't know where they were both born or any parents of these two people. Hoping to further my knowledge of them both. They seem to have moved around a lot as one daughter was supposedly born in Windsor, Berkshire, who married in Buckinghamshire, the other born in Buckinghamshire who married in St Pancras, Middlesex! Some records show them as Haines some as Haynes. Mary is also known as Figgis or Figgus.

Cheers
Dawnie

Now William Henry was born in Hoosick, Rensselaer County, New York in 1813, but we don't know specifically where our Nicholas was born.
2 things to note:
1. in the letter Achsah refers to everyone as Brother and Sister (we think it's a Quaker/Friends thing). 2. The letter was written 1898!

I volunteer at a genealogy library every week and whenever I see any spelling of HINDS, HAINES, HINES, HAYNES I copy the information down. My Hinds research is mainly in the south-TN, VA, SC, NC, GA,

I am not sure if this will be of any help but I am a Haynes. I found I may be linked to Sir Robert and Richard just recently through www.geni.com It says the info is from UK Probate Records. If you look up Robert Innermarky Haines Innes, there is a curator for him on the geni site. Just today, I emailed my info to the Curator to see if and how I might be connected to Robert and if there was any other info she could give me. Maybe she could help you.

I realize this is a very old post but here goes. I have a Hannah Haynes born in 1858 in or around Clinton County, IN. She was the youngest of five children born to my ggrandfather John T Haynes b: 1824 in NY and Marietta Campbell. They were married in 1846 in Clinton County, IN. She apparently died about the time of Hannah's birth. The other four children were all boys. Marietta and JT are in the 1850 Census and in the 1860 Census he is a widower. In 1862 JT and the oldest boy David (only 14) enlisted in Remington County in Company I, 79 IN Inf. I dont know exactly what happened to the other boys. In 1865 he married my ggrandmother Susan G Waldron and Hannah is there in the 1870 census with their two young sons. I have no trace of after that but have not done much searching on her. If you have any more questions feel free to contact me. The other children were David, Charles, James and Leander. Hope this helps you and is your Annie.
Barbara Haynes

I saw this post some time back and also saw my nephew Kevin answered you. In fact at first I thought the original post was from him. Just a note of interest in case you did not know, John T Haynes was my ggrandfather and Marietta was his first wife. This marriage took place in Clinton County, Indiana, not MO. He lived in Clinton County at that time and later moved to White County, IN where he married Susan G Waldron in 1865. His first wife died about 1858. If you see any connection to our JT please let us know. He was born in NY.
Barbara

Does the name John T Haynes of NY ring any bells with you? He was born in NY in 1824. He was in Clinton county, Indiana in 1850 but I dont know when he left NY or where in NY he was born. Let me know if you have any information please. If they are of the same family check on Indiana in 1860 census and see if you find him.
Good luck
Barbara

Re: New York Haynes; bro's Nicholas and Henry W.H. Haynes

Do you have any information as to where in NY your Haynes brothers were born. I also am trying to find family information on my ggrandfather John T Haynes, we think the T stood for Tilford. He was born in NY in 1822. We can trace him back till 1850 in Stokes, Madison, Ohio where he was married to Marietta Campbell. Apparently she died after the youngest of five children was born in 1858 (Hannah). In the 1860 census he is a widower with four boys and one daughter. He along with his oldest son (David) enlisted in the civil war together in Indiana. He remarried in 1865 to Susan G Waldron. He is in the 1870 with Hannah still living with he and Susan and two sons. In 1880 he is in Stockton, Rooks, Kansas. He died in 1903 after returning to Tippecanoe, Indiana. Try following his trail and if they are indeed brothers you might find them nearby. I remember runniing across a Henry Haynes but not a Nicholas. Let me know if you have any information about the NY connection.
Good hunting.
Barbara
Good hunting.
