Tom, You must be Jack's brother. He gave me lots of data that Dory did. Have you found the month in 1830 that they left England and from where?

I have noticed that some have the death year at 15 sept 1765 for Susanna.the death recorded in Dorset, England, Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812 Record for Susanna Hayter. Melbury Abbas > 1760-1769 > p7 is for an infant it reads exactly "Sept 18 Buried Susanna Hayter an infant"

However further down the same page it lists the Baptism on 27 Aug 1777 of William son of William & Lydia Hayter

Grace was 6th child of William Hayter and Ann Sutton (my 6*Gt Grandparents). I don't have much further information about her or James, but plenty about her parents and their other offspring. Can you advise details of the known children of Grace.

Stpehen Hayter was about 54 when he married Eglah in 1902. He had been a signalman at Holmsley Station (near Burley, where he was born). He had 7 chilren that I know of with hisfirst wife, Sarah Diane Elcock between 1878 and 1887. Sarah died in 1893 and by 1901 Stephen and four of his children had moved to Canford Magna, Poole where he was employed as a railway warehouseman by the LSWR. Stephen died in 1933, but I have no details of what happened to him between 1912 and his death, or of his various children.

Stephen was a 3rd cousin (3 times removed) of mine, Hayter being my paternal Grandmother's maiden name.

I would like to let you and everyone know the spelling on "Lillie May Hayter" name is not correct. My husband is Lillie's great-grandson. My husband, as well his father, sisters and brother have stated everyone is not spelling her middle name correct. Everyone seems to spell it "May", the correct spelling is "Mae". I would like to let everyone know the correct spelling. Thanks!

Nicola, I too am looking for information on this Lady. I have SOME VERY flimsy information she MAY be a sister to my 2nd great Grandmother.
Have a look at the Keziah Hayter in my Hedger Family Tree the dates are right AND she has a niece of the same name.
HOWEVER is she Kezia ELIZABETH Hayter? I cannot answer this.
Her sister Henrietta emmigrated to South Australia as did Kezia ELIZABETH.
Kezia ELIZABETH's husband Charles Ferguson was a "toff" well educated, with a responsible Government appointment.
Henrietta's husband was an agricultural worker and later a miner at Broken Hill New South Wales.
In the 1800's I DON'T THINK so.
I would be VERY interested in your opinion
Incidentally have you seen the web site about Charles and Kezia ELIZABETH Ferguson

I'm looking for Hayter family related to Joseph and Bridget Hayter my ggrandparents and Robert Aaron and Jennie Hayter my grandparents. Joseph and Bridget had 7 children, Robert being one of them. Robert had 3 sons Joseph, Robert Benson (my father)and Donald. There were many Hayter relatives living in the area back in the 40's and 50's but it seems that they all moved away. I recently went to the St Peters Cemetary in New Brunswick to find head stones and the only names I could find were Robert A Hayter 1893-1936, Mary F Hayter and Frances V Hayter both unknown to me. Hi: I know this is a very old post but I have the name Hayter in my family and I wonder if you know if Henry Hayter ever came to Canada. There is a marriage notice from the Toronto Herald newspaper in 1845 which reads: Apr. 28, 1845 at Cobourg, on Mon., 14th inst., Henry Hayter, eldest son of Lietenant Hayter, Royal Navy, to Mary Tobin, all of Cobourg. Rev. Charles Ruttan.

I don't know how much help I will be, since I'm pretty new to all of this, but my late grandfather, Robert Hayter, was from Michigan, though I'm not really sure where. Maybe Monroe? Anyway, I thought maybe since they're both from Michigan, they might be related somehow.

I'm trying to find out in family line of my mother. Her grandmother was Ida Mae Hayter and her great grandfather was William Madison Hayter. I read that you have the info and pictures from the William Madison Hayter line way back. If so, can you help me? So far, I have:

Their son George Albert was my Grandfather. William and Eliza arrived in NZ on 3 January 1865. Do you have any information on Eliza's mother? Great to hear from you.

My current family research project involves the Hayter, Potts, Butt, and Gould families from the Greater London area of England. I am looking for any information on Harry George Hayter, his father John Joseph Hayter, Nellie Potts, Ellen Rose Butt, and Alice May Gould. Also Nellie May Hayter,Edna Hayter, and Dorothea Hayter, daughters of Harry George Hayter and his wife Alice May Gould. The time frame is roughly from 1860 to the early 1900s. Harry George Hayter and his wife Alice May Gould came to Detroit, Michigan about 1925 and eventually to southern California by about 1956.

Any information or leads would be most appreciated.

I just started researching the Hayters
"Hadders". I have these Abrahams in my line.
My other family has these Abrahams in their tree.
I am trying to piece it all together.
My gggrandfather was George Hadder "Hayter", his
father was William, his father William the Abraham.
I hope I have this right.
My Hayters ended up in Pa,Va,Md,Ok,Mo.

Hi Diane, I haven't managed to find any more about John or Suzannah. I actually only found the Hale and Hayter web site a few months ago and was astounded at all the info, I had got back as far as John born c 1809 but obviously got alot more from there!! You have obviously done a lot of searching over the 6 year period.

I have this line back to John Hayter and Suzannah around 1690 but have failed to find any record of their births or marriage YET (after 6 years research).

I have John's Will and some of their childrens babtism records but suspect they came from "somewhere else" before having their later children in Melbury Abbas. Has anyone else got any info about John & Susannah? Everything i have is on the website.

Hi,

My 3x Great GrandMother married a Charles Hayter in Over Wallop when my 3x Great GrandFather Thomas Padwick died. I have done a little research into the Hayters but not a great deal as I am more interested in find out what happened to Martha and Charles after their wedding.

Here's what I do know... Charles Hayter was born in 1851 in Over Wallop, and he married Martha Padwick (nee Cann) on 23 April 1887 at the Parish Church. His father, I believe was Henry but I didn't record any further details about them, although from memory of my research into the Padwick's for a long time they had a Hayter family living next door in Kings Lane in Over Wallop. Charles was a lodger with Thomas and Martha Padwick's parents for a while and then with Thomas and Martha themselves. Then Thomas died and 3 years later he married Martha.

Does this help any? Do you know what happened to them after their marriage?

I know of two other Hayter books but one if of Missouri Hayters and one of those in Miss. or Ala. I recognize the names listed so you must be talking about mine.
