Yes, I have more of her ancestors, my notes and all generate a 44 page document for her ancestors -- lots are notes. Lydia Rightmire > Harrison Amy (Critchfield) Rightmire > James Elizabeth (Daugherty) Rightmire (VA or WV to OH about 1808). But I wasn't going to give you everything until I was sure you have the same Lydia. What file format do you want; I use Family Tree Maker 7.0
vee3@aol.com

I had asked about Lydia rightmire based on an earlier e-mail you sent someone named dianna Suarez that said "Hi Dianna,
Yes, I have Lydia Rightmire as Solomon's one and only wife from the results of my Dad's work. The most likely Susan I have would have been Solomon's sister. Does that make sense?"
vee3@aol.com

Thanks, that is a help. The Lydia rightmire i am interested in was born about 1843 in Ohio -- probably Knox county. Do you have any basis to guess that she might fit in this area and approximate age?

There is an extensive Headington genealogy. My part is the intermarriage of Headingtons and Dunaways in Ohio before they moved to the Decorah, Iowa region. As far as I know, the Headingtons go back to Baltimore, Maryland where they first came into this country; others may have the ancestry back to England. I will research out what I have and E-Mail the data to you. Bonnie Headington (the family genealogist) and Ed Headington have quite a bit of data too.
Floyd Dunaway

Thank you, Valerie, for all the additional information. I keep meaning to provide a more detailed reply and enter all your data in my database, but I am just not getting to it. I did want to thank you and respond to a couple of points.

First, I think it is so cool that Nellie's middle name is Bly! Where did you find that piece of information?

Second, in regard to the 1887 birth date for Nellie, I include it to be complete, but I am certain that it is wrong. It is what one would get from her age given in the 1930 census. I am guessing that she said that so she wouldn't appear to be older than her husband (I've run across that more than once before). But it is definitely her in that census, as she is with her second husband, A.E. MALLORY, who was my great aunt's stepfather.

Third, do you know who Benjamin HEADINGTON's father is?

Fourth, do you mind sharing your sources of information with me? I am especially curious where the "Bly" comes from. My sources can be found in my Worldconnect database at
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajramsay

Lastly, I will convey your email to my cousin, but I cannot guarantee that he will contact you. He's a bit eccentric and his interest fluctuates a great deal.

Thanks again and if I can get out from under things, I will post a more detailed response. Take care.
Alice

I have pages on this line...if you would like copies plus the address of the researcher who has done the most work on this line, e-mail me your snail mail address. I'm adding you to the Headington mailing list, if that's okay. Would love to see you next summer at the Decorah Headington reunion...

Hello - Iam researching my Marlow & Headington line back to my GGGrandparents, John Marlow (1762-1866) married to Elizabeth Headington (1794-1871) Both died in Winneshiek
Co. IA. I know that Elizabeths parents were Nathan Headington &, Keziah Gorsuch,
but know very little about their background. I believe that Keziah was born in Maryland
and there were many Gorsuchs, but cannot get her link. I believe that Nathans parents
were William Headington and Elizabeth Bosley, but would appreciate any information.

Ed, Your information sounds like we may be related. My great, great grandfather was Solomon Headington. He married Lydia Rightmire and had Charlie, Burr, Laura, Eva, George and Cora. We think he may have had a second wife, Susan. Laura, my great grandmother was born in Decorah, Iowa, Feb. 10, 1872. Laura married William Ira Goff. Do you have a Solomon Headington in your genealogy? Thanks much, Dianna

Ed, I got your second message and it seems that we are related. Solomon Headington was the nephew of your great, great grandfather. Solomon and Lydia had a daughter, Laura, who was my Dad's grandmother. She had a daughter, Hazel, born in Plainview, Nebraska. She grew up, married and lived in Montana where my Dad was born. It is my Mom's family that stayed in Decorah for many years. We still go there for her highschool reunions. I live in California. My Mom and her sisters came to California in 1943. So there you have it. It is interesting that my Mom and my Dad's grandmother were both born and raised in Decorah, Iowa. Thanks again, Dianna

Ed, this is wonderful news! I am so glad you were able to help us with this. I also have an 1880 census where Solomon Headington is listed with his children and a Susan Headington. His wife had been Lydia Rightmire. She is not listed and it seems that his sister is now living with them. Do you have a Lydia Rightmire listed as the spouse of Solomon Headington? I can give you Solomon's decendants if you are interested. Thanks so much, Dianna

Hi, I have an index of the 1870 Winnesheik County Census. I found 8 families of Headingtons living in Canoe Township. Among these are Benjamin B. and Louisa; Caroline; Elliot and Mary E.; Jacob and Martha J.; Jacob and Mary J.; James and Barbara; Rass and Annice; and Solomon and Lydia. Are these people all related? Also Solomon and Lydia had a daughter, Laura who married William I. Goff and moved to Plainview Nebraska to have her first child Hazel, my grandmother. It seem like there is a connection here. Any information you can share would be much appreciated. I am looking for Solomon's parents. Thanks, Dianna

Hi Dianna,
I agree we must be related somehow. Going through my Dad's genealogy though, I can't find Solomon.
My great grandfather was Jacob, born in 1840, and moved to Decorah in 1858. Jacob's father was James, born in 1811, and also moved to Decorah in 1858. Jame's father was Nathan, who was born before 1775,and moved to Ohio before 1832. Does any of this look familiar?

Where are you located now? I am in New Jersey. My father, Clifford, was born and raised in the Decorah area, and then moved to Philadelphia where I was born and raised. My wife and I have lived in New Jersey since 1972.
