Good Morning John,

Thank you so very much for your reply. However, in the years since having posted my quiry, I've learned a good deal more regarding my Healy/Haley's. Most unfortunately, I doubt our ancestors are one in the same.

I've sent info via your e addy.

Jeri Sullivan

The Andrew Hailey mentioned in your query died in Dalry Ayrshire Scotland in 1895. Andrew, Margaret and their 5 children from John to Jane appear in a copy of a census that I have. I was aware that some of Andrew's older children went to the USA. Andrew was the father of my g.grandmother Elizabeth Hailey, he married his second wife Catherine Hainey in Dalry in 1865 and they had the other children that you thought died.
Hmmmmm

I find this interesting...

my gr gr grandfather was Patrick Haley born 1796 Ireland.

He was married to a Mary born 1810 Ireland.

in the 1860 census of New York it shows 2 children:

Bridget 8 yrs.

Patrick 4 years

They also had living with them a Mary Haley that I assume is
Patrick "Sr." sister born 1806 Ireland. Patrick, mary and mary disappear after that. Only the kids show up in 1880 census.

Let me know if this is useful.

Happy hunting

Hello Veronica, We definately have the same ancestor. Marriage cert of John and Mary Mahoney, John's age given 26 on 23 Jul 1878. M/cert John and Kate M on 1 Sept 1886 John was 29& Kate 24. Birth cert of Daniel K, John was 45 on 30Dec 1901. John definately came out on Sepia 18 Jun 1875, he was stated as 21. Information from Dawn Murphy (daughter of Michael Mullins, kate's brother) is Kate definately came out with Father Michael, Mother Mary and Brother Michael, suposedly landed at Townsville. we may have to go to Qld Archives to check on this, hopefully did not arive in NSW. Dawn said they stayed in Family Home Hotel opposite the Townsville Railway Station. A lot of Kate M's and some Michaels have arrived in Qld. Kate M was known as Catherine in Joan's family and Joan's middle name is Catherine after Kate. Kate was called Catherine on her gravestone. We have notations from Qld Birth & marriages says she was Katherine Theresa Mullins, also from Charters Towers cemetry. also have photos of gravestones. John's stone lists his children. Also have the charcole photo of John and Catherine (Joan always calls her this).
Do you want to contact via email, jbbrowning@bigpond.com
Regards,
Bruce and Joan.

Margaret McCarthy's husband Michael Donoghue was born in Gortdromakierry. I have no idea what the connection could be to your Healy's. I would sure like to know if there is one! A lot of Healy's were mentioned in that obit.

I'm also trying to find an obit I have that mentioned a Julia Marie Healy as a cousin but I have so much I can't find it. She and I, along with a couple other descendants of Denis & Mary (Murphy) Healy (Tadhg who first posted this thread is who we are also working with. His grandmother was Helen & Bridget's sister and a great grand daughter of John Healy a brother of the before mentioned) are working together.
We have all of the 14 children (of which only 11 made it to adulthood) compiled.
Unfortunately my tree here on Ancestry has not been updated in years as I use another site.
We have a Margaret Healy (Another sister to Bridget, Helen & Julia) that married a Patrick McCarthy but she was not born until 1897.
There may very well be a connection but it would have to be back a generation or 2, if not more.
If it is ther ewe will find it at some point I hope.

Keith MacNeil

Maura,

I know nothing about Nora Healy McCarthy's parents. Her husband was Patrick McCarthy they married in 1856. I have an obituary for the grandson of Nora Healy McCarthy, a John F. Donoghue(son of Margaret McCarthy/Michael Donoghue). There were Healy's who gave flowers on that and one was the daughter of Denis and Mary Murphy, a Bridget McNeil. Also a Maria, Helen, John, Hannah and Patrick Healy as well followed the name of Mrs. Michael McNeil, they gave a heart of flowers. I have to assume they connect in some way given his grandmother was a Healy. I am also trying to figure out how Bridget Healy McNeil relates to the others as they all gave the flowers together.
I have not figured it all out. I do know Bridget McNeil was the daughter of a Denis and Mary Murphy, not sure if it's the same Denis and Mary you are seeking.

Helen

Helen,

Is it possible that Nora is related to the McCarthy that married Margaret Healy daughter of Denis Healy/Mary Murphy?
I can't seem to find ties to the McCarthy however I know it belongs within our line. I have an old calendar from 1970's in which my great great grandmother Helen (Healy) Harvey recorded a death of one Margaret McCarthy on 22 May 1983?

Maura

Hi Maura

While doing my research on the Healy family I found a Birth/Baptismal cert for a Cornelius Healy dated 8th June 1827. Address Dirriviclavoid in the Parish of Glenflesk. The correct spelling of the address should read as "Derrymaclavlode" His parents were Denis Healy & Margaret Murphy. I am not sure if this is the birth record of Cornelius Healy, father of Denis C Healy & children. I am still looking for a marriage cert for Cornelius Healy & Mary Sullivan Healy, possibly in 1854/55. These were famine years in Ireland and it is difficult to find out what parish they were married in.
I have no information on Mary Sullivan Healy and I have no photographs of any member of the Healy family.
Due to ill health I will not be doing any ancestry research for a few months.
I hope the above information is of help to you.
Kind Regards.
Mary.

Dear Mary,

I think I may have a connection to these Healy's after all. I am looking for information on Nora Healy McCarthy, she may have been the daughter of Cornelius/Mary Sullivan. She appears to be related to Denis Healy/Mary Murphy. Her grandson John Donoghue died in 1911 in Worcester and some of the Kilbrean Healy's are on the obit as "cousins". These would be some of the adult children of Denis/Mary Murphy. At the very least my Donoghue's are connected to your Healy's.

I would appreciate your data and any information you may have on Nora wife of Patrick McCarthy (married 1856). I think my Healy's were the witnesses at her marriage. they were Daniel Healy/Bartholomew Kerrisk.

My email is hdipilato@comcast.net.

Thank you,
Helen O'Brien DiPilato

Mary,

I appreciate all the information but I'm not related to this famiy. I replied to "Kiltady's" post because I had an obituary he may have been interested in, you are related to Kiltady.

Most of my Healy mysteries involve Kerrisk/Healy's born before 1840, none from Kilbrean that I know about to date.
I am interested in Healy Firies or Killeentierna connections. I was hoping for some kind of distant relationship but this does not appear to be the case.

Thanks for your offer.

Regards,
Helen
Hello

This is a message for "Helen" Re Denis C Healy Kilbrean Killarney Co Kerry.

I am the g/daughter of Mary Healy, sister of Denis Healy.
In researching my family tree I have found the information you are looking for. There is a lot of information to cover.
Lets talk about Denis Healy of Kilbreanbeg Killarney Co Kerry.
Denis Healy was born on 31 July 1858 to Cornelius Healy and Mary Sullivan Healy Ballyncarrig Killarney Co Kerry.
During those times in Ireland family's moved from area to area in search of work and food. Denis had a sister Julia born in 1856 and a brother John born in 1861 in the same area. There is a gap between 1861 and 1868. The family may have been in another area, I have not located that information as yet. In 1868 the family moved to Kilbrean, closer to a bigger town,Killarney where his sister Joanna Healy was born in 1868 in Kilbrean. In 1871 his twin sisters Mary & Catherine were born. I think the twin girls were the last. Mary Healy was my grandmother. Another long story for another time.
As there was another Denis Healy living in Kilbrean, our Denis Healy became known as Denis C. Healy.
He married Mary Murphy on 19th Feb 1876 in Kilbrean Killarney. They went on to have 14 children. You have 11 Healy children on your list. Maria Agnes and Anna M Healy are not children registered to Denis & Mary Murphy Healy. Take those two off your list and add my five = 14.

Cornelius born 15th April 1877
Mary born 21 November 1880
Honora born 13th March 1886
Michael born 7 February 1892
Christopher born 23rd Dec 1899

Look at your 1911 Census form. It states that there were 14 children born, 11 living. What were the names of the 3 children that died. In taking some time to look at all these documents my observation is that Cornelius,Mary and Christopher died in infancy. Were infant deaths registered in those times, I don't know.
Denis Healy died on 13th June 1915 aged 57 years at Headfort Killarney Co Kerry with his son Michael present. Death Reg No 158 in the District of Coom Killarney Co Kerry.
You can view these areas on the google map. Headfort is spelt Headford on his death cert. It is close to the Kerry/Cork border. Also the 1901 & 1911 Irish Census is on line.
If you so wish I am willing to mail all these documents to you. Please advise on the best and safest way to send them.
Best Regards. Mary.
I am looking for information on Daniel Healy, b 1822, in Ireland. He married in 1846 (in Ireland) a Margaret Tierney, b 11 Aug 1825, in Ireland. I do not know where in Ireland they were from....possibly Co Mayo. They came to the US in 1848, entering in NY, then to CT for 5-6 years, then Mendota, Dakota County, MN in 1854, then settled in Washington Lake, Sibley County, MN, in about 1855. They are both buried in St. Peter Catholic Church cemetery in Mendota, MN. They had at least 6 children. I am primarily seeking information on Margaret, trying to determine if she is a sister to my g-grandfather, Thomas Tierney, of Westport, Co Mayo. Thanks!
Sorry I do not have any Coughlin or Cann names in my tree as of yet. When I posted this query I was desparate to find some Healy's in Ontario. Now there are all kinds of names connected to Healy that so far I have not been able to fit into my family tree.

Hello,

Your post caught my eye as I am related to Kerry Healy's both maternally and paternally in Worcester, MA.

I have done extensive research on different branches of Kerry immigrants who settled in Worcester. There was a large branch from Kilbrean who were in Worcester much earler than yours. Among them were the children of John Brosnihan/Ellen Finnegan. One of the girls married a Denis Healy. The Finnegan/Brosnihan family were an immigrant success story in Worcester for the most part.

My paternal gg grandmother Julia Healy b. Teernaboul married Daniel Courtney in Killarney. Right before they came to Worcester in 1881 they lived on New St. in Killarney. My great grandmother Nellie Courtney Crotty was born on New Street in 1879.

I have Julia Healy Courtney's obit. Her pallbearer was Michael Healy son of Michael/Margaret Hennessey of Knockacorrin. I'm unsure of the exact "cousinship" of Michael and Julia but Michael was related to Nora Healy Carroll. There were many Carroll's on Michael's obit.

Nora Healy Carroll was the daughter of John/Margaret Foley. She married Michael Carroll in Firies. They were a very large family most of the children were born in Castleisland. They also had a Cornelius Carroll.

In my quest to untangle the Healy's of Worcester I have accumulated obituaries on Michael Healy and family and some of Nora Healy Carroll's family. I've got many marriages for the Carroll children. I do not know where Michael Carroll was from in Kerry nor sadly do I know when he died in Worcester.

I have an obit. on your Cornelius Carroll. It mentions his wife was Margaret Sullivan. A few of the Nora Healy Carroll offspring also married Sullivan's(there were a huge number of them in Worcester). Your Connie Carroll worked for the City of Worcester, as did most of my Kerry family at one time or another.

If you need Connie Carroll's obit. or think any of the above data connects to your family contact me and I can email you the information.

Kind regards,
Helen

My greatgrandmother was Mary Ann Healy. She married James coughlin and they both lived in Arthur Ontario. Her fater was James Healy and came from Irrland. Her mother was Ann Cann also from Ireland. I cannot seem to find out much information about James or Ann.

He is buried in St. Patricks Cemetery in Shieldsville, but I suppose you already knew that. Also buried there are his wife and his son.
