I have just seen your message regarding John Heap. John Heap was married to two of my great grand aunts, Alice MORTIMER 1844 and Ellen HAYES 1852.Alice and John had four children only one of whom survived until adulthood. Hope this helps after all this time!

Sorry I don't have any info on the Heap family, but I am the granddaughter of William Charles Nixt (1925-1979), Emily Ann Nixt Lynch. I saw you had a photo of him and his sister Margaret. Looking for information on what happened to John & Charlotte (nee Goodwin) Heap.

They married on 28th February 1881 when they lived in Bath Street, Leeds.

I have found them on the 1881 census living with his mother and step-father in Duke William Street, Leeds.

In 1891 they are living at 24 Knight Street (I think its Knight) Leeds, but they go missing from then on?

William Heap (b.abt 1825, Portsmoth, Hants) emigrated to the USA in the 1850s. His brother James was my gr-gr-grandfather.
William and his wife Mary had several children and one of them Henry (b.abt 1852, Lancashire) married a Maria (b.abt 1855, Mass,USA).
I have only traced two children Nellie (b.abt 1875, NH)and Frank (b. 1879, NH) so far.

Does this ring any bells with anyone? If so I'd love to hear from you.

Hello,
I am looking for James John, my gggrandfather. I have traced him back to the 1910 Census in Virden, Manitoba. We know that he purchased land in the Elkhorn area and signed his name James John Heape. I wonder if he could be listed under some association or registration under horse traders. Some family speculate he could have moved out of province, possibly Alberta or British Columbia and married or taken the name Rankin. Any information is appreciated.

john heap b 1811 d 1845 married ann kinston (b 1811 d 1882) in 1834 as far as i know they had 4 children mary ruth b 1836 charles b 1838 thomas b 1841 and jonathan b 1845 i trace my ancestors through thomas. john heape was the son of thomas heap b 1786 d 1861 and ruth hough, thomas heap was the son of thomas heap and jane or elizabeth sandland and that thomas was the son of william heap and elizabeth farmerby, i am not sure of all the dates but i hope this helps.

My Mother in Law is looking for decendants of Ambrose Ebenezer HEAP b.1845, eldest son of JOSEPH & ELIZABETH. We know that AEH was married to Alice H? by 1901 Census had 6 children, Joseph, Jane, Herbert, Ernest, George and Lily. After AEH passed away Alice remarried a George Thompson.
Ambrose had 7 siblings:-
Emily b.1847, Walter b.1849, Ernest b.1851, Sarah H. b.1853, Arthur b.1855, Mary b.1857 and Herbert b.1860 all Manchester and district births (UK). My M-I-L is decended form Herbert.

There is a John William Heap, born in the 1/4 ending June 1902. His birth is registered in Vol.8e Page 274.

You can order a birth certificate from

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

This will give you the full name of his father, and you should be able to track them through the census records.

Looks like that could be his second marriage.

Just found his marriage to Alice Norval !!He was married in the District of Carlisle. The Registry entry is

Vol. 10b Page 1051.

If you order the marriage certificate you should find his father's name. Good luck :)

Thank you for answering my query. Unfortunately I see that there are many George Heaps born within a few years of each other in the same area and can't possibly send for all of them.

Is there any way to find his parents through the marriage records? The only other information I have is that he died in Cambridge in 1964.

There is a George Heapy born in the 1/4 ending Sept 1919 in Manchester. His mother's name was Whitely. The Registry Entry - Vol 8d Page 261.

Frank A Heap d. Nov 23 1925; Roger Victor (engineer) 10 July 1905 - 9 Nov 1990; Gladys Irene Heap b.12 Dec 1897 d. 16 May 1988; Roger Walter Heap, inventor, b. 2 April 1902 d. 20 Jan 1985. Ran a family business at Ulverstone and were well known - slightly eccentric, but great inventors. The Ulverstone History Museum, Tasmania, has more information. I am not related, but thought someone in England may be wondering what happened to them.

Peter: My name is Jamie Pritchard. I am Clarice May Heap's grandson. Florence Emily Whitehouse was my Great Grandmother. Unfortunately she died in November 1961 about 14 months before I was born. Florence was buried in Scarborough Ontario on November 24, 1961. They had two other sons Harold Gilbert born circa 1907 and Leonard Sydney (not sure when he was born, but he as the middle child. I have just been browsing this forum having come to many dead ends in my own family research
My mum was a Heap from Bury in Lancashire
The village of Heap is now known as Heap Bridge (between Bury and Heywood
I have quite a lot of info on the Bury Heaps if interested

James Heap of Clayton, died 5th. April 1849

He was buried in Newton Church on 8th. April.
His death certificate shows that he died at the age of 48 of phthisis, was resident at West end, Clayton and a calico printer by trade.
The informant was a William Heap.

I know my gr-gr-grandfather was a James Heap (b. abt 1827, Plymouth, Devon) and he had a brother William (b. abt 1825, Portsmouth, Hants) but have never been able to track down a father for them.

The only clue I have is James' death notice which I found in my grandmother's belongings and she was James' (the one born in 1827) grand-daughter.

Does this tie in with anyone else's Heaps?
