I have been researching a family member of mine Israel Heath born abt 1821. I have had a hard time tracking down information about him but I noticed in the 1850 census he is listed next to Joseph Heath and Catherine and James Heath and Mary in the census. I then began researching Joseph and James to see if Israel was potentially related to them. I came across you posting that Joseph and Margaret had had an Israel who possibly died after Childbirth. Can you direct me as to where you found Israel in relation to Margaret. I'm really hoping that I've found Israel's parents.

Thanks!

Willie M. Barefield / Barfield and Annie D. Heath GA-NC

I am trying to track down some information concerning my grandmother, Minnie Lee Heath Hobbs (1910-1971). She was married twice and going by her marriage certificate information, it said she was born in Waynesboro, Burke Co., GA. One account shows her parents as Frank and Helen Heath but this is questionable.

First, I was able to find her as a child showing "adopted" under the family of Willie M. Barefield (1871-1924) - death certificate says 1871 while other sources have from 1861, 1865 and 1866. His wife he married c.1893 is listed as Annie (maiden name Heath 1873-1942) in the 1920 census.

In 1900 Willie and Annie were living in Burke County, 1910 in Jenkins County, and 1920 in Screven County, GA.

I know I have the correct family as they eventually moved back to Willie's home state of North Carolina in the Sampson County area. In fact, their children can be traced to Clinton, NC which is where Minnie and her second husband settled.

Problem is trying to track down how Annie D. Barefield/Barfield (maiden name Heath) and adopted child Minnie Lee Heath are related? And another oddity. It was hinted that my grandmother may have been mulatto but all her children were white. I say that because in the 1910 census, Willie and Annie are listed in the middle of pages and pages of black families as the only white ones and next door is a black family Alfred and Anna Heath. And being Minnie was supposed to have been born in Burke Co., where they lived before and born around 5-months after the census was taken, is interesting.

And going one further with Heaths… Minnie's Hobbs husband's mother was also a Heath.

I noted in a post while digging a mention of a George W. Barefield which could be some link to Willie? And in the back of my mind for years was the name Dixie or Dallas or something like that and I see George W. Barefield and second wife Oma Brown and had children Helen and Dixie among them… both names I have heard for Minnie's mother but that was some 40 years ago so memories can fade.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Eric Huffstutler
Richmond, VA
Hi Heath's of the world!

All my life I have grown up understanding that my surname is Hadfield and my farther too. But at my grandmothers funeral a few years ago, a relative told my father that Hadfield was not his father and it was in fact a person called Leslie Heath.

I have done some research and it looks like this is true, I discovered that my grandma Edna May Tuck did in fact marry a Leslie Heath in January 1940 in Coventry England, and with that document I managed to find out the Leslie Heath was born in Sep 1916 in Coventry, Warwickshire and his mother was I think Gertrude Emily Humphris.

And that is where my information runs dry about Leslie, I can't seem to find any more about him??

We would be very grateful for any information or help, as I also have 3 sisters and 6 nieces and nephews who would kinda like to know where our family came from.

Thanks for your help in advanced

Kind regards
Simon

B
