Hoping you're still on Ancestry as this post is really old! I have been researching William Heilman who was married to Marie Ladich as well. He would have been my great grandfather's brother. I have a photo of him and his wife, who I'm 95% sure was Marie Ladich due to a marriage record I found. I have the names of his parents and siblings as well. Please contact me if you're still on Ancestry!!

I'm in search of Heilman family background also. My records indicate that my great-grandmother, Anna (from Germany, born around 1948-9) married Edgar A. Chapman. They lived in Illinois and later moved to Iowa where they were farmers and had 8 children. Their 7th child, Laurence Heilman Chapman, was my grandfather. He then married Dorothy Fletcher, from Mass., and had 3 children and ended up living in Stockton, CA, where I still live. I believe Anna immigrated to the US with a sister, I don't know her name. If any of this information sounds reasonable I would love to hear back from you. PS Was John Heilman from Germany? The birthdates of their children sound right, also Anna did live in Iowa.

Hi Diane,
I know this is about four years after your posting, but here goes:
Henry W Heilman enlisted in 17th WV Infantry 1864-65. His enlistment papers (on Ancestry's database) show that he was born about 1845 in Grafton, WV, to Samuel Heilman.
Also filed with his papers is a Civil War pension index (1861-1934)for Ohio and Kentucky showing both his name and 'Sarah H Heilman'. If you look on Familysearch.org you will find his birth ('Henry Heylman') in their IGI records registered in Barhour WV in 1845 - his parents are shown as Henry Hileman and Harriett Hannon. It also shows that he married Almira Hall in Barhour on 2 August 1866, so I guess Sarah must have been his second wife? Anyway, hope this helps....All Best, Ian (in the UK)

Heilmans in Allegheny/Armstrong, PA

My great grandfather is John A. Heilman (born July 27, 1890 supposedly in Pittsburgh, PA, but could find no record there). His death certificate lists John and Elizabeth Heilman as his parents, but I have had difficulty pinning this family down with certainty in census records. I have connected him through draft cards to Albert Harry Heilman (born May 18, 1898 or 99) and a through a census record to Helen Heilman (born about 1903). Albert and Harry would have been his siblings. I have also found Albert living in Ohio with Gustav Heilman, listed as his cousin. Gustav is originally from Armstrong, PA. I have not been able to find anything that can confirm they are first cousins and have hit a brick in connecting them as family in any way. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Don;t find your name but interesting that you find them in Pekin IL at some point.

My Heilmann line arrived in Pekin in 1851 from the Odenwald area, (SSE of Frankfurt). But I think he must have know the family in some way.

The family that came in 1851 was good sized. There are a number of Heilman's living in the Pekin/Peoria area to this day/ My line moved on to SE Kansas after the Civil War.

Send me an e-mail address and I can send you my early Heilmann data aa974@yahoo.com

Hi Dick,

I am finally getting back in the search for info on Heilman family. AA Heilman appears out of nowhere in about 1845. He was married to Philena J. Roney prior to birth of son George Briscoe Heilman in 1866 in Pekin. George is my GGrandfather and AA is my GGGrandfather. I would love any info you have on AA and/or Philena. Both were ultimately buried in Otterbein IN (her in 1919).

I do not have his parents. He died in 1851, Allegheny County.I have copy of his Will.

I don't know where or when he married Rosina Barbara. Nothing in the church records just the baptisms. The children were John b 1796; Joseph b 1798, Sarah b 1800; Mary Polly 1803. ALL died in Allegheny County.

I am thinking maybe Rosina died in childbirth 1803 as other children have later birthdates with Rebecca McKnight 2nd wife.
Doubtful they divorced. MAYBE Rosina is buried with the other Heilmans and Henry moved to Allegheny after 1803. He is on the 1810 Census there.
I got it from an old family relative. The reference I gave you has Anastasius married Rosina Barbara Maurer on April 08, 1766. She was born January 29, 1746 daughter of Michael Maurer and wife unknown. She died on April 11, 1799. Anastasius had a farm known as Heilbronn Dairy , you maybe can get some sons names out of that.

As to Marie Salome Frey, I'll get information on her when I go down in a few weeks to get pictures of tombstones on the Heilman's family.

Re: Chester Co, PA - Heilemann, Heilman, Hileman, Hyleman

Ken,
Ken: I am the 5th great grandson of Johannes Heilman who died in York County, PA in 1787. I do not believe he is the Johannes who arrived on the Loyal Judith but I am interesting to your ancestrial relationship to your Johannes. The earliest record I have of my Johannes is his marriage to Anna Maria at the Christ Lutheran Church, York, PA in 1749 and know nothing of his arrival or birth. I am descendented from his son John Philip. Could you provide a description of your earlist Heilman ancestor so I can look for a match with my family files? Jim
