In case it's helpful to your research, I've indexed about 175 Heller entries in the collection "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950). Like many valuable research resources, it's not online, but can be accessed temporarily at the Salzmann Library in St. Francis (Milwaukee Co.). Other surnames referenced to Heller include: Reake Westphal Glessner Holerstein Goldsmith Pilagia Birkenwald Rindskopf Tietze Klumb Buckelmüller Buckelmueller Popp Strobel Rath Kocolowski Kueneler

Look-ups available.
gary.rebholz@gmail.com
editor/compiler
I know there was a Johann Gustave Heller in Northampton County whose wife was Elizabeth Shaffer. They had a son Jacob Heller, b. 9 Jan 1804 in Easton, PA, d. 5 Feb 1878 in Easton and m. Sarah Belles, 18 apr 1824 in the First United Church of Christ in Easton. Their son, William Henry Heller, b. 31 Aug 1827 in Northampton Co., d. 20 Dec 1876 in Holland Township, Hunterdon Co., NJ, m. 10 Nov 1853 in Bellis's Hotel to my great-great-aunt Catharine Crawford, daughter of Seth & Mary/Maria (Mutchler) Crawford. I don't know anything more on Johann Gustave Heller who could well be the "John Heller" you're asking about. You're welcome to contact me directly at sharonsabol at yahoo.com.

Sherry Sabol

Jane Heller

Need help Please! I have a Lillie Mae(May) Hayden who's mother was a Heller. On ancestry I found a record of birth in New Jersey for a Female Hayden listing Jane Heller as her mother at age 42. Father is listed as George W. Hayden age 24. Not sure if there is a typo somewhere or what the story is? We have a birth date that is exactly a month off the New Jersey record. (Oct. rather then Sept.) Lillie's daughter always told us her Grandmother was a Heller, and New Jersey also fits the family story. If anyone can help clarify, it is greatly appreciated. Thank you Linda

The Heller I, have was mentioned as the husband of Elizabeth Dipprey (Dibbery on the will) and daughter of Jacob Dipprey. Out of Hampton County, PA. They had a son born 1799 in PA. so I don't have the origination of this family. There was a John Heller in the Revolutionary War that I am trying to connect source information. This Heller had 16 children with two wives. He does not mention either of his wives but if he was married twice, his first wife would be Elizabeth. Their son's name is Daniel Heller.
I don't know if they are from Prussia or not.
I am looking for similar information. My grandfather Archibald Klatskin came from Russia (by way of England & Scotland) in 1898 on a ticket paid for by his cousin (according to the ship's manifest) Jacob Heller, 86 Canal St., New York. Then when he became a citizen in 1904, his witness was a Meyer Heller (Designer, 54 Bartlett St, Brooklyn, NY).

So I am looking for a Jacob Heller & Meyer Heller connection

Heller Family in Illinois

I am looking for the family of Lucy N. Heller who married John Neiswander on 14 Nov 1892, Henry County, Illinois. I have no further info on them except that Lucy was my father in law's grandmother.

Lucy and John apparently died young, leaving their only daughter, Edna Ruth Neiswander, in the care of the Illinois Home for Girls in Geneva, IL. Edna was born in 1893 and was in the Home in the 1910 census. She turned 18 in 1911 and immediately married David A. Kirkpatrick, moving to Quincy, IL.

My father in law remembers visiting a Heller family, possibly in Rushville, during the 1930s. He thought he remembered them owning a coal business. Unfortunately, because he was very little, he does not remember who they were.

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks!
Amy

May I make a suggestion for your future postings? In your subject line, alsays list what names you can fit and always include dates. For Instance, "John Heller m Mary Doe c 1929, Duluth MN." Everyone on this list is looking for Hellers, so narrow it down, hoping to catch the eye of someone who may know something. Also, most people are so focused on finding their own kin, they won't even open a message with so vague a subject line. However, if they stumble upon something that rings a bell, they may be more likely to open it. If you had included approximate dates, I would have tried to see if I could find anything. Hope this helps.
Regards, Carole

Harry, William, Alfred, David Heller

I know in Jewish tradition baby names are given to honor deceased relatives. My father and his two brothers are Alfred, William, and David, and my grandfather is Harry (Harry Adrian Heller, b. 1931, and married Dorothy Dickson). I am seeing these names pop up on almost every thread!

My grandfather has never talked about his past or his family, as far as I know his father was William Alfred Heller, and his grandfather is possibly another William Heller (I could guess his date of birth would be around 1870?). I do not know of the maternal line.

Again, as far as I know my grandfather has always lived in Queens, NY, and I believe we're Austrian.

Does anyone have any information that can help me learn about my family?

Thank you!
~Dani Heller

Re: Heller heritage

My father, Simon Heller was one of ten children. Reka was one of his sisters. He also had brothers named Henry, Albert, Barney, and Onno. He also had sisters Clara, Genny, Maggie, and Georgia. I believe Reka and her husband Abe moved up to Canada when I was young. We drove up to Horse Fly BC to visit them once. Martinus was my grandfather. He owned a large amount of land on Whidbey Island, near Oak Harbor, Washington. Martinus was a boy when his father, who I believe was named Onno, moved from Michigan to Oak Harbor. I once found a big family tree on the internet and discovered that the original family name in Holland was "Helder" and somewhere along the line, the family tree split off and some people became known as "Heller", so you might find some relatives named "Helder". Martinus acquired some of his wealth by making all of his kids work and collecting their earnings. There was money to be made from farming and cutting wood which could be sold in Oak Harbor. During the Depression, many people lost their land for unpaid taxes and Martinus purchased it with his available cash. He ended up owning many acres of land and a sizable portion of beach front known as West Beach on Whidbey Island.

I know for certain that his family branch came to the US when Elisabeth Antz (nee Heller) came over from Germany with her two young children, Charles and Catherine. She was George Frederick's daughter. I would appreciate any information on this branch. Thank you!
